Which one do you prefer. Personally I liked Silent Hill more than Resident Evil, though both are good and Resident Evil was out before Silent Hill. Silent Hill is what a Survival Horror game really is, right down to the atmospheric music. It was just so good.

So which Survival Horror game is king?

Silent Hill hands down, of course I heard that Eternal Darkness game tops both of them so Ill have to check that out.

I thought RE was always the better series...even tho silent hill is spooky.

I loved the gameplay in RE and the story kept me coming back for more. Silent hill was too confusing for me, i gave up...i'm hopeless.

SH. Although I love RE, it just doesn't creep you out like SH does. RE makes you jump, but that's pretty much it. Silent Hill is that kind of game that makes you want to turn ont eh lights when you're about to go to sleep, when you get the creepy music stuck in your head or images of the creepy monsters.

Personally, I thought SH1 was a bit better than SH2. Little more scary, and lemme' tell ya', SH2 was scary as hell, so just think how creepy SH1 is. ;)

Silent Hill by far.

It made me sit on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I highly enjoyed the game.

RE is still an excellent series, but sometimes they overdo it with the sequels. They should have stopped at RE2.

I'll be honest, I've only ever played the Resident Evil games all the way through. I once got hold of a demo of Silent Hill, and that game scared me so much even just in the demo with the slow, creepy, spine-chilling atmosphere that I just couldn't face to play the whole game. (I hate horror things, but Resident Evil wasn't that scary, just you jumping out of your skin once in a while.)

It's a shame, because by the looks of what you people are saying, Silent Hill is a great game...

I'm more for RE than SH. Silent Hill is scary... when there is nothing to do and your mind wonders elsewhere. You don't know what to do, you don't know where to go, you get confused and lost that it will make you want to turn off the game and play something else. RE actually attempts to shove in more action in the game. You actually have something to shoot every few rooms and you don't have to check the menu if you're going to die (yes, SH actually has the Heart Pulse effect to tell you your life... but what about those people who has busted Vibration controllers?)

Ah well.. SH for fright, RE for action.

Yes, monsterskate, if by 'was awesome' you mean 'sucks ass!' Silent Hill is the far superior series, even though there's only two of them. Maybe because there is two of them, they spend more time on each one.

I've posted elsewhere on the forums about this, so I'll say it again. Silent Hill is creepy-scary, whereas Resident Evil is jump-scary, like David F and Bahamut ZERO said.

As for getting lost, I got lost just as much in Silent Hill as in Resident Evil. And getting lost in Resident Evil isn't cary because you've already killed everything -- and that's what provides the fear. In Silent Hill you can be wandering around and you'll still wonder if there are any monsters around. All Resident Evil is good for is an expensive coaster. Bah.

My vote goes to RE, why? Simply because it is more challenging. Don't get me wrong I liked Silent Hill. It was just a bit easy that's all. Besides it was rather sick and gory. But I suppose that's why it is such a good game. ^_^

RE appeals to me more because it has a very good theme to it. It's alright in thrill, there were some moments that made me jump. Also because it is much more challenging.

According to my resources there's a Silent Hill 3 on the way even more sick and gorier than the last two. I think they might give it a try for the Xbox. It's obviously going to be released for the PS2.

I think the GBA game was only released in Japan, it was one of their launch titles.

Eternal Darkness absolutely sucks...there are maybe few things in the game that scare you, but otherwise, it's a fucking History Trip...exploring temples of Egypt, or Persia...bagh..in my opinion, Eternal Darnkness is a fucking disgrace. Silent Hill 0wnz it so badly, it makes you want to cry.

I prefer the Resident Evil games. It's the story that draws me. When I played Silent Hill, I simply couldn't get interested into it. It's actually RE's story that got me into survival horror games. Sure there are some plot holes (in Raccoon City, it's perfectly normal for a police station to be a big three level maze leading to a chemical factory which develops biochemical weapons), but doesn't every game have plot holes? With that said, I still can't friggin' figure out what happened to Rebecca after RE1! >=(

bah, I think resident evil is overrated. It stretches on things that are simple. Like walking up the stiars. You could have a cup of coffee by the time you reach the top. but, I never beat it so I can't judge too fast.

Silent hill schools resident evil by far. It had scary music, monsters, even the camera angles were kind of scary. but, I Never really get scarred from games nor movies. Becuase fear Is just in your head.

I vote RE. Silent Hill's music and atmosphere scared the crap out of me but Resident Evil has a WAY better storyline. It's that simple. I think Resident Evil 2 was the best ever made by far. Nemesis was fun but got old after a while. I havent played The new Resident Evil or Resident Evil 0. Capcom shouldn't have handed over the series to nintendo. I like gamecube and all and its a fairly good system but it just didnt give me the same feel as old school playstation. PS2 kept up with that. =D

Silent Hill by a long shot. The atmosphear gets to you, the game freaks you out way more then Resident Evil does. The story is great the music really sets the perfect mood for the game. Silent Hill 0wnz0rz Resident Evil.
