I made this 5.1 version of Brambles (my favorite piece of videogames music ever) and for some other songs as well, using ripped channels from the SPC files (i used Audio Overlord to rip each channel separately). I cleaned up some annoying hissing from many channels with Cool Edit Pro and i tried to make them sound a little bit better and cleaner. Then i used Audacity to create WAV files and attach them to the proper speakers. I,m pretty happy with the separation and the quality (there is one stereo track for the front speakers, a different one for the rear and one mono track for the center speaker).

...Oh and i hope you like the peaceful endings i made in most songs ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Here is another song from DKC2, its called "hot-head bob", from the lava themed levels. I like how this one ends, having all the channels separated you can make some creative endings for the songs ;)

As Far as I can see having the 3 DKC OSTs in flac I didn't see that mining song from DKC2 included :( Kannon's Klaim.. Shame when they release OSTs they skip some cool songs.

I made a new much better version of Stickerbush Symphony (Brambles). Please download this version and compare it to the previous. This one has more fidelity.

The newer versions sound quite clearer and I reckon better ;-)

Lava theme (hot-head bop) is fixed and now sounds better. Music now stands out more than the magma sound effects and has much higher fidelity:

We have downloaded the new files. You could make 5.1 the DKC - Gang-Plank Galleon track. The new one from Smash Bros Brawl is better though (B05 King K.Rool & Ship Deck 2).

A nice addition to 5.1 sound system would be the all-time classic musics of Doom 1 & 2. :-)

Just a note, if you're downloading the Kannon's Klaim theme from Megaupload, it will save as "Kannon&" or something like that. If you save it as normal, and then just add ".rar" at the end, it should work, or add .rar when you save it.

On a side note.. PSX doom it's possible to grab the sounds but the game just uses about 36 x a few sec bits and each lvl mixes them together to make the music or even changing pitches or however to make the music ingame ?.. Interesting they are only @ 22Khz Mono but yeah we are talking old PSX days :)

Kannon's Klaim is very good :)

I remember PSX Doom, it had mostly ambiance (which created nice atmosphere), but there was no catchy music like the original. Nkarafo, there is a FLAC, remastered version of the original midis that sounds 10x times better than the originals.

When you say Toxic Tower, you mean the "Krook's March", right? If so, then yes.

I also want to do the "Primal Rave" theme (this was pretty high on my list), but its hard, i'm not even sure if i can do a comparable song with the current tools and filters i use.

I don't know if i will do all the songs of Donkey Kong Country 2 (the level themes that is) but we'll see.

I made a slightly better version of "Flight of the Zinger". This song has the lowest quality samples, with lots of hissing. Its very hard to achieve a good fidelity. I also changed the speaker positions a bit and i think its more appropriate now.

When i started this, i was thinking of doing Stickerbrush Symphony and Fear Factory only, but after that, i though i could make a few more level themes, but only level themes. I just don't want to start making bonus levels, characters, bosses and other minor themes. I don't really like them anyway and it will be a huge chore for me. I'd rather do songs from different games that have awesome music but low sound quality... Like the Lower Norfair theme in Super Metroid (This is going to be hard).... But maybe i'll do an exception for the final boss theme in DKC2, since its indeed a very good song.

After a few failed attempts to do some of the rest DKC2 songs (i can't make them sound good enough) and trying to setup a new PC, i lost my enthusiasm about this project. But after i listened to the nice DKCR remix of the DKC1 mines theme, i thought it would be great to try a 5.1 version of the SNES original. Sounds good i think:

You can ask a moderator, such as jessie, to do so. However, there is a reason why thread names aren't changed by mere mortals: the thread url derives from the name. Now I do not know whether the a rename means all boomarks/history entries/links on fb/reddit/tumblr/whatever will break if you change the topic, or if link and topic just go out of sync, but you could still consider opening a new thread when posting "new" stuff - and if your topic doesn't fit, it's probably 'new stuff'.

That said, thank you for these mixes, I will keep them for better days of having a cool sound system. :-)

Well, Stickerbrush does sound different. Unfortunately I don't have a true 5.1 sound system. It just sounds louder in VLC with the 5.1 enabled. Thanks anyways.

If you have two speakers there are two possible outcomes. It will either be downmixed to stereo or mono, which sounds terrible and way too loud, with clipping, crackling and all, or you will indeed have 5.1 enabled (through VLC and control panel) but with only two speakers half of the instruments will be missing and the song will definitely sound different.

Edit: I also recommend Winamp for these files, they sound as they should in my setup.
