This is a boot that I found a few years ago. A magical tale by Ray Bradbury. Sadly, one of the last animation projects of the now closed Hanna-Barberra studios. There is plenty of artwork in the file to create your own cover. Enjoy, all! and Happy Halloween!

It really is. I yanked a torrent of the movie, but it's in Divx format so I have to play around and see how to burn a DVD of it.

Thank You so much for this upload. The Halloween Tree is probably my favorite movie of all time. I searched for a long time for the soundtrack for it with no luck. Then I found this site while searching for some video game music and upon exploring more, found this thread with the soundtrack I'd wanted for so long. I am very very greatful for this. Again, Thank you.

Hi, I love the movie and would love to hear the soundtrack. When I try to uncompress the ZIP file, I get error messages that either the archive is invalid, or a file is damaged. I tried both WINRAR and Windows Explorer to open it. Am I doing it wrong? Thanks so much for sharing the music -- I hope to hear it soon!

msuperfan, the link to your post for The Halloween Tree, is that just a transcode like bishtyboshty mentioned about the other 320 version, or is this a true 320kb version?

I ask because there's no point in a 320 mp3 if it is just transcoded from the 192 files posted here. What is your source for your version?

msuperfan
02-28-2012, 01:28 AM
My copy DID come from a 192kbs version earlier posted. Sorry to get your hopes up. This is a version I put together with CD art & CD art for my music blog. It is not a separate source.

oknihcap1

That's too bad, but thank you for replying and setting the record straight.

In general, it's always a bad idea to transcode a lossy format (like mp3) to a higher bitrate. You gain nothing by doing that, since you can never gain back the sound lost in the 192 encoding. Instead, you actually degrade the quality further by reencoding from an mp3 to another mp3. Also, the file ends up being larger than the original file, with absolutely no gain in quality.

I just wanted to bring that up since some people don't know this information. Always avoid transcoding unless you're converting from lossless to lossless. (ape>flac or flac>ape) for example is fine because it is lossless. But never transcode an mp3 from a lower bitrate (say 192) to a higher bitrate (say 320). It only does further damage to the audio, and there is no quality gain whatsoever.

msuperfan
02-28-2012, 04:02 AM
I don't understand how the sound can be degraded if the information is all digital (that is numbers). I'm not being smart-alecky, I genuinely don;t know enough about that part. Any suggestions for tutorial pages online or something?

I thought that the point of mp3s and digital medium was NOT having quality degrade like endless photocopying?

Yes, but with lossy the numbers are changed, audio information is clipped.

oknihcap1

Exactly. The same thing happens with images, audio and video. It doesn't matter that it is digital. Digital media most certainly degrades when re-converted. You can never re-encode images, audio, or video without degrading the quality. The exception is when dealing with lossless files like flac. You can convert a lossless file to a lossless file like flac to ape or vice-versa.

If you open a jpeg in photoshop, make changes to the image, and then re-save as a jpeg, you lose quality, even at the highest quality setting. That's because jpeg is lossy. Just like mp3 is lossy. You can re-save a tiff or png or bmp file without quality loss because they are lossless image files.

It is the most important thing people here can know regarding mp3s - never, ever re-encode an mp3. If it is 128, or 192, or whatever, just leave it be. You can never, ever regain lost quality. Once you encode the file to a certain bitrate, the quality will never be better than that bitrate, but if you convert it to a higher bitrate, it actually loses quality, as the bits, which are already compressed in the mp3 format, are re-arranged and re-compressed, hurting the quality further.

Any website with info on mp3s will tell you that. It's called transcoding and it's bad.
