by this topic i don't mean what garnets real name is i mean the meaning of them like today in science class we were talking about rocks and the minerals in them when my teacher said that one of the minerals found in rocks is called garnet, i was just wondering if anybody found any more out

There was a thread on this Forum ages ago where I posted the origins of most of the FFIX characters names, but to summarise: a Garnet is a type of red, semi-precious stone, that's similar to a ruby. I'm not sure exactly, but I think a garnet has to be cut and polished first, and does not refer to the stone's natural state, although I'm probably wrong on that account.
