If anyone has the score to this N64 game, in a good kbps, I'd be grateful. I have a 12 track version at around 90kbps, ... needless to say its time for a serious upgrade, if its out there. Good rock-based score.

I never found better either. I'd rip the music myself, but I have no idea how to tackle N64 files or what software to use. Lee Jackson is sadly under-represented on the list of ripped/legitimately released game scores; catchy melodies, clean/dynamic structuring of the sounds, and not many listeners. His day may yet come, and hopefully this soundtrack as well :)

This poster says the soundtrack is available on "Red Interactive Records".... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, anybody know if this came to fruition and they actually released something?

his day may yet come? doesn't he get recognition worldwide for Grabbag anyway? also, does he even do composition work these days?

He hasn't composed since 2002, according to his wikipedia page. Also according to wikipedia: "Lee currently works in the Irving offices of Total Traffic Networks (formerly Metro Networks, now a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications) as a radio producer and as an on-air traffic reporter. He provides traffic reports on the 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. overnight shift for 1080 KRLD (AM) in Dallas and for KROI News92fm in Houston."

Yeah, he's known for Grabbag... deservedly so, its a catchy song. But, considering that it's just one song out of 7 years of composing music for games, I don't consider his day to have come yet. It might be the day before his day, people do know of him, but his day will show up when there are a few more releases of his music.

There IS a bit of his work available: People who bought the game Shadow Warrior got most of his soundtrack to that on the game CD (playable in most CD players), the MAC CD of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition had the music from the added 4th Episode " The Birth" as individual AIFF files in one of the folders (at about 320kbps), and there's a 90 Kbps rip of Duke Nukem: Zero Hour for N64 floating around. Aside from those and Grabbag, that's it.

traffic reports? what the hell...

i feel like if he wanted the work he's done out there, at the current stage of music distribution, he could almost certainly make some of it available through his own means. unless it's all licensed by someone other than him in which case that would really be pretty tragic.

Considering the pretzel that 3D Realms got twisted into during the late 90s and early 2000s (leading to Duke Nukem Forever being finished and released by another company), I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of releases is due to some kind of rights issue/copyright problem. All his game scores were done for Apogee/3D Realms related projects, so I can see a copyright problem extending to all of his work there. As a potential second source of income for Jackson, and since he's said he's proud of what he's done musically, I have to think he'd want to get this music out if he could... that he hasn't alludes to outside problems preventing it. Alludes is underlined; I don't think it's too likely, but he simply might not care anymore.

Yeah... traffic reports. As a producer, I'm sure he gets to tinker with the audio. And we all gotta work... these days, the chances of working in the fields we want, or went to college for, aren't that great, hehe.

and I still don't know what the deal is with this "Soundtrack Available on Red Interactive Records" blurb on the above poster. Just wistful thinking on the part of the whomever designed the poster, something that actually existed but only for a short time, a deliberate ruse..... ?
