Thanks for this masterpiece, all the fanfares without sound effects, and i never thought it was possible to rip Bowser,s new galaxy and you done it,many many thanks.
This beat the old thread from Peppydude.
You did a wonderful job on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Ultimate Collection, and now you did it again for the original.
I praise your ub3r-l33t r1pp1ng sk1llz.
Thanks a billion for this!!
The same code works on Bowser’s Battle Theme where his rolling variation is played. And it had effect on Beach Bowl Galaxy that played the shell-riding variation too.
Bowser’s battle Theme variation when Bowser’s tail is on fire does not play though.
Wait, there’s a different variation when his tail is on fire that you couldn’t get? Then what is "Bowser Battle (Bowser’s Burned Tail, No Drum)" on your soundtrack? Or is that just a modified version of the OST version?
What else is missing from this, anything?

The "Burned Tail" variation of the Bowser theme is the one with the chorus playing, when he’s running around the satellite with his ass and tail on fire.

What else is missing from this, anything?nothing is missing. I recorded it with the drum playing by recording the drumloop while muting everything else. Strangely the OST plays it without drumloop.
As slippy already said, he put rar files on the first page of the download link you click in his original post.
Okay, so it isn’t just me that thought that… I was afraid it was just me, so I didn’t bring it up…
as said in the description, it’s still preliminary. I was hoping it was unnoticable by the average listener, but since this is not the case i have to really either find the gecko code to enable the drum permanently or record and remaster it until i have the entire song played with the drum.
I don’t recognize/recall hearing those loud drums in game that are on tracks 90 or 91. I only ever heard it without the drums as in tracks 170 and 171.
From VideoGameScrapbook’s SMG soundtrack (found here: Thread 76306), the choir part is a separate file from the orchestra part (but his score doesn’t have the part for when Bowser is spinning). You, however, imply that you recorded them together as one track. With the help of Audacity one can import the choir part and orchestra part separately and then overlay them. It’s what I did with those tracks I got from his soundtrack.
Other than that, once again, your soundtrack is superb. You might want to check other tracks to see that they are lined up such as "Beach Bowl Galaxy (Underwater, Shell-Surfing)"–I haven’t listened to all of it yet. Also, check the Yoshi songs in SMG2…yeah, I know: it’s still preliminary.
And only bowser battle song was not synced yet because of the complexity of the song with 4 tracks playing at once.
I found the gecko code to play all loops and also redid beach bowl galaxy (underwater, shell-riding) with correct intro and the unused variations of inside the dome are tagged correctly and were missing a few instruments. Big Bad Bugaboom is also correctly tagged.
I’m now reuploading them again with all fixes and a better bowser battle variations.
And I also riped the yoshi remixes from SMG2 and they are perfeclty synced since I record them both at the same time.
Songs ARE missing. You’re missing the Star select theme without that little intro, the song that plays when the world is about to be saved from the giant black hole, the sequenced dome themes (all three of them) without mixes, and the 100 percent clear introduction. Maybe more, but I can’t think of any.
I can’t remember any other song inside the dome playing. Can you post a youtube movie where the song is playing?
edit:
I checked again. Indeed there’s a star select theme without the intro. I’ll add it as soon as possible. But the rest of the songs are there. The black hole is either the one used in the FMV which can’t be extracted without SFX, but the OST version without SFX is in the set too or you meant Bowser’s New Kingdom.
The 120 star ending song is the song Family. Again, it can’t be ripped without SFX and the OST provides one, but without that intro.

No, I mean the higher pitched version of From the Comet to the Observatory that plays a few seconds before Family.

I’ll look into it. What song that the world is about to be saved from the giant black hole and sequenced dome themes? I did update the soundtrack and moved the unused variations of inside the dome that were missing instruments and tagged them as the moving planets variation.

No, I mean the higher pitched version of From the Comet to the Observatory that plays a few seconds before Family. Speaking of that song, I used a rip of From the Comet to the Observatory on higher pitch and recorded it a while ago. Can’t remember when, though. I don’t know where my digital recorder plug is and mine is out of batteries.

Feel free to rip those, smithuser, and share them with the rest of while you’re at it.
I don’t have the tools to do that, and I don’t know how.
that one is unrippable without SFX since it’s inside a FMV. The FMV is included in the set
The course select without intro is in the uncompressed map as 046 – Course Select (No Intro).mp3 / 046 – Course Select (No Intro).flac
Thank you.
FMV=full motion video
Also is there any actual difference between tracks 24 and 44? I don’t hear one.
Aaaand… Where in the game does the airship theme play with the intro (track 165)?
– iTunes lists the full running time of "To the Gateway" and "To the Gateway (Finding Bunnies)" both as 2:12.192 but ""To the Gateway (Chasing Bunnies)" is 2:12.284
– "Inside the Dome" and "Inside the Dome (Select Galaxy") are both 2:12.228 but the "(Rotating the map)" version is 2:12.205. Same exact running times apply to the "Garden Dome" versions.
– "vs. Bowser" and "vs. Bowser (Bowser’s Burned Tail, No Drum)" are both 3:04.392 but the "(Bowser’s Burned Tail)" and "(Bowser Rolling)" variations are both 3:04.398
So it seems like a matter of fractions of a second resulting in the layers being out of sync. The versions that are just two streams are perfectly synced, the versions with sequenced layers are not, so use those running times for the streams-only versions as the running time to shoot for on the versions with sequences.
In other words, I think what you need to do is get the sequenced part of "Chasing Bunnies" to be 2:12.192. Get the sequenced part of "Rotating the map" to be 2:12.228. Get the sequenced parts of the Bowser variations to be 3:04.392. Then blend those sequences with your already-perfect streams-only mixes. I’m not sure what your methods were for dealing with the sequenced parts, whether you’d need to re-record or whether you might just be able to edit your existing recordings by shaving fractions of a second off the start of each sequence until you get the running times to match the streams’. But anyway, that’s my guess at what might help.
Only problem with my theory is that the "Bowser’s Galaxy Unlocked (Rotating the Map)" is not the exact same running length as the normal version of the track, and yet it sounds perfect. Those others I listed above do sound off to me. Still, it’s something to look into. If you don’t feel like trying to sync these layers up again, maybe you could upload the individual parts and let someone else try to put them together in Audacity?

Aaaand… Where in the game does the airship theme play with the intro (track 165)?
track 165 is found on the game disc, but never played. My guess is that it plays if you somehow manage to kill yourself in the starbit festival level.
The tracks with stream+stream+Sequenced is actually a mix of one stream ripped from the disc mixed with a line-in recording of stream+sequenced.
Recently I found a gecko code to play both streams together with the sequenced that are also forced to play with a gecko code. I could see to re-record them with this code and then I record line-in all streams+sequenced. I had my attention on different things lately.
Bowser’s Galaxy Unlocked (Rotating the Map) was a line-in recording with all streams played at once, so that’s why it is synced perfeclty
Yeah, sign me up for re-recordings with your new method. Whenever you get around to it, no rush.
is it suppose to be a rerip?
nope, just a fix for the 3 tracks that were having mistakes with the 2 streams+sequence.
And the numbering is with the "Course Select (No Intro)" included.
You fixed 3? As I mentioned in your general gamerips thread, I believe there were four tracks with the issue. To the Gateway (Chasing Bunnies), Bowser Rolling, Bowser Flaming Tail, and Inside the Dome (Rotating the Map). The Inside the Dome desynching was subtle; the other three more noticeable. Am I correct that those are all 2streams+sequence and if so, which one didn’t get fixed? I downloaded part 1 of your update soundtrack and checked on Chasing Bunnies and it still sounds off a teensy bit. Didn’t check the others yet.
The Inside the Dome had no desyncing and didn’t need fixing. It was recorded as one, since it’s possible to record from the start(because of using Riivolution homebrew, the music starts playing with a delay, which was just the delay I needed to grab the blue star to play both streams from the start)
I mssed up the update function of mediafire(I replaced the new file with the old one) when I just uploaded it the first part. Are you sure you got the latest version?. I put just the mp3/flac’s in the ‘new’ subfolder..

Huh. Alright, I’ll accept that I was just imagining desynching on that one track. As for the other three, Chasing Bunnies and Bowser Rolling are in the new folder and sound A-OK, but Bowser Burned Tail is still missing. Fix that one little thing and I’d say we can finally consider this perfect and done.
currently it’s being re-uploaded
Wow, patience really payed off this time! Thanks a lot slippy!
