Though probably already known by all FVIII players:
Goto the Chocobo forest north -east of Trabia garden, and pick up a Chocobo.(You can get one from any of the seven forests, and or the Chocobo retreat in Grandidi forest, but the one near Trabia is closer to your destinaton.) Then head farther east to the Heath peninsula. You'll know exactly which one it is cause it's low/flat and is bordered by a beach(es).

Run into the shallow water and head south until you come to a shallow beach at the edge of a forest bunch. Walk up and in and just run around in the vast deep brush. This is Grandidi forest.

Fiends:

Mesmerize/Caterpillar 7/10
Mesmerize(3) 5/10
Forbidden/Cocatrice 5/10
Marlboro 2/10
Hexadragon 1/14

Those numbers are just approximates.

These fiends may not have anything more potent in terms of spells then you already have stocked, but your random encounter rate is greater then doubled and the AP range is 4-12 per.
Also with LVL up ability you can push Hexadragon to be worth 1800 exp pts.

Having Odin helps as well, for he will Zantetsuken Marlboro's alot.

If you are in disc 2, or 3, this is a must. You can put HP bonus on a character and boost their hp so they can trade off HP+ ability for something more vital. All of this helps before you reach Ultimecia, in terms of smoothness and stability, and also it weakens the blow of having to go to the research center and catcaur island for exp/ap.

Also if you have Balamb Garden, cross the Northern part of Trabia snow fields and come out on the East side, heading south to where you walk up onto Grandidi forest with the Chocobo.

In that area, you can pilot the Garden an aim it just right so you can glide down onto one of three islands just off the to the East(your west if you can from the North facing South) On these islands you'll find Gayla's who have the useful Meltdown magic. Stock at least 300 so your main characters can junction.

My question was :

Chicobo/choco world.

First time I played FVIII I didn't have '7 blocks' free, so I couldn't do it. Now that I don't play PsOne games that often, I don't have 7 free blocks again either.

Can someone briefly outline what Choco world is and what's the advantage or purpose of it?

TIA,

Chocobo World is a mini-game that requires a PSX accessory called a PocketStation, sold only in Japan. It's not that hard to find an emulated version of it on the internet, so before you consider buying a PocketStation on e-bay you might want to download it and consider what a piece of crap Chocobo World is.

Well this is kinda odd cause I never noticed before but I have two pretty filled memory cards for the PSX and on the one I had in slot 1 that I was using for FFVIII, I couldn't even get the option to 'save' choco world.

But in slot two I had a madcatz memory card and it gave me the option, even though I was low on space.

If I need the Pocket then why did it allow me to save?

Ack I'm lost.

It may have allowed you to save because I think even if you don't have a Pocketstation, it still creates a save file when you go into the Chocobo World options from FFVIII and create a chocobo. But it's purely the creation and it won't let you do anything with it.

BTW, you can get some great items from Chocobo World, but there really isn't any reason other to play it other than that, other than leveling up Boko, which isn't that great. (I finally got Chocobuckle. Nothing all that exciting, it does over 9999 damage, but nothing Eden can't do.)
