I'm a huge fan of non-fiction books, I don't know why but I can't settle into a good fiction. I recently read Turning Pro by author that I cannot remember. The professional always gets to work early, if you're on time then you are late!
Hehe, I've recently read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. It's a book about people who achieve extraordinarily like the beatles, Bill Gates, or even geniuses. It takes 10 years to attain mastery kids :O

And The Mountains Echoed, By Khaled Hosseini.
This wasn't his best, but it was certainly interesting seeing how all these characters and stories intertwined with one another. Could have been read like a series of short stories to be honest.

I've just finished Norwegian Wood from one of my favorite writers of all time, Haruki Murakami. I was initially skeptical before picking up this book at the library. Reviews spoke of how it deviated from the surreal elements of some of his works, and focused on a more realistic approach that echoes the nostalgia of the late 1960s. Did it detract from the novel's premise? Nope...it was a well-written piece of work.

A Father's Love
http://www.amazon.com/Fathers-Love-Unrelenting-Battle-Abducted/dp/B00C01HY42
It usually takes me a while to finish a book, but I finished this one in 2 days because I was just so engrossed in it.
Copy pasted from description:
What would you do if your four-year-old son was abducted—by your spouse?
In June 2004, David Goldman took his Brazilian wife, Bruna, and their son, Sean, to the airport. She told him that they would be returning to New Jersey after a two-week vacation. Once there, however, Bruna informed Goldman that she was staying in Brazil—and keeping Sean.
In the courts, Goldman found himself outmaneuvered by the legal machinations of Bruna’s new husband, a member of one of Brazil’s most powerful families. But Goldman never gave up, appealing to the media and the highest levels of the U.S. government for help. A Father’s Love is the story of Goldman’s incredible five-year battle to reunite with his abducted child – and an inspiring celebration of an ordinary man’s love for his son.

Well, if you like a series of stories, where the storyline is followed book after book, I have to recommend:
Sandman Slim series
Repairman Jack
Iron Druid
and, most of all, the Dresden files series by Jim Butcher. Also, don't forget the "in between" novels on many of these, which repair holes in the plotlines.

I just finished the first half of The Penguin History of the Second World War by Peter Calvocoressi. Bloody great long thing it is but the first half deals with the European / North African theatres. Very good it is too and every third or fourth page there's some terrible statistic about deaths or refugees which makes you think about the horrific cost of it all. The second half deals with the Pacific Theatre but I need a break before I tackle that.
