Information
Over a series of weeks, I ripped and polished this release; however, it is still not as good as I could have hoped, as I was unable to identify a number of tracks. AudioKinetic WWise, the audio engine used by the game, is infamous in Assassin’s Creed II for not playing the music meant to be played when the player arrives at a point in the game. For example, when I played the end boss fight, there was no music, while a heavy rock/electronic song was supposed to be playing. As a result, many songs that are included in the rip I did not hear while playing the game. Nevertheless, if anyone has been able to hear these tracks ingame, feel free to contact me via PM to send me the file names. With that note, let me elaborate on the ripping process.
The AudioKinetic WWise format was cracked by HCS – the particular system used in ACII was based off the Xiph Vorbis format (with a few XMA tracks). I have edited and suitably looped and faded the tracks as they are heard ingame. This music was ripped from the Xbox 360 edition, without the 2 DLC’s; however, while playing from the PC edition I did not encounter any new music in the two levels. I have compared the music, anyhow, with the PC edition, and discovered the quality was still the same (an unfortunate 32000 hz). For the tracks that did not need editing, I left them in their original bitrate, to avoid further loss of quality through transcoding. That is all for the ripping process.
Enjoy, everyone!
By the way, I am planning on putting up a best tracks selection in MP3 formatted like an official release up on my site soon. VGMHub (http://vgmhub.foroomy.com/)
If anyone wants to support my ripping, please donate! (ISP is being stupid, upgrading or changing ISP) (Used console for more tracks identifiable)

Yesterday Jesper has posted 4 in-game tracks not included in OST (with official tracknames), check it at Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jesper-Kyd/93907508766
How timely of him to post them! 😉 I had this brought to my attention back in the request thread, and unfortunately it seems that I forgot to label the "Christina" track, ugh. I do have the other tracks labeled, with slight variations in names.
@all
You’re welcome. 🙂

don’t know if it helps, but this track is called Cabala (or Kabala?) from Boomerang
Here it is, with too much fx to appreciate it, sorry.

The weird thing is that it wasn’t even played in the game. 😛
Yeah WWise system has bugs, same thing happened in too human in the everlasting boss fight the whole track wouldn’t play and skipped.
Wow. Never would have imagined that developers would use such a faulty musical system for a big title like Assassin’s Creed II.
@nickx Well, when I played the game, there wasn’t any different music in the PC version compared to the console version. It has new tracks compared to the official soundtrack – much more. In any event, I ripped this from the console version.
@Doublehex, Thanks. 🙂
Thanks for the share, Tartarus
Oh cool, this is going straight to the iTouch. Love you guys.
NP. Just doing my duty to those that don’t see the point of Lossless; 🙂
Im not trying to start anything here but why do you always try to plug in : omg lossless is pointless".?
and anyway lossless is not really related to this post because this rip was ogg sourced.
and anyway lossless is not really related to this post because this rip was ogg sourced.
Because that’s what I see it as: pointless. I don’t hear anything different from a VBR V-0 MP3 than from a FLAC or OGG. That’s just my opinion, and I see no harm in expressing it.
You like lossless: fine. I do not, so I put out a lossfull release for those of my point of view.

Just because you can’t hear any difference doesn’t make it pointless. Lossless is there for a reason, people who have high fidelity equipment might favor lossless because they would like to get the full richness of the music, and i appreciate that.
Do you know how many frequencies are cutoff in an mp3 file versus a lossless file? MP3 by now should become outdated, hell they have 1-2tb hd out no for under a hundred so space wouldn’t be a problem.
Lossless if far from pointless compare to mp3, If you do your research then you’d know hex 🙂

Okay, technically you are right. If you look at it from a technical sense, MP3 is inferior.
But if I do not hear any sort of difference between a lossless and a lossfull, if the only difference is the technicality and the larger file size, why would I go lossless?
Logically, I wouldn’t. So I am quite happy with MP3 VBR V-0. 🙂
BTW, when are you going to validate me on VGM Legacy? I’d like to post some stuff, y’know! 😐
I really shouldn’t have to beg to get in. 😛
I’ll see about my Age of Conan rip.
troll, please die.
its obvious everyone hates you.
but i don’t want some innocent persons thread close so i won’t say anymore.
Damn Ubisoft for not using better quality in a today’s game!!! They have NO excuse whatsoever. 32kHz is 2000s standard, even late 90s!

Agreed, well usually ubisoft uses 44hz to 48hz, but since they adapted that stupid WWise audio platform they used 32hz i guess to save space or what not.
THERE HE IS. GET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!
(a group of people carrying pitchforks and flaming torches rushes past)
HOLY CRAP Thank you THANK YOU!!! I’ve been searching frantically for this!!!!!! Yeahhhhhh >:)
EDIT: Oh, and 096 Unknown 18, it’s the tune that plays when you first get inside Animus 2.0, the prelude to the first fight, so to speak.
Tartarus is female, unless if british people call females mate also lol.
In short, this rip here has everything the official soundtrack has to offer, and more.
Now I’ve finally got it, but downloading from the given sites is such a pain, given the sh*t speed I get in my college. But mediafire gives much higher speeds for free users. If only i could trouble you to add Mediafire as well to the upload sites.
Still gr8 rip of a masterpiece. Thank you.

What format was Tartarus’ original upload? According to my calculations it was around 320k (mp3?).
Maybe the original file format on the game disc is ogg vorbis, and they were just extracted.
Thanks in advance ! 🙂
