As you have noticed that this was just a rumor... I had no idea that it was either. I'm a bit upset by the fact that it was. Anyway it's a sad sad story. But here is an idea that could brighten some faces. I was wondering if any of you wold like to partition a letter to Squaresoft stating that they need to remake FF VII in a full graphical remake. Meaning that they could remake the game exactly the way it is, just in FF X graphics! Think of the supreme enlightenment that we could be in!:D I have also heard that it was going to happen in a few rumors with my buds, but I'm not sure. I think that we should let Squaresoft know anyway that it should be done. I hope that in the next few years it will happen, but who can tell. Let me know how you guys feel about the situation.

Yes I was quite excited with hearing that there was gonna be a remake of FF7. I was very disapoited when I learned that this was only a rumor so I really hope this letter will ensure that there is a remake comming of FF7 cuz it is the best FF ever.

It wasn't a rumor, sqaure did actually plan to remake FF7, FF8 and FF9 for the PS2 but because FF movie didn't do very well they had to scrap the project because they lost alot of money.

i think it would be a bad idea. the graphics in FF7, though crappy compared to todays standards, were a big part of the game. it wouldn't feel right playing it with Cloud actually having a nose and mouth, and fingers during battle :D

The idea definitely wasn't a rumour, as I read articles backing it up in gaming magazines. I didn't think they were re-doing the graphics though, I thought it was going to be more like the FF Anthology/Chronicles-esque remakes, with maybe a few extra FMVS or features. Has that project been totally scrapped? That's a shame, since my brother kept my copies of FF7, 8, and 9.

I agree with Amarant. The graphics are part of what FF7 is. What might be cool, though, is if they made a direct sequel.

Im pretty sure that the project isnt totally scrpped but just on hold. From what ive read square intends on releasing (for the ps2) one final fantsy game every 1 1/2 years and another rpg (like the chrono sequel) and a special project (like the ff7/ff8 remakes or updates) every other year

I wouldn't mind seeing Cloud and the others looking normal, I can say I can't imagine it, but if it did come to it then I reckon it would be smart.

If you did it would take away what would make it classic. just like starwars for instance they just keep remaking it and remaking. It's stupid too it just made it seem like they were trying too hard. If it was the best and the greatest don't even try to put a dent in it. Or try and wing it just to see if it was better. leave it, I like it you guys seem to like it too, and if it is awesome what's there to change.

I think a remake or a squel would be good. A remake on the PS2 becouse of better graphics and such, and a sequel because I am anxious to find out what happend since meteor.

geeze people, really...I think, just like SW, FF7 would end up being totally ruined...leave it as it is, it's a great game, and there's nothing more to it than that..

If you want to see sequels or add-ons, make a fan-fiction or go and read one...

i heard of the remake on the ps2 in a magazine my friend has.... and the forums im talkin about is off-limits to ne noobies... even i cant get in but i have a friend who is part of it....

I totally agree with that. Remake FF7 and then do a sequal cus I to want to know what happened after the meteor thingy. The only thing would be finding a new bad guy for the sequal since Shrinra and Sephiroth are both finished.

But not only the graphical remake, but the characters could have voices as well like in FF10.

FF10 is actually getting a sequal (FFX-2) so maybe this gives more of a chance for a sequal. I been searching the net all morning trying to find info and came across a few forums, some with links to petitions in and others with pics of cloud/sephiroth remade in better graphics.

I don't know if you realize this, but the remade versions of aerith, yuffie, cid, sephiroth, and Cloud totally kick so much ass it isn't even funny. No, i never agreed when people talked about remaking the game with Aeries coming back to live or not dieing. Aeries' death is one of the most important parts of the game and that is the main incentive that Cloud has to kill Sephiroth, not cus of meteor, but for revenge for killing Aeries.

If they were to make a direct sequel then its gonna be stupid cos we know that Red XIII survives 500 years later so that would be one flaw in it. But they could make Red XIII the main character but i think that would be crap.
If they are to do anythin to it then a remake is the only thing they should do and put it on the ps2. I don't think that many people would buy a remake cos lots of people would think 'I've got that already why spend the cash', people like us might buy it but not many others, so that would probably deter square from doing so.

Actually thatz really truthful I never thought bout it till now but yeah, that last finishing OmniSlash seemed to make everything bad in the world go away as I had finially realizd Aeris Death was avenged...then again I didnt use aeris that much, but still he had no right killin her! :D
