A few notes before I begin.

2. Only one of the following albums are my rips. All are my uploads. It is not my intention to step on anyone's toes.

A few questions in mind. The Battlestar Galactica live concert are rips from the youtube videos? If so, are they in good qualilty? And the best of BSG music S1-4 with Cast and Crew. What's Cast and Crew mean?
Anyway's thanks for this, helps out alot!
All except the Buck Rogers suite are from youtube, so yeah, the quality's not that great. But 112kbs is what my converter spit out, rather than the usual 71kps for youtube. I don't know why. The guy who put up the Buck Rogers suite has not yet posted any other parts of the concert. needless to say, finding the rest of this concert is one of my higher priorities.
My understanding is, and I could be wrong, is that the cast and crew promo is exactly that, a disc issued at the end of the series for the wrap party. Since it has no new material, this cannot be confirmed. But since I can't be sure it isn't a fake, here it is.

I have a lossless APE file I ripped long ago, and now that I've had some time to mess with it, I find out that the CUE sheet for disc three somehow overwrote the CUE sheet for disc two!
This has been quite a fine mess!
Really? Is there any way I can get a copy of this? I'm planning on expanding beyond mp3's to lossless.
Have you tried seeing if there is a program or plugin that can generate one?

I just wanted to chime in and tell you that the "Cast & Crew" Best-Of is NOT a fake. Somewhere on his blog, McCreary wrote that these CDs were produced when the Season 4 OST wasn't produced yet, so the S4 tracks on the Best-Of would be different from those on the regular S4 OST...and they are. Listen to "The Resurrection Hub": Around 2:50, the Best-Of version takes a different path, with a nice statement of Boomer's Theme before entering into the final statement of the Hub theme, while the OST version skips this part and goes right to the final statement. As for other tracks, I haven't listened to them yet, but this should suffice to prove that this is a genuine item. Thanks for providing it!
Thank you for the confirmation. I just recently came across a note on his blog confirming the existence of the Cast & Crew album, but I wasn't yet able to confirm if the music was actually from it.

A question about BSG4, Caprica and The Plan / Razor, could you scan the complete covers (including cd) in 300 dpi or are included on the links?
Not having any of the originals, I have nothing to scan. However, the flac version of Season 4 includes a 1200x1200 version of the front cover. The flac version of Caprica includes full scans. All albums include at least a 500x500 version of the front cover. The mp3 versions have 500x500 front covers.
While I agree that full scans would be nice to have, my priority has been on the music itself.

I ripped the complete Soundtracks for "Razor" and "The Plan" from the Blu-Rays but haven't found the time to edit them yet.
Can anyone recommend a great and free audio cutter program?
You might try audacity (
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).
It edits, and can be saved in a number of formats, both compressed and loselss.
Is this an isolated score, or does it have sfx?
Also, when it's finished may I repost it here?

Okay, I'm done with the converting and cutting.
Oddly the album length dropped after converting the DTS to uncompressed WAV.
The Plan is now about an 1 hour long and Razor just 42 minutes. I still kept the "Complete Score" tag cause I'm pretty sure its all the music that was featured on both movies.
I'm uploading them now to Mediafire.

Hrm. There seems to be covers embedded in the MP3s, but Tag&Rename can't read them for some reason :notgood:
EDIT: Nevermind, I see now that they are two different covers for the official release of these scores.
Yeah, I finally saw those when I inspected the metadata, (after I did these covers.) I chose not to use them because they are the covers for actual scores, and not distinct from what the graciously uploaded material. In fact, since both covers list the titles of both movies, it's difficult to see from the cover that, for instance, the Razor rip is only Razor, and not Razor and The Plan.
This makes it a little clearer. (And it's a tad bigger.)

Hey everyone,
Both isolated scores come from the french Blu-Rays. I don't know if the US releases had them too.
And of course you can repost them on the first page. Thats why I put them online afterall!
I put the covers of the Plan/Razor release in there via Itunes. But I already replaced them with Bdiddys Covers. They are amazing!
Of course I can upload them in lossless but I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to that subject. You guys want the uncompressed WAVS (already edited) or the original DTS files (one file per score)?

I suppose concerning filesize the easiest way would be to convert the uncompressed WAVs to FLAC, but I don't mind some editing, so the original DTS files are fine for me, too.

Wow! Thanks for your hard work!!
flac seems to be the most popular loseless format here. If you did use audacity you can save the files in flac format.
I was also curious about another thing. At the beginning of Razor, when Cavil meets Ellen in the strip club, there's a band playing a sound in the background. That song (I believe performed by Bear McCreary's brother, Brendon,) was originally written for the back half of season 4 for Joe's bar, but never made it. Instead, it got used in the strip club. What makes it especially interesting is that it refernces Galactica's trip to Earth and life among the Fleet. (Plausible here because the composer might have visited an oracle.)
Anyway, I suppose it wasn't included on the isolated score, or it'd have been ripped with the rest. Is it even on your version, and if so, in what form?
Thank you again,
JonC

I think you're thinking about "When Will the Work Be Done". It was created to be used for Joe's Bar, but instead, it was included in one of the series finale's flashback scenes.
Linky link : (From Bear's brother's band, Brendan's Band, Myspace page)
http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=19228646&blogId=501740983
Also, this scene you're describing is from the Plan, I think, because neither Ellen or Cavil appear in Razor. The song in the background is the instrumental version of Apocalypse.
Just wanted to clarify a thing or two, no harm intended. ^^
You are absolutely right. Real Life was making things difficult when I made that post.
thank you for the link to that song.

Hello, on these Razor and Plan scores theree seems to be some major poeces of music missing. In Razor the battle music when Pegasus vipers engauge the old school vipers is missing, also there is not the film verison of Husker in combat, only yhe album version which is missing the atmospheric flight battle which contains a part of the track prelude to war.

I don't know about anyone else, but ever since I first watched Battlestar Galactica approx. ten years ago, I fell in love with one specific piece of music. I've searched and searched, but I've never been able to find this piece (as it is heard on screen) on any released album. I finally decided to rip it from the DVD myself.
The piece I am referring to is the main title theme from "Saga of a Star World."
I ripped the audio with Audacity, edited with GoldWave, then converted to FLAC with Audacity and MP3 with CDex.
I don't know if the sound quality is 100% "lossless" for the FLAC version, and I don't really care. If someone can do a "true" lossless version, please be my guest. I'm happy with this for now.

JonC, awesome work! :)
While I'm not the biggest fan of Bear McCreary and his take on the Battlestar Galactica-franchise (the mini series and Caprica excluded), I'm very much a fan of the "original" series' music and its composer Stu Philips.
Since you also included the score for Buck Rogers - one of the first records I ever bought - I would like to point you (and the rest of the readers here) to two links on youtube (notes quoted):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n-2-8C10Qs
Notes:
This version of the Electronic Tune called "Jelly Belly" is a re-constructed Version as can be heard in the Theatrical release of "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" from 1979.
The source was an old german VHS Tape. So i cut out some music pieces, delete the Dialogues and put the whole pieces together in an arrangement. Due to the circumstances of the dubbing, there are some missing further pieces it is unfortunatley not the whole track as can be heard. Sorry for this.
But this is, as far as i know, the only recording of the Film i.e the pilotepisodes Version of this very great and rare electronic piece of Music.
According to Mr Phillips the final Mix resp. the final take of that Music lies in the vaults of MCA Records, and it seems there is never a chance for a decent release of the original recordings :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik1hpDlPH3o
Notes:
This is a very very rare alternate version of the electronic dance track from the recording sessions to the Score of "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" back in 1979.
At the beginning you can even hear the Soundengineer or the Tapeoperator.
Neither this or the final recording of that track can be found on the Original MCA Records LP or the Intrada CD.
According to Mr. Phillips he used a lot of vintage Kurzweil, Oberheim and Moog Synthesizers for this very moody track, played by Ian Underwood and Michael Boddicker. Also the title "Jelly Belly" is from his remberance.
The final version can only be heard in the Pilotepisodes or the Theatrical Version.
____
From my own personal experience I would also like to point out that the German band Kraftwerk has a track from around the same time (1978) on their album "Die Mensch Maschine" ("The Man-Machine") that sounds very similar to Jelly Belly:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7cMCatM-fo
Inspired? Maybe. Similar? Definitely!

On a couple of the files, Jon, the password is actually z3ro.....a mis-type. you should try either....
All the ones that were re-upped are z3r0. The earliest links that still work (including most of the megaupload links) are z3ro. I believe that which ones are which are listed in the actual entries for each album. (Which has the appropriate password under the link.)
Unfortunately, there is no way for me to check without downloading it, then trying to open it. If you know of a specific case where it is wrong, (Buck Rogers, for instance, is labeled correctly,) please let me know and I shall adjust it.
Thanks again for the information,

any plans for future blu ray rips???
Well, I didn't rip them. Mino Dan did. I have neither a talent for rips, nor a Blu-Ray player. The real key may be whether they have an isolated score. I'm not familiar with the Blu-Ray releases, so I do not know if any others were released in this manner. (A previous poster indicated that the isolated track was on the European release. I cannot confirm this. If true, you might have a better chance finding it than I.)
Sorry I'm not able to help,

redid 'the plan' artwork and drew up a new cover for 'razor' to fit with the continuity of the previous albums a little more.
hope you guys can get some use out of these.

Thank you for the effort. My full size ones are on page 2. I did a Razor cover in the general trend of sub divisions used on progressive Galactica covers through Caprica. My Plan cover is radically different so it doesn't get confused with the official release.

Thanks for The Plan & Razor 'Complete' scores. Ok, I think I can stop the confusion here. RE: The film version of "Husker in Combat" contains the battle percussion motif used in the original Pegasus episodes of the series. Therefore, I think that due to reuse issues, any music that was tracked from previous episodes may have been left out of the isolated audio track for RAZOR. Am I right, Dino_Man?

bdiddy1979 uploaded that music a while back and it can be found on page 3. His version doesn't have SFX that I've noticed, but it does include Patrick Macnee's opening narration. However, an mp3 version is now on the compilation album and can be found there as well.

I was curious if anyone else might be interested in some of the Unreleased music from CAPRICA? I have an about 75% clean "Apotheosis" track along with a 98% clean "Differently Sentient" track along with a clean "Series Finale Credits" track.
I have all the episodes in 5.1 and have been tempted to rip more of them to get more of the music. I can take requests if anyone would like and do my best to rip what I can until there is an official release which Bear says is inevitable.
Right now what I have is:
#) CAPRICA (Main Title) - [00:47] *Clean (Not Rip)
#) Apotheosis - [05:55] *Some rip
#) Differently Sentient - [04:41] *almost completely clean
#) Finale Credits - [00:20] *clean

that would be great!
as for requests. obviously anything would be awesome. but...
from "rebirth", the underscore from the memorial would be cool.
from "there is another sky", like anything.
and "end of line", the opera played at the climax.
but as i said, anything you post would be very much appreciated.

You are amazing for posting all this! very nice job sir! :D
One question. Is Battlestar Galactica: The Best Of Seasons 1-4 the album that Bear McCreary talked about that's suppose to be really rare?
My understanding is that it's a cast and crew album made for the wrap party after season 4. Oddly enough, that means some times the music is not the same as the final version.
As for rarity, it's certainly not common, but I don't know if it is the same as what McCreary is talking about.
JonC
I found this on his blog. He posted this back in 2009
Future Releases:
There are several other future releases that I’m working to bring to all of you. As I mentioned before, I’m hoping to assemble a multi-CD set of un-released material from all four seasons, perhaps even including demos, sketches, out-takes, source pieces and other odds n’ ends I’ve produced for the series. I am certain that there will be more “Music of Battlestar Galactica” concerts this year and next, one of which will hopefully lead to a concert DVD. There are also tentative plans for more ballet performances, orchestral concert suites, documentaries and sheet music releases. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is… I’m not done delivering the Galactica goods. :)

I have not listened to them side by side. There is an earlier post on this thread who mentions that they are the same track names, because they are for the same cues, but they are in fact, subtly different. So not so much new as variations.
As for the rest, I'm certain McCreary wants release everything he has. I'd love to get them The key will be which ones La-La Land thinks will actually make money.

From the posted Bear McCreary interview, he says (near the end of the interview):

LaLaLand announced today there is a 2CD release of The Cape next week
In the original series, after they did they the main title that showed pictures of Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict and company, there was another sequence where they showed the guest stars, producer, director, etc. Is the music for that in any of the recordings?

This is the Main Title part 2. Finally available (in the same track as part1,) with Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 (

Hello, another 'what's that music' question. In this (
http://www.collegehumor.com/video/6683770/battlestar-galactica-rpg) video, a familiar piece plays around the 44 second mark. I know that I should know it, but I just can't place it. Could someone please tell me what it is and, if they know, which album it's on? Thank you!

really? The colonial anthem? The first track of... season 2 I think? Its the track that plays as Diana Bier's shows the video she made of the inner workings of the fleet.
Amanda
01-05-2012, 06:49 AM
Yea, it's the Colonial Anthem, or in other worlds, the Battlestar Galactica Main Titles (old version). McCreary's reworking of it features on Season two, track one, called "Colonial Anthem". The discs for the old series feature many, many variations of it. It is blessed goodness.

I am interested in it. because i am the creator of the tweaked version of the theatrical version of Jelly Belly and the uploader of both versions on Youtube.
I have the Full "Jelly Belly" cue in an alternate recording as you hear on the second YT Link as mp3.

I'm a chronic lurker and I will probably remain like that, but I feel that every once in a while I should give something back to this community from where I DO download.
Apologies if this is already uploaded somewhere - but I did search the forum for "accordion" and "prelude to war" and came up blank - but here's Bear McCreary's "accordion orchestra" playing ~Prelude To War~
It is an official release by McCreary and even though it's a bit silly it's pretty rare in download circles and deserves a mention.
If you want to support McCreary buy it here: iTunes - Music - "Prelude to War" for Accordion Orchestra - Single by Bear McCreary (

Speaking of Bear McCreary music, i don't get tired of listening this particular theme that he wrote for the series. It's the theme that you hear on Season 1 CD in the tracks 'Passacaglia' and 'The Shape of Things to Come'. If I'm not wrong it's also repeated on the second season albeit in a different form on 'Allegro', and also on Season 4 on the track 'An Easterly View' here in a rousing finale.
Did i forgot some or these are all the tracks where this theme is played?

Thanks pst. This very well may be the most slower interpretation of the theme, but not without losing anything of its appeal.
I think i've found another version of the theme, this time on the Season 3 soundrack in the track 'Violence and Variations', here played sparsely throughout the track.
Here are the tracks where this theme could be found:
Season 1 - Passacaglia & The Shape of Things to Come
Season 2 - Allegro
Season 3 - Violence and Variations
Season 4 - Assault on the Colony & An Easterly View

No, I don't think so. I think I've seen a quick viper scene of her during the "Lost Planet of the Gods" episodes. Not sure which episodes, but I know I've seen her in one of those early shots.
Not sure if you're kidding. If not, rest assured, the descriptions are correct, as I was the one taking the pictures.
They shot the bridge scenes (Galactica and Cylon,) as well as the Viper shots in a corner of a small company that rents tech props out near the Burbank airport. (Their latest additions were all the mission control consoles from Apollo 13, but my favorite was what appeared to be the '66 Bat Computer.) We got a lift up and back from Richard Hatch's science consultant, Kevin Grazier, (later consultant for BSG, Eureka, etc.,) who also played a Cylon. Since he played a Cylon, and since the Cylon scenes were shot last, we had to hang out until shooting wrapped, sometime after 11. It was a long day, and we had to work the next, but it was a fabulous experience.

Listed this in another section of the forum when it should have been here.......
All booklets are available at ByYourCommand.net: Battlestar Galactica Cylon, Sci-Fi, Halo, & Robocop Fan site (

Thanks to byyourcommand and the original scanners, wherever you are! Enjoy!!
Hello, everyone. As a big fan of the new BSG series and soundtracks, I have all the official CD releases, but there are some goodies here that haven't been released that way. Unfortunately, the links for downloads like the (lossless) Complete Plan, (lossless) Complete Razor or Battlestar Galactica Orchestra are all dead and JonC won't re-upload, as stated several times on all the relevant threads. Could someone who was lucky enough to get these when the links were still alive please re-up them? It's such a shame that they're not accessible anymore. I would definitely appreciate this, and I'm most certainly not the only one.

Oh, and a sample of the Hybrid talking about the Fall of the Colonies from Razor. It's great stuff.
Thank you very much, Redhoof. Orchestra would be fantastic.
Apart from that, I'm personally looking for the Complete Plan and Complete Razor. I have the official soundtrack for both combined, but there are European Blu Rays (they aren't part of the set I have) that has the complete soundtrack (just like with Caprica), and having that would be great.

Please re-up the ORIGINAL Stu Phillips' Battlestar Galactica album!
16 tracks.
It was a re-recording and sounded completely different, compared to the Pilot Score Intrada
released in 2011. If you ask me, the old album was much better! Just compare them.
It would be fantastic to have this in 320 kbs with the source being the 1993 Edel CD. Not the
2003 issue from Geffen (which had bad sound), and not the 1999 rerecording. The real deal.

Please: Give me the original Battlestar album in cd quality. Anyone?
The Fighter Launch was so much better on it. And the Red Nova tune was also much better. I can hear it.
I must add it to my collection. Everyone needs to have the original Battlestar album, because the Season 1
release is cool, but it's a whole different orchestra. I hear it.
---------- Post added at 03:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 AM ----------
Exploration was unlistenable on the Intrada cd. I need Exploration as heard on the original album,
otherwise everthing we have achieved together so far would have been in vain.
Unless someone is threatening to murder you you or your loved ones (although given your obsession, the existence of you being able to love anyone seems remote at best,) you do not NEED any of it. You WANT it. You want it out of proportion of things most people do, but it is not required, the way food, air, shelter, or compassion are required.
You've asked.
You've asked on multiple threads, (except oddly enough, the thread for the actual album, - and no, you needn't bother.)
If someone has it, they'll put it up. If they don't they can't.
You've asked.
Nobody has it.
Move on.
If they have it and they don't want to put it up, continuing to whine will not get you want you want.
(No, I don't have it. And yes, if I did have it I wouldn't give it to you. I don't like your priorities.)
If it's that important to you, more important than food, air, shelter, or love, then go out and BUY THE DAMN THING.

---------- Post added at 11:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:35 AM ----------
I will find it somewhere else. The idea of never having this is almost unbearable. Fighter Launch is so much better on the record.
It's hard for me to understand how you don't recognize that. It's like night and day. And, if I don't find it, 320 and in cd quality,
I will have to kill myself. What're the odds?
If killing yourself is the only alternative to finding a string of ones and zeros, I recommend checking yourself into the nearest mental health facility.
If acting like a whiny bitch is suppose to impress me or anyone else, you need to return to your alternate reality of origin, the one where somebody gives a shit about that sort of behavior.

Just compare the tracks. They are different recordings. Different tracks, even! I'm mental? Galactica is of importance to me!!
The Galactica soundtrack is more than just the sum of its parts. It's a way of life! If you don't understand, why do you post stuff
under the label of 'all you Galactica need', anyway? And a thread titled 'Complete Battlestar thread', without a mention of the
classic album in decent quality? Hello?!
I'm pretty sure I can get it somewhere else. Thank you, JonC. I will keep you posted. If my search will turn out successful, I
won't have to take extreme measures. And I'm in cheerful spirits.

You... Understand how this forum works right? People share what they can when they can if they can.
If you've asked for something, and a rather specific something I might add, and no one has responded, then you'll have to wait or find it elsewhere.
It's nothing personal (although now it may be) but generally people don't have what you want, don't have it in the quality you want, don't have the time to rip/ package/ upload/ share it, or don't see your request.
There is no guarantee implied or explicitly stated that all music will be available at all times in all qualities.
I suggest you rein in your baser instincts and relax. Be thankful for what is here that you haven't had to pay a dime for.
On that note, perhaps you should check eBay?
