While reading though a new gaming magazine I got, I found an article that some of ya'll may find interesting......

New Final Fantasy Crystallizes Gamecube

We never thought we'd see the day again, but come 2003, Nintendo fans will finally be able to gloat about an RPG again. Just a few weeks ago in Japan, Squaresoft announced that it will be bringing four role-playing games to the Game Boy Advance. Along with a new chocobo game, Square piqued our interest by revealing that two of the titles would be Final Fantasy Tactics and Secret of Mana. Are these ports, remakes or new entries of the series? Square won't tell, bout our moles in Japan have dug up into that suggests that Final Fantasy Tactics will, in fact, be a enw game. While this thread of info is more than enough to make a fan boys do cartwheels for weeks, we weren't completely gushy at the knees until Square revealed that the fourth game was called Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle, and it will be used connectivity between the GBA and Gamecube. So does this mean that it's coming to Gamecube as well?

Nothing was mentioned other than this, but thankfully, a week later, Nintendo started running Gamecube teaser commercials with....you guesed it, footage of the GC version of Crystal Chronicle.

In the five seconds that we soaked in, we really couldn't make much out, other than the fact that it looks drop-dead gorgeous and should remain true to the series' roots. As of now, we can only image that the GBA functionality will be similar to Animal Crossing, in the regard that it will be used primarily to enhance the console version. All of the titles mentioned are scheduled to ship to Japanese retailers in 2003, and no plans have been made for stateside translations at this time.
---------------------------------------------------

Eh, just though maybe some of ya'll would be interested in reading that article. Yeah, it meantions a few other games, but seems to be centered around Final Fantasy.

Thoughts? Comments?

I think it is a great thing. I have a PS2 and a Gamecube and my PS2 games outnumber my Gamecube games by about 18+-. I need some good games for my Cube or I will be sad:(, and Squaersoft making games for Nintendo is the perfect opportunity:D . And I can't wait for the games coming out for the GBA either. I can't wait until the games hit U.S. shores.

I think it is a good idea from squaresoft to make games for the Cube. I was a fan of squaresoft from the 1st FF and Chrono Trigger till FF11.

The screenshots for all the FF games about to come to the GBA looked awesome. I hope that it does indeed come to the Gamecube, but if not, playing it on the GBA should at least satisfy some of my rpging urges.

Square on Nintendo was a golden era of games, and I like the Idea of FF on GC, however, I think they could keep the main series on PS and make this one for GC only, let's hope these new games are truly something to look forward to.

Is the new final fantasy on gamecube part of the series, or is it an offset like final fantasy tactics (i.e related to FF but not part of the series)

As far as I know, it isn't part of the main series, but that dosen't really matter, come to think of it, since they're all different.

Squaresoft is like one of the only reasons Nintendo did so good early on, but when they switched to the playstation consoles I think Nintendo wasn't doing very good anymore and just think about the amount of money squaresoft would make creating games for cube and GBA. I don't really like Cube though so I don't really care that much, but it is F-I-N-A-L F-A-N-T-A-S-Y...much resist urges to get Gamecube......oh boy that wasn't fun :( .

From what I heard, the GBA connectivity will act as a trade between both games and will display stats and information on the GBA rather than onscreen. I will soon buy a GBA to GC connector... but no games that really supports it (except for Animal Crossing which uses the GBA to GC and E-Reader, which I think is a smart and evil plan from Nintendo since they are selling out Animal Crossing Cards.)

Square will definitly still carry on releasing FF games for the PS2 because sony own 20% of the company.

I also heard that FFI and FFII (WSC version) will be released for PSX and so far its japan only.

Square and nintendo meens more than just more great final fantasy games. I cant wait for a mario rpg sequal or maybe a port of the original to the gba. Following the trend of snes ports to the gba it makes sense, a chrono trigger port would kick ass too.

XD, that's kewl ain't it. I knew a while back. I sure hope it's much better than any other FF game before it, so it can shove FFX up PS2's ass. Good thing it's only for the Cube.

I read somthing like that on an ff site

It siad actually there was a rival between square and nintendo

apparently when FF was making final fantasy 7 they came out with playstation and Nintendo 64. well the disc formats were better for the FMV sequences so they ditched nintendo, the company that made square famous in the first place.

later there was new managment in nintendo and square and nintendo got over there differences and now they are formatting the New final fantasy 10 for the game cube

let's celebrate :) :D :p :D

I saw an advert on the TV the other day and the game looks like a hack and slash (like zelda on N64). Does anyone have any information on this like a preview or a trailer?

Can't wait for it ! My brother had a cube for xmas(the console I mean not those evil rubix thingies)And were sharing it as I've got a PS2(one of the first in wales - proudest moment of my teenage years)In return for lending it when it comes out he's borrowing GTA:vice city-so at least were both playing masterpieces.
