For those of you who have just wondered in from the searches of the internets, please don�t hesitate to sign up to this forum. It really is quick and there�s a lot of wonderful stuff here. You�ll be glad you stayed. That�s how it happened to me. :)

I know there are already threads for Gackt but a lot of the links are down. So therefore, I have worked tirelessly to bring you a bigger and better Gackt discography collection. It took me over a month to organize my collection (over 13 gigs ^_^� ), gather the rest of what I was missing, add bonus pieces, download, upload, deal with a lot of technical difficulties on mediafire, upload again, then download again to make sure that all my links work, make logos and banners (think of them as bookmarks), build this thread to where it looks somewhat decent and is somewhat navigate-able (including a table of contents), and defrag the computer a couple times. I would like to thank all the Gackt fans out there on the net for helping make this thread possible. I especially want to thank Aoitsuki, simply_emotion, nunziajo, and Tenshin26100. (They will probably never see this thread though T.T ) :) I can almost guarantee you that this will be one the most comprehensive and complete Gackt discography/collection threads you will find on the net. And I do intend to keep up with it.

I also have a separate section of Extra Special Nice Things which includes a couple concerts, pvs, MoonChild, Gackt�s autobiography Jihaku, and some scans from the Gacktionary. After asking about the rulings on whether or not it�s alright to post these, the answer was that (in theory) since they are related to Gackt it should be ok as long as I�m posting music too (and there�s plenty of that in here). But if the links go missing, then that means someone may not agree with that. If that becomes the case, then I�ll see what I can do. So grab �em while you can :) But at the moment I�m not going to add any live interviews or performances (Utaban, Hey3, or others) until I know for sure that it�ll be alright without being deleted. If they are accepted, then I may make a separate pv section in the future.

Even if you have most of everything already, you may want to grab some of these. I added some easter eggs ;) Mostly all in the way of cover arts though�..


Also, I want to apologize in advance about some of the items with many dl links (especially the videos). I�m using Mediafire so you know of their 200mb limit, but for some reason it is constantly corrupting anything above 180mb (took me 2 weeks to figure that one out) *rage face*, so I had to make the files even smaller. Everything is packed as a .7z or rar but everything can be unpacked with 7zip. All links have been tested by me and everything should unpack just fine.

Gackt is a Jrock superstar and television personality from Shiga prefecture in central Japan. He rose to fame during his years as the vocalist for the Visual Kei band Malice Mizer before going solo in the late �90s.
Since his solo activities began, supported by his band Gacktjob, Gackt has left a huge mark on the Jrock scene as we know it. He appeared suddenly in the rock scene with the explosive debut single Mizerable, which stands as one of his greatest songs of all time. Gackt used his background in quality Visual Kei and his own passion for performance to create a level of perfectionism and quality in Performance-Rock that skyrocketed standards for Jrock artists.
Although his main focus, obviously, is his music, Gackt has worked, and continues to work, on a selection of multi-media. He has worked in voice-acting, acting, appears regularly on a variety of popular television shows, has written an autobiography, and appeared in various random product advertisements on Japanese TV, as well as been the �poster-boy� for the elitist Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic. Many of his songs have been used as the OPs and EDs for popular anime, including Mobile Suit Gundam and Hokuto no Ken. His song Redemption was used in the video game Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus, and Gackt�s image was CG-ified into the villain, Genesis whose voice he also supplied (Japanese vers). That�s just to cover a little of Gackt�s repertoire. Yes, the guy is very busy.
Gackt�s music is impossible to place in a genre; he plays what he wants, and no matter what it is, it is uniquely his and fits effortlessly into his collection. There are, of course, certain eras of influence and stages of development, which does nothing to contradict the above statement� rather it enforces it.
Gackt is renowned for his elaborate, poetic lyrics heavy in romanticism and idealism. He is notorious for making up his own kanji (chinese characters used to form words in Japanese) or using bizarre, old-fashioned kanji to add double-to-triple meanings to lyrics�which is an analytical discussion unto itself and may mean more to the scholar than the average fan, but so it stands.
That�s something that I really respect in an artist� and what Gackt takes to a whole new level. Not only does he bleed music, but it�s damn good music. He pushes everything to the limit, and this is obvious in the fact that there is not a single song that Gackt has ever put on an album that has not met a strict standard of quality and perfectionism� his standard.
Gackt�s motto is If you put your mind to it, you can do anything. And the hope he has expressed often is that his fans will remember this and always strive to do their best in everything.
I�ve found a lot of inspiration in Gackt and what he does, and I respect him more than any other figure in media that I have ever seen. If you�re just learning about Gackt for the first time through my blog, then I consider my work here a massive success! I hope you�ll check out his music and find as much inspiration and pleasure in it as I have.

Excellent thread. For completeness sake, there was a Mirror single cover that is missing(I Have all three but that cover, looks like caution banners?) and also the limited edition redemption cover/dvd thing. Those mentioned before matter not though. Also, I can probably vouch for that [2000.06.28] Original Story CD (Mirror OASIS). most likely my rip. It is one of Gackts moon stories. I had a translation somewhere but...ugh, cannot find it. If you ever need better rips(Not that these are bad) of these things let me know. I have the majority of these with the exception of That Kirin Fire promo cd. I refuse to open my Gladiator copy but I did happen to find a 320kbps rip of it over at jpopsuki. Thank you very muchChocolate Misu. Gackt needed a better thread. That other one was very random.

I wanted to post up that other cover of Mirror that you're talking about, but I just couldn't find a decent size of it to use :( For some reason the other Redemption cover you mentioned isn't coming to mind, I'm not sure if I've seen it.

Anywho, if you want, I'll give you the link of where I found the Mirror/Oasis cd. It's the only place on the net that I could find a copy of it (although I came across it by accident :p)

Maybe in awhile I'll be more compelled to put up better quality links in here. It took a lot of time and effort to get this posted yesterday even though I had been building this thread for weeks. Yeah. They have been doing alot of their independent projects. I actually went to one of the concert. In California during an anime con. BEST Performance Ever!!!! Just seeing them up close and performing together was indeed a spectacular feeling. When they did their instrumental performances, that was the most breathtaking music I've ever heard played. Agreed. That's why I'm leaving the WoWoW version up here, because the dvd release sounds so awkward. Like with the sounds they added to Ghost. All the robotic whirring is kinda cool, but the sound levels got out of hand and overpowered the whole performance. :(



I'm now in the process of re-upping part 26 of MoonChild. I hope it works with the other files because I don't wanna re-up the whole thing T.T But I will if it comes to that....

Just a quick update about the MoonChild links. I've upped 26, and tested it with all the rest. Apparently, the new file works but somehow the part 27 has become corrupted :( I'm trying to re-up and test it, but it takes about an hour for each unpack testing. I'm currently on the second try of fixing it. I'm sorry about the inconvenience.

Lol ^ That pic is actually on Jun-ji's drum kit XD It's hard to see, but you can catch some glimpses of it.

This really is a great performance. GACKT didn't have to worry about dancing or pleasing the fangirls or anything.
With such a stripped down show, he just rocked out. It's definitely a different GACKT than we're used to, but he's still awesome in this show.


And don't anyone say that I misspelled CHICKENs, it's supposed to CHICKENz :o The name was changed after the show was recorded, so here it's with the 's' and not the 'z'.


I also caught wiff of a rumor that, at the end of the show GACKT says that the tour will go to the US. I don't speak much Japanese, so I don't understand what he's saying in the show. Can anyone shed some light on this for us?

Does the Eleventh Day compilation have different arrangement of the singles similiar to how Sixth Day was hard rock and Seventh day was unplugged? Or is it just a direct unaltered collection of the singles? It would be disappointing if he didn't at least add something new to them.

This is truly a great collection and I'm thankful for that. But it doesn't satisfy my audiophile needs. It sounds like something is missing, it sounds dull. It sounds a lot better with 192 kbps but 128 is a no go. The j lossless site seems down, anyone might know an alternative site and might pm me?

I haven't seen anything of any Kamen Rider really :( It all looks interesting to me though. I remember I did see a small part with GACKT in it from one of the movies, I think he smacked a guy or somethin'. It was lulzy. I've been thinking about asking you guys about the whole series and stuff, but I've got some requests and stuff to finish up before I get started on something new :p

A LOT of people watched Decade as their first series. It has some major spoilers for the other Heisei series in it, though. I'm a little bummed that it'll be so long before I can watch Decade, but that's just how it is. I've actually seen the very end of the series because it's half of the first W movie. I already rather like Tsukasa and Kaitou and I think I have a pretty good grasp on the underlying idea of the series, because of this.

I really wouldn't recommend watching them in strict order. Mandi is working on a summary thread about all the Heisei series and has better suggestions on where to start than I do. I hear W has the best ending so I've been spoiled in terms of that XD It's not strictly true, I really loved Den-O's ending and Kuuga's ending actually works for me despite other people's complaints.

I admit i've gotten spoiled by hd video, and the tv rips are *almost* unbearable to watch (i don't think anyone can blame me for wanting to watch a sharp, detailed Gackt). Unfortunately I can't buy the dvds online, nobody ships digital media to my country (and if they did, i'd have to sell myself into slavery to pay various taxes)... sooooo, please? dvd upload? :D

i would really like to watch the Kamen Rider series but i have no idea where to find subtitled versions of that show or the original japanese Power Rangers.

Also, when is Gackt putting out another single. it feels like ages since the last one (january i think). I remember in an interview last december he said he had so many new ideas for music that he could produce another album or something like that.

even though i'll admit i really haven't found any of his post-Returner singles to be very great (in fact only 2 were decent enough to go on my ipod), i always still hold hope that he will return to his glory days.
T.M. Revolution is another artist who seems to have been releasing lackluster music after a long hiatus. That Cloud Nine album was so....boring. :(

Sorry you don't like GACKT any :p Personally, I think the guy's a hoot. I like a good chunk of his music and he's got that personality that makes it easy to get a laugh from him. I first encountered him while watching New Fist of the North Star. I loved Lu:Na as theme, and then pieces of his vid of Oasis was in the credits. I had to stare at the screen a bit to determine what I was seeing. I used the backwards logic and came to the conclusion he was a guy, looked it up, found I was right, and found he a ton of music. I guess I haven't listened to much MM because that's not what I started with :p

I'm not sure what bit rates you have these at, but I'm pretty sure mine are at higher levels. Specifically, I have 0079-0088 at 192, and 0079-00888 Amuro and Char editions at 320, as well as Love Letter and Metamorphoze at 320. (Actually, all of them are now at 320.)

sigh....still dissappointed by Gackt's recent singles. but at least he added an english version of one of his earlier/good songs on the latest single.

btw, who the heck is the white guy who is singing with him in the pv for the song? never heard of him before, but he must be big for Gackt to work with him.

First couple reviews are in for Bunraku, since its apparently opening in some theaters this friday. They aren't looking too good:

i may still see it if my theater plays it, since i like the cast in the film. And i'm really curious to see Gackt's acting skills. i saw Moon Child, but either it was so long ago or the film was so bad, i can't remember anything about that movie. :(

I'm starting get upset myself :( I've been trying all month to find out if any theater around me is going to play it and I can't get any kind of answer :( Every movie site I look at won't tell me :sad:

Sorry, I don't have it setup for individual song downloads :( That would be a massive amount of work for me to do that would most likely get deleted from mediafire because it would have the names on them. All I can recommend is just doing a google search for the songs you want and see if any free music sites have them or just dl the albums from here and delete the songs you don't want.



BTW everybody, Bunraku is out on dvd now.......... I has my copy :love: It's as every bit as bad as I thought it would be :laugh:

Well i finally saw Bunraku about 2 weeks ago....man that is not a good movie. It tried to be as stylized as Sin City, but lacked the charm or character development of that film. It was alot better than the other sin city ripoff movie though, The Spirit.
most of the fight scenes were entertaining but the final fight was disappointing. Gackt's english was better than i thought. He and Josh Hartnett had great chemistry together whenever they were on screen together. i just wish they were in a better movie than this.
Although this isn't the best film in the world, you would think they had intentions of releasing this in theaters worldwide because of the high production cost they put into it. The sets had a unique paper mache type look too them that didn't look as corny as it could have if it was done by the wrong director.

Also i saw the new pv for Graffiti. it was a change from his more 'epic' type feel he puts in most of his music videos. it felt more raw and down to earth. its just too bad the song itself isn't memorable. :(

I've read that the people who wrote his Kamen music wrote this too and that's why it doesn't sound like his own stuff. But I've also heard tell that the lyrics for "Iki Toshi Ikeru Subete ni Tsugu" were by Seiko Fujibayashi who did stuff for Fullmetal Alchemist and One Piece. The video still makes me laugh though. I've also learned that the anime this song is for, Sket Dance, features a character named Dante that was designed after GACKT....... oh ya GACKT is lending his voice for him too.

As of today all of my MF links are gone. The GACKT Collection was entirely on MF. I have no mirrors to replace the links with. As of today, The GACKT Collection will be put on hold. No updates of new links will be made. Do not worry Dears, I still have everything. All is not lost. When safer days arrive, perhaps the collection shall return.

Gackt's new single 'Until the Last Day' is actually pretty good. maybe i like it more because its the theme to the new dragon age anime, which i happen to love the videogame series.

Have you thought of putting your wonderful GACKT stuff on Amazon Cloud? The Sims Resource Site (TSR) moved their entire gigantic site there, and people can still download from it, and upload to it. I personally have 100 GB for the low, low price of $20 per YEAR. You have such a great site it would be a shame for it to be on permanent hiatus.
