SO! I've been having the constant urge (need a fix) to play some FFI-IV, the ones I've never played. I was wondering if anyone could suggest an emulator to use/place to get it from? If there's a thread nearby with the same info I didn't notice it, but a link would be appreciated.

Also, when you download an emulator, do games come with it? Or do you have to get the games seperately? I used to have one and I remember playing some Chrono Trigger on it, but I don't remember much of how I got it.

Any help would be.....helpful. :D

Emulators are programs that simulate the environment of a certain system, such as an OS or a console.

In case of the latter, you have to get the games you desire to play seperately, they're called ROMs. Beware, though, a lot of the sites offering ROMs for download can be dangerous and virus-infected.

As for the emulators... There are a few for each console. For NES games I use RockNES X, for SNES ZSnes or Snes9. Keep in mind that some emulators don't support certain games - the ones I listed though at least support the more common ones.

Your best bet for getting at least the emulators is probably emuparadise, I don't know whether they offer the ROMs for the FF games. But at least it's virus-free and very easy to navigate through.

Good luck!

Uh oh! You is going to get banned!

I use Snes9x emulator and roms are illegal...

(google is your friend, don't ask where to get roms.)

Jnes.com is where I got the NES emulator I have.
I forget where the SNES emulator is.

As for the games, yeah they're separate.... It's been so long since I've hunted for them. Might have a CD rom somewhere with a shit-ton of games on it....

Use a search engine. Don't ask others.

I can't search/access those sites when I'm at work, so I just wanted some information so I could immediately get started when I get home tonight. I was asking for basic information, which I now have. There's nothing wrong with talking about a topic, as it's clearly mentioned by others in various threads.

But I have a starting point now, thanks to everyone who provided some info.

Edit: (I wasn't asking for roms themselves, just if they were seperate)

Edit: (Don't call the FBI on me):D

True there is nothing wrong with asking for info, however the majority of websites which do have Emulators and Roms do ask for you, the downloader, to remove them from your system within 24 hours or so of downloading (I used to download Roms, but they were on my old desktop PC. When that died, lost everything.).

I recall reading on one such ROM site (there's a shitload of them available), that it stated that what they are doing, hosting ROM's etc, is akin to piracy and against the law or somesuch.

It's the same thing with Napstar/Limewire/Kazaa or even Torrent sites, unless you pay some form of price for the item it's considered piracy. However, even if you pay for something, if it isn't obtained by the person selling it in a legal way (like iTunes for example) it's still piracy.

Or something along those lines. There will, most likely, always be people pirating here or there, or everywhere.

I created a thread some time ago asking pretty much the same question you are asking right now, Seru_Kai. It gave me enough info to allow me to go out and get the emulators and roms I desired.

Here it is: Thread 69392
