Does anyone know what the first place is where you can find Yuffie?
Also, I was playing FFVII and something weird happened. I found a materia that I have never seen before, that I didn't know existed. You have to understand, this is the fourth time I have played FFVII. But I was just in the cave that you go through after the midgar zolom, and I found a "Long Range" materia. Anyone equipped with it can cause the same amount of damage from the back row as the front. I know from using Barret that long-range weapons in the back row are great, so this sounds like it'll be pretty useful. (And only 8000 AP before it reproduces!)

I think the first place you can find Yuffie, is the forest outside of Junon, unless there's a forset closer by.
And i've encountered the 'Long Range' Materia before, but I never used it, it seemed a waste of time.

Any forest near Junon is the first and best place to get Yuffie, particularly if you want to date her. I've gotten the Long Range materia before, but it's nothing particularly exciting. Sure, it'll let you do the same amount of damage even if you're in the back row, but I prefer to keep my characters in the front row anyway so their limit bars will fill up faster.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Long Range materia doesn't just make you do the normal amount of damage from the back row. Even if your characters are on the front row, enemies can be on the back row which take half the normal damage. The Long Range materia also allows you to cause the normal amount of damage to these back row enemies, aswell as the front row ones. ;) I actually find it quite useful sometimes.
As for Yuffie, yeah, get her near Junon. Sometimes she does take a while to turn up though. Try various ways of running arounf the forest; try running around the middle a bit, or backwards and forwards, or run around the edge. But you'll find ehr eventually. ;) It's taken me over half an hour to find her in that forest before, but she is there. I think you should be able to find her in virtually any forest in the world, but she's most likely to turn up either near Junon or from the back of Mt. Nibel. :)

Best trick I've discovered for getting Yuffie: keep escaping from the battles until finally you fight her. Cuts down a lot of time.

Because I'm an idiot. Also, because I try not to rely on walkthroughs.

No, it's my fourth time playing it. As I said in my post above, it's just that I'm an idiot.
I'm trying to do some stuff differently this time around, though. For example, I'm going to date Barret. :)

the long range materia is one of the most useful materia. master it several times and put it on your current characters. you can now move them all to the back, reducing damage to them while htey still cause the same amount.

I was just looking at an FFVII page on gamefaqs and I found other things mentioned there that I don't recognize. (Although maybe I just forgot about them.)
-Autograph
-Combat diary
-Gambler
-Super Sweeper
Also, is there any secret to winning the roller coaster game? I'd like to get the masamune blade just because I've never gotten it before, but between the fact that my hand-eye coordination sucks and I have the PC version, I can't beat it.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">The Autograph, Combat Diary and Gambler come as rewards from the Battle Arena, and the Super Sweeper you get from getting over 3000 points in the rollercoaster game. All of these items are completely useless, so don't worry. ;)
As for the rollercoaster game, I have managed to get over 8000 points in that, so I should be able to help you here. ;) Some general hints:
~ Never let the gun get to below about half power. Always fire in short bursts rather than running it all out.
~ Aim for things in the background such as cacti. They give you a few bonus points.
~ Learn the course. When turning a bend, put the gun in a position where you will be able to shoot something instantly once it appears.
~ In the icy area, it is possible to get over 1000 points. Concentrate on destroying the falling icicles as there are often lots in a row. The floating enemies can also be shot, but it takes quite a bit of gun power to kill them. It's up to you.
~ You can destroy the big UFO near the end for 1000 points. Just keep shooting in short bursts and you can destroy it.
~ Right at the very end, just before the last corner, fire the gun just slightly left of where the lights are. You can shoot one of them for 200 points, even if you completely run the gun out of power.
Basically, you'll get better the more you play, but they're just general hints. Hope it helped. :)

Just a note about the Combat Diary, Autograph and the Gambler - you get those in the special battle, if you don't win all eight battles and get the Final Attack materia.

<font color=red face="comic sans ms">Actually, I think you still only get Tissues unless you win the special battle. The first time you win it you'll get the Final Attack materia; any time after that you may get one of the other items (Combat Diary, Autograph or Gambler). :)

Nothing, they're useless, and don't believe any rumours you migh hear that say otherwise either.
