Whew, prepare for a long post.

I'm trying to make an arranged version of the FFIX OST wth the tracks from PLUS inserted in the places where they occurred in game. Simple enough, right? The only problem is that I'm not sure where exactly in the soundtrack aforementioned tracks from PLUS go.

That's where you come in!

Basically I'm just after people with decent memories (better than me anyway) who can tell me "This song goes here not there."

I used this to assemble my playlist http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197338/38285

It took a fairly long time to go through the whole Game Track List section, but apparently it's right or something I guess, haha.

Checking yours against my playlist:
It doesn't list "Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony", but you'd know better than me if it played there. "One Danger Put Behind Us" apparently actually appears before "Arrival to Lindblum", though that's one thing that breaks from the OST's order. The FAQ puts "Song of Memories" before "Song ~ Zidane and Dagger", rather than after. "Summoning to Destroy Cleyra" comes after "Ambush Attack". It doesn't list "Doga and Une", but again, you'd know better than me. "Daughter of Madain Sari" is apparently not in the game, but that seems a decent place to put it. (I personally mixed that and "Eiko's Theme" together as one gapless track so I get the best of both without it becoming repetitive having the two tracks play in full next to each other.) "Footsteps of Desire" should come after "Dagger Remembers" and "A New Queen is Born" after "Queen Brahne's Fleet Destroyed". You have "Quad Mist" in the same place as I and the FAQ do, even though the soundtrack puts it a little later. "Protecting My Devotion" should come after "Bahamut Raid". "Keeper of Time" before "Ghost Ship". It says "Dagger Cuts Her Hair" is after "The Airship Hildegarde". "Dagger Recalls the Ghost Ship" is after "Terra". "Zidane and Dagger Separate" is after "Two Hearts Not Captured". And finally, "The Origin of Kuja" isn't listed either.

So about those unlisted tracks, do they in fact play in the game where you have them? That would help my playlist to know.

Thanks for that, I didn't think I'd be the first to try this. Thanks especially for specifying what goes where from the summoning of Alexander through to Dagger cutting her hair, that was the part I was most uncertain about.

Righty, let's go through the unlisted tracks you mentioned.

Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony - This might actually come between "Queen of the Abyss" and "Awakened Forest" now that I look at it. The song itself comes from Final Fantasy VII, but the Millennium Version from the IX PLUS OST is played by the Tantalus band after they crash in the Petrified Woods to keep the morale of the crew up. Either way it's definitely after "Prima Vista Crash" and before "Battle 1".

Doga and Une - This is originally from Final Fantasy III (the actual III, not the US III which was really VI). I stuck it after "Black Mage Village" because it's played when you look at a music box there. However, actually opening the music box requires two unique items which can only be acquired at the Treno auction house on Disk 4. Realistically the earliest it can be heard in game is way, way near the end, placing it after "The Evil Mists Rebirth". That said, it's your choice.

Daughter of Madain Sari - Well, according to http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Eiko_Carol it plays when Eiko is wandering around Alexandria Castle thinking of writing a love letter to Zidane. In that case we were both wrong, it should go between "We Are Thieves!" and "Slew of Love Letters". I think it does anyway, I can't remember if you play as Eiko before or after playing as Zidane in the bar with Tantalus. In any case, it's around there.

The Origin of Kuja - "The Origin of Kuja" is actually somewhat of a mistranslation. An alternative is "To the Origin of Kuja". This play during the end of the game when Zidane does all the running and grinding through the Iifa Tree to rescue Kuja.

And there you go. Thanks for your help, and thanks for the link to that GameFAQs thing. I'll use both your recommendations and that guide to get it right.

Ain't no thang, brother man. Thanks for the info on the missing stuff, don't know how the GameFAQs person didn't get that. And you don't have to explain the first two's origins to me, I'm a Final Fantasy nerd too, haha. I'll amend my tracklist accordingly, but I'll leave "Eiko's Theme/Daughter of Madain Sari" as I have it, so you don't hear essentially the same thing at two different points. I could upload my mix of it to MediaFire if you want to try it out.

I did the same sort of thing to combine the English version of "Melodies of Life" with the "Final Fantasy" theme like the Japanese version has. I could upload that too. In FLAC if you wanted even.
