Having recently started LANing again after a long time away, I've apparently developed motion sickness in the interval. This is a major brick wall, particularly when everyone around you is busy with UT/Tribes/Source mod du jour and you're off in a corner half ill with sickness, half from being unable to join in. Doubly annoying is the fact that I'm apparently unaffected by console games; I can play Halo etc. without batting an eye.
So, can anyone name a way of dealing with this problem?

Don't play those games that give the motion sickness. I have it myself when it comes to first person shooter games and it blows. I can't play Halo or Call of Duty. Hell I went to play FFIII on the DS and after awhile that makes my brain spin, my solution: avoid those games. If there's a cure or quick fix (and ginger pills don't work) I'd like to hear it, but I'm highly doubtful because there are warnings on the videogames that there are people who are affected by the colors/stimulation/movements of the games. If I were you I'd stick to console games since you say you're unaffected by them.

I've never experienced motion sickness except while reading when actually moving, so I don't have much first hand experience with it.
You could try one of the countless over the counter medications that are available (dramamine, for example).
You could also try to get a smoother image/motion out of your PC. Try using a higher refresh rate, enabling vsych, or turning on motion blur options. Lowering details to get a higher frame rate may also help.

Try running the game in a window, or see if you can get a smaller screen to try it out. I get motion sickness when I play Quake II on the 19" display of my gaming rig, but never when I'm using the puny 15.4" display of my laptop.
