HEY GUYS!!! ^___________^

Lightcaster here, I just wanted to know what was your fav Classic FF game of all time (that's I-VI only)? Mine is almost a tie between 5 and 6, but 6 was just so awesome that it wins. So for me Final Fantasy 6 was the greatest of them all!

Post up your fav FF game here! :D

Alright, there isn't one of these on the front page.

VI

Final Fantasy IV, but not the DS version, because that just makes it look bizarre.

IV.

XII. Call me crazy.

Although, if this is just for the classics (since this is in the classics section), I'll take IV.

Hrm, you bring up a good point, Slavka.

There is a thread for this in Gen. FF, but since I'm not mod on both forums, I can't merge them. So, I'll rename this thread, and if Agent wants to merge 'em, he can.

We're talking about FF1-FF6, right? It's between FFV and FFVI for me. FFV edges out FFVI, but only slightly.

VI for me. Terra and Celes, Edgar's Tools, the opera. the Phantom Train, big mechs, and of course, that demonic clown.

Square's golden age definitely ended on the highest possible note with this game.

VI for me, too, for all the reasons Enkidoh gave--plus the music. Fifteen years later, it is still holds up as one of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time. The sophistication of the compositions gave the visual of a tiny, big-eyed sprite elegance, grandiosity, and emotional depth.

Final Fantasy VI

It's the only classic I ever played.

FF4 was the first RPG I ever beat, so it's only my nostalgia list.

FF6 is just freaking epic.

I agree with Enkidoh regarding FFVI, and in all honesty, FFVI is my second favourite FF game.

But there's something about FFIV I love the most. Cecil starting out as a Dark Knight... overcoming the betrayal from one he swore fealty to, leaving his love behind, meeting other characters, becoming a Paladin etc...

Also... Tellah for using one of the most memorable lines ever in a FF game to describe Edward...

YOU SPOONY BARD!!

YEP YEP. You guys are dead-on. That was the golden age of not only square, but in my eyes all RPG games ever made. I loved the SNES so much, that to this day I still play. Gosh I need to go back and play FFVI again...

FFV is by far my fav of the SNES era games, Ive beaten it a few times.

Just the sheer range of combinations and possibilities that game could offer, nothing more stasifying then having 4 beserked, auto-hasted, dual wielding, ancient weapon holding tanks rip the last boss to pieces in 2 mins.

See, this is what I don't get, there's SO MUCH LOVE for the 'job system' FFs, but FFX-2 is hated.

WTF?

FFX-2 was a bad sequel. I'm sure if it was an original game, it'd be more accepted... like The Spirits within as a movie.

I have to say IV, V, and VI are pretty much tied. Golden Era ftw.

Cid's character riding the bomb down is one my favorites as well. And the story behind Rydia.

Man, this one is majorly tough to answer :O See, for me, I honestly can't choose one out of those six.. but I can choose one for every three to come out on one console :D I think for the NES games, III takes the cake, and I can only really base my opinion on the DS remake, really. It combines what made I and II great, and expands on the IDEA of job classes that was there in I (you could choose them, but not change them), and gives an interesting story like II had.
Now, for the SNES games, IV and VI are tied. V enforces more so the job classes and gameplay over its story, and while you really can't call it cliche, V's story is sure not FF's highlight. I'd say for SNES games VI takes the cake. It's the most epic, emotional, and shocking (WOR totally took me by surprise; I was anticipating something far different to come from confronting Kefka and Gestahl on the floating continent :O) and just the most well-rounded of the three. So, III and VI are tied for me out of the six :D
