Anyone watch this?
Over here season 1 just finished but I think it was aired earlier in the States.
I love it, it's really interesting to see the matchups they come up with, a shame that we have to wait until spring for season 2 :(

Fun seeing the various weapons being used in a practical way outside of over the top Movies & TV along with the history of the more obscurer weapons but some of the choices that they make like Vikings using spears as there ranged when they also had bows & arrows, or the Apaches not using muskets or rifles when the rest of there weaponry that they used would have been bought, traded, stolen from Europeans who would also have firearms.
On another board there was a discussion about the Specnaz ep. and the old marine who frequents the weapons & warfare board raged hard.

It's okay though I can say the whole macho bullshit gets way over the line in every episode.
"My Gladiator cock is larger than yours" "Nooo, my Apache cock is larger than yours"
etc.
Also the narrator is annyoing the way he imitates David Wenham as the narrator of 300.

I personaly dont watch it but one of my friends says its amazing. Next season I am going to watch it I think because my buddy raves about it.
I used to watch it a lot until I got a job. Now I forget it's even on. One thing I didn't like was how some of the match-ups weren't even fair. Like that African Zulu against...what's his face? It was obvious that a metal sword would outdo all of the Zulu's stuff.
Just sometimes it doesn't seem fair.

Worst thing about that one was it wasn't even just some Zulu vs. random celt, it was THE Shaka Zulu vs THE William Wallace. You can't compare legendary men with just raw figures collected 100's of years after the fact using people vastly different from the one your analyzing, plus the William Wallace guys failed for not picking fire-from-his-eyes & Lighting-from-his-ass as there special weapon.

Seen a few episodes and wasn't impressed at all. The macho posturing that goes on gets old fast, the narrator is just annoying, I'm doubtful of their data collection methods, and they don't tell you anything about the simulations they use to determine the winner other than a "computer genius" hits the run button.
More comedy than anything else the show did make me laugh quite a bit during the episodes I watched. A much better show in a similar vein is "Warriors" on history channel, they don't do the versus thing there but the show is much more informative and the experts they have seem to actually know what they're talking about.

I'm pretty sure it is David Wenham narrating.

I only saw two episodes, one with a samuri and someone else, and then the ninja with the spartan. I thought it was pretty neat but I just don't have the time or means to watch it. From the previews I saw some of them seem a bit mismatched, but it was still interesting, to me atleast.
I thought it was done well =/
