I guess its goodbye. Everyone is packing up and moving on. I want to thank everyone who made this forum what it is; the people who posted soundtrack after soundtrack, filled requests, and answered questions. I hope we can find a new hopefully private forum. to everyone thats leaving lets get a new hang-out only problem is how can we notify each other when we find it there must be something better than PM. i was thinking IRC?
Anyways thanks so much to everyone here. i will still be hanging around for a while while we find a new site.

Thanks For Everything,

George Fox

le sigh. you guys are being really silly.

as said in another thread:

there's no need for it to go private and no need for anyone to leave.

no one is in any danger here. worst case scenario, a company requests specific soundtracks not be posted. that's it.

going to another forum wouldn't prevent that, and going private wouldn't prevent that. it's something you have to deal with.

long story but basically

a pissed off member went to some record labels and reported the forum he caused a big panic after posting emails and stuff 1000s of times. now we arent allowed to share a few soundtracks big deal but that number may keep growing if we go private no more troll no more takedowns

This should have been, if at all (I don't think it's important at all), in the roof section to this one, as it's no download link.

Though, as Sar... I mean effulgent lovemuffin already said, there won't be any charges against any user. And even if FFShrine's music section would go down, there still would be other sites with that stuff. And those have to face the same amount of "danger" as FFShrine.

Also, keep in mind that the Japanese copyright law works entirely different, so at least the Japanese most likely wouldn't track this forum down.

So... keep on going, just remove whatever the American labels want to remove.

and you could always wildcard the titles out, just so they didn't pop in search engines. Like the one guy said he found this forum when he was looking for reviews. District 9 OST becomes Distr!@t 9 OST, I think we all can fill in the blanks. If you just blindly post the names, then you are asking to be found and attracting attention. Now, I'm sure someone is going to say how are other people going to find it in the first place. The people that share would be part of regular forums and take part, but make it harder than for any 9 year old immature brat to put it in google and it be in the top 10. Let the ill-informed and leechers of the world stick with their torrents.

yeah but the companies have very advanced ways of finding this stuff. though not specific about forums more p2p look up media defender they are hired by companies like the RIAA and MPAA to keep tabs on this stuff.i downloaded all the source code for their software you wouldn't believe what it can do (this is from 2006 i have no idea what they use now)

You know ... the lossless thread was killed off because it became a disaster with all the deleted posts (and yeah I did that as well although I pretty much waited til the very end to do so).

The point is ... nothing ... NOTHING ... is stopping us from starting a NEW lossless film/tv score/soundtrack thread. Other than Varese Sarabande (which I admit is a big chunk of stuff) everything else would still be allowable. At least if no more CEASE & DESIST letters come down the pike heh

You could privatize this subforum.

We actually already had a discussion about a privatized download subboard before, and it was denied.

Thing is, if we have it public, it encourages people to upload stuff. I, for once, wouldn't have become a contributor without FFShrine's topics first letting me leech.
Well, right now I'm not contributing because I'm kindasorta on a break, but y'know.

i said this since last year that mods need to be stricter and ban idiots with a no nonsense policy. i go to various download forums and they are either closed off, private or invite only forums which for most part they work and have been around for several years, cause the community is tight and there's no nonsense. this troll should have been dealt with since day 1. perma bans, ip bans. its the only way to preserve this community. no offence to those who run this place but that's my 2 cents.

I agree here that the mods need to be more strict, this place has the worst leecher infestation ever., there are already enough 1 posters complaining about download links in my threads, now imagine how many zero posters are leeching off of the links?

its ridiculous.

People already have to register to see links, so I don't know that going semi-private would make all that much of a difference. If this was a smaller community, doing something like moderating new members would be feasible, but I think it would be way too much on the forums as is.

I agree that these forums need more mods, though, especially since some of the mods for this forum now aren't particularly active. If Sarah is good with it I'm sure we can add a few more soon.

A mindset like this is ridiculous.

I know that not being appreciated is a horrible feeling (hence I'm taking a break from uploading stuff, as you might have noticed). People who're posting like "Where the fuck is my upload link, asshole?" are annoying and take away a lot of motivation. I know that too.

However, having people leech is not only a good thing for keeping links alive, it also promotes the idea of sharing with others. I leeched a few months only before I started uploading and contributing myself. And I'm pretty certain that this is the history of quite a lot of contributors.
Also - why upload shit if noone downloads it? An uploader is nothing without people downloading, lol.

Taisen-74656

I think that:

A) If someone went to the trouble of registering an account just to download your music, they must really want those downloads. =P

B) In vB (which, unless I'm wrong, this is?), isn't it possible to set permissions? As in, certain levels of forums that only members with the right "permissions" can see? For example, not any member (or google crawler) would be able to see a sub-forum withh a certain permission leve?
^^Hope that made sense, if not, please ask!

C) People who upload music are offering it as a privilege, a certain level of appreciation should be given for any download. Of course, "leechers" help notify when links are down, but "leechers" should always remember that the links are a privilege, and its definitely not in their place to demand that you post up a link "Within the next goddamn days yo!" (to quote a certain poster).

That would single out people like me who become contributors after getting more involved.

Only speaking for myself here:
Request which are worded like that or people who post their request in multiple threads offering that file won't get an upload from me at all, and people who post multiple times into my thread asking for a certain upload and are impatient simply will have to wait longer.
If everyone would work like that, we might be able to trim that down.

Yes but how many leechers actually started sharing music in after downloading from my threads? none.

Most of the leechers that get my links just fucks off immediately, no one says thanks, threads dont get bumped, link dies, some twats come in and bump the thread a year or months later and says: OMG PLZ reupload PLZ!!

lol, extremism has nothing to do with terrorism.

Extremism is if you are clinging to one position/opinion and are defending it with teeth and claws, and even go so far to shove it down the throat of others and use verbal attacks or violence to enforce this.

If you're only "OMG fuck those leeching assholes, they don't deserve my stuff, they should die in a fire because they are downloading MY uploads, those bastards", then I do see extremist tendencies in your behaviour.

First of all, generalization (all leechers are bad and only want your stuff without returning anything).
Secondly, attacking them verbally.
And finally, attacking those who defend and try to explain the opposition.
