One thing that I found in most JRPGs or RPGs ion general is that the main character's father comes form secret group or from a Warriors of whatnot is that at one point the parents abandon their children to fight somewhere but end of death or gone. When the family hears about this the wife usually dies, leaving the hero and his sibling with an aunt but one thing that bothers me is how they are well adjusted people after this? I know FFv isn't supposed to be deep or anything but still how is Bartz a well adjusted individual despite this revelation? You would think that he might have some issues or something but still he is alright and he is adventuring too. How is this?

Well, I don't know, but maybe you didn't notice, but right up until the opening events of FFV, Bartz had been out on his own-- apparently for a fair while, wandering with nobody but a chocobo for company. That's not exactly what very many people would necessarily consider well-adjusted.

He is still in distress under those circumstances, just young and naive and doesn't know how to examine things and himself until later in the story when things become revealed and taught to him.

He just...is. I guess.
Maybe he's one of those people who springs back from totally bizarre, unpredictable, FREAKY revelations. Just an idea.

Bartz starts the game alone wandering the world aimlessly with only a chocobo as company, if that doesnt indicate hes running away from somthing, I dont know what is.

Bartz does grow as a character when he meets the four warriors of dawn (well whats left of them) and learns about his father. He becomes less of the comic silly type and a more strong willed person, his reaction to Exdeath's void and his determination to help hos friends shows his growth.

he's filling his father's shoes, somthing he knows he was destined to find out when his father sent him off into the world. He starts off lost and lonley, covering his kind nature with a care-free attitude, which breaks often at times when he shows his heroic nature.

Ok maybe im reading way to much into this but FFV is one of my fav games ever.
