Awesome idea for a thread, and something I'm very much supportive of. I love foreign instrumental music, but my collection is criminally lacking (I've only got one full album and that's by Tino Izzo, who I believe is French. Sadly, it's only a 128kbps rip. I had wanted to re-rip it at 320kbps, but I don't even own the disc anymore because a roommate's dog destroyed it. I need to see about repurchasing it, because it's really quite good.)

Ok, Here is an album by a great Egyptian Composer named Omar Khairat. The album name is "Dameer Abla Hekmat" Which translates into "Miss Hekmat's Conscience"..
I am not much into Egyptian Music, but this guy is good.. I like his music and the somehow sad tunes. It makes u think of the Old farming methods there.

Thought I'd pitch in and share one of my favorite Chinese albums.
The album name translates to "National Beauty" and basically is 8 songs based on impressions of the 8 most beautiful ladies in Chinese history. Needless to say, the songs are quite beautiful.
I've included links to each beauty's story for those interested. Each beauty has quite some amazing background history behind her.

Yo, sorry guys there was a blackout and then another blackout WTF? So rather than trying to upload a disc than you guys could snooze through (this music is so beautiful that i've said "BEAT ME TO DEATH WITH A MACE" just to wake up) i will just upload a preview. Its also my favorite piece of the second disc (which unfortunately I no longer have in physical form- it lives through the crappiness that is low bitrate WMA though) so without further ado i present to you http://sharebee.com/27e258e8
If you don't like it don't bother downloading the disk. Chances are it will bore you to death.
Edit: Finally got the zip in, regrettably, megaupload. No worries though, this stuff is the kind that remains on the web for a while. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=22DVQ7OW no pass.

When I was in China a number of years ago, I picked up some CDs featuring instruments I was unfamiliar with. One CD called Jing Diang Zhen Cang that features the erhu has pinyin names for the mp3 names and I've uploaded it here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8P8YQDDU).

I also have Cds featuring the Pipa, Guqin, and Bamboo Flute but it is only in hanzi, including the file names (which look like pretty boxes on my machine) and I can't scan the CD jackets so I'm wondering if anyone still wants me to post them?

Thanks for all the music that has already been shared. I'm enjoying listening to everything.

Oh hell yes. I just queued up every single link in this thread in Jdownloader. Thanks, guys!

I've been on a binge of hunting down as much Bulgarian, Arabic, Turkish ect folk music I can get my hands on, and was going to start moving into oriential stuff as well. In particular I'm looking for very peaceful flute music and ambient stuff like that, as well as Erhu music and anything choral. I had no idea where to start looking, but this thread is definitely a great foundation for my fledgling collection.

This stuff all seems to be exceedingly difficult to find, especially the bulgarian folk stuff I was after. I was tempted to post a request thread on these forums but I didn't know if anyone possessed this kind of music, especially since it's primarily a game music oriented forum.

Again, I thank you all, and I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.

Can anyone identify the music in this YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ilfQCSBaEw)video? I'm trying to find out anything I can about it: Proper title, artist a CD I can obtain so that I could have it with better sound quality...

The only thing I know for certain about it is that it has absolutely NOTHING To do with Once Upon a Time in China.

It's called "中國功夫" (Zhongguo Gong Fu) by "屠洪剛" (Tu Hong Gang). The song can be found on this CD (http://music.sina.com.cn/yueku/a/32874.html).
