I'd have to say the music from the main series is better and is of a higher quality than the spinoffs and other assorted albums. Personally, I like the music from Dragon Quest 6 the most.

Some thoughts about it:

You'r not missing so much really, principally all the "CD Theater" series but they are Drama so they probably won't interest anyone anyway.
Brass quintet III is missing but can be found with a good search.
Finally a few singles like "Marriage Waltz", "March Dragon Quest"..
The recent "Best Dance Mix" (it's crap anyway), and the most recent DQ IX ost (should be findable now).

The following albums should be in "compilations" because these albums are covering multiple games:

Dragon Quest in Concert is for DQ I & II
Dragon Quest in Brass / on electone is for DQ I & II & III
Dragon Quest On Piano Vol.I is tricky, it's for DQ IV & I
Dragon Quest On Piano Vol.II is for III & II

Ugh, what a terrible release for the DQIX soundtrack. They should have just released the CD with the DS synth, because the "enhanced" version sounds awful. Anyone know when they plan to do a symphonic suite release?

Does it sound that different than the DS version? I find that enhanced versions of DS soundtracks are a must personally.

I vastly prefer the original DS soundchip to whatever it is they used to make the "enhanced" versions. Something about the texture of the sound works better. The "enhanced" tracks often sound flat, as if they lack body or reverb. It's also a cheap way of charging more money for the soundtrack, I imagine. Put the same music through a different synthesizer and *voila!* you've got a two-disc soundtrack that you can charge extra bucks for.

MediaFire is a better choice if you have to reupload, there's a lot of corrupted files, I will list them after I redownload and verify which ones. You'll only need to reupload the mp3s that won't extract - I wouldn't bother reupping the whole archive.

EDIT: My report matches Simon's so it should be accurate.

Some files I had to redownload as they were corrupt and that fixed them. The first time I used IE and I redownloaded using FireFox and the files were OK.

These files are corrupt on the server, you can redownload them to double check and if so I would just upload the missing mp3s. Another option for future is to use WinRAR's "protect" option which adds a few bytes so damaged archives can easily be repaired and no need to reupload.

No, I don't have any of the singles.

Singles usually have the same music found on the full CDs, so they're usually just a waste of space, unless they have exclusive tracks.

So I've rethought the purpose of this thread. I think what I've uploaded so far serves as a good base for the new listener, but I don't have every Dragon Quest album. I'm asking for contributions and help in filling out the gaps so that this forum can have a nice and neat directory of Dragon Quest in one place. Credits will be given where due. I've just done 'Dragon Quest Swords' (which didn't sound so flat after repeated listen).

I've had a look and the tracklist is merely combining "Suite Dragon Quest" and "Suite Dragon Quest II" orchestral/jazz/live recorded tracks (albums with catalog numbers BY30-5121 and BY30-5136). Therefore there really is no need to buy or upload this. I know there have been a recent run of reprints for Dragon Quest albums so I'll update things as soon as I'm able.

AFAIK there was no official release. However you can get the SPC file here: http://snesmusic.org/v2/profile.php?profile=set&selected=15707 -> play in winamp convert to anything etc. Goronmoron also has a version in his thread (haven't downloaded to check).

Ok, track 34 is the extended version of Fighting Spirit from DQ III Super Famicom version. This is sort of a tough one, because in the NES/GBC versions of DQ III, Fighting Spirit is the name of the battle theme, and a version of this song with a different opening is called Time of Battle. However, on the DQ III Remix OST, the normal battle music is listed as Battle Theme, and this different version of Time of Battle is called Fighting Spirit. I think either Fighting Spirit (III Remix) or Fighting Spirit Extended (III Remix) would be a good title. All of this is silly, since all three of these are the same song, just with different openings and track lengths...but whatever. Still got NOTHING on track 35, lol.

FINALLY...that took forever to find. Track 35 is World of the Strong from DQ VII. That should complete the the whole list now!

As a huge fan of Koichi Sugiyama's music, i could finally found this rare March Dragon Quest IV single. It's a commercial single that contains 3 tracks from "Dragon Quest in Brass II" album. I don't know why but they've combined Balloon's Flight and Sea Breeze tracks into a single track. "March Dragon Quest IV" is an awesome medley and i strongly recommend it. But Dragon's Den (woodus) has more or less complete gamerip of the DS one (Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest 2: Dai-sensha to Shippo-dan/DQ Heroes Rocket Slime). :)

Alright, after FINALLY getting a hold of another Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra download, I was able to compile the tracks into one album for Dragon Quest III since the one listed here is down. You can download it from Mediafire here:
