Ok in all seriousness was I the only one who liked this movie?
It seems where ever you go on the net there is someone talking trash about this flick but I loved it. Of course I've never seen Dragonball the anime. I started with Z so maybe that's why I like it and the rest of earth can't stand it.
Any thoughts.
I started with Z as well (didn't get Cartoon Network until the Majin Buu saga) but I haven't seen the movie. Wanted to because I was curious. If anything, I'll rent it on Blu-Ray. Just because of the special effects and stuff.

The problem with Dragonball Evolution is not that it's bad adaptation, but that it's a flat-out sh*tty movie. How anyone could like it and consider themselves a fan of Dragon Ball or even moving images just doesn't make sense. There is no true redeeming quality here as the story, the acting, the effects, and the fight sequences are all piss-poor. Any claim that this was a "good movie" should be met with an immediate slap to the face.
If you think Dragonball Evolution is a good movie, then you don't know what a good movie is...

It's unfortunately true...
Dragonball Evolution is f**king terrible. If I had the time and energy at the moment, I'd explain...

I'm almost afraid to ask do you think the follow up will "help" the series.
There's going to be another movie?

Dragonball Evo...why..god..ohh! why!!!!,excuse me(had to get that out). This movie just feels extra chessy idk maybe it's the dialog like it was made for tv feel.Or the fact that Chow-yun-Fat has done better in his career(Crouching Tiger,Hard Boiled).Goku was nothing like the cartoon he had no energy, freaking tool..near the end of the movie I didn't care who lived or died(maybe because I was asleep). It's just an ordinary action movie with no real plot that gets dragged until it finally dies a slow death.

So it's pretty similar to the cartoon. No shock there.

Except that it has no personality, no effort put into the fight sequences, and plot-holes that even those that hate Dragon Ball can make no excuse for.
There is no comparison between the anime and this movie. Hate it all you want, but Dragon Ball at least has its appeal...

Ok, ok, ok. So...if those are your "problems" with the movie, please explain how the anime was any better?
Personality? You're fucking kidding right?
Effort put into fighting sequences? Like...the 10 images they repeated 50 fucking times to create one fight?
Plot holes? If there was a plot in the anime, it was made from a piece of shit that was left in the toilet by some 10 year old retard that forgot to flush.

That was brutal. But come on dude have you even watched the show? The fights were the best part and hence why people expected the same epic scale they had.

fights aren't that great, unless you enjoy watching three episodes of people charging up.
SUPER SAIYAN 3!!!!
UUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (catch breath) AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (end episode. repeat for 2 more episodes with occasional "oohs" and "aahhs" from Z characters).
But I wouldn't have minded the lightning speed fights in the movie. I haven't seen it yet (don't think it will be on blu-ray :( so no HD effects) but I still plan on renting it.

I'm half-tempted to laugh at this and half-tempted to facepalm, but my fear of doing both at once and accidentally eating my hand has stopped me from doing either.

This is anime-snob bullshit when it comes right down to it. Your petty snipes at the source material aside, Dragon Ball Evolution is a Cleveland-steamer in every way. The script is fuck-awful and filled with plot-holes. The performances range from phoned-in to embarrassingly abysmal. The fight choreography is sparse and terrible at the same time, and the movie doesn't even get the source material right. That defies logic seeing as how there's really nothing that complicated about Dragon Ball.
Fact of the matter is this movie sucked on its own accord.
