Hi there,
I'm a returning member (been gone for awhile). I have been looking for some good violin music - from individual songs to musicians - and I thought FFShrine might be a good place to get suggestions.
So, does anyone know of any good violin music so I can get some ideas to use when searching the download threads? Thanks in advance for your help ^_^

(By the way, anything will do. Songs from movie, anime, or video game OST, popular songs, obscure songs, groups with good use of the violin,... anything that would give me some new ideas.)

(edited for clarity of intention... hopefully).

I'm looking for ideas of what would be good to search for. If I new what I was looking for, I wouldn't have bothered with a thread at all ^_^
But thanks anyway...

My question is: Are you a violinist looking for interesting techniques that you can use yourself? Or are you just someone looking for good music that features the violin?

Either way, here's some stuff...See if this is what you're looking for.

Thank you so much Arthur, I'll look in to your suggestions.
I'm just looking for some good music. I love the sound of the violin (never learned to play it) but my music selection is a bit limited.

Well, that should get you started. I stopped myself before getting into bluegrass, but, of course, that's an entire genre to look into as well. Depends on how you like your violins deployed.

My taste ranges. Generally I like a more upbeat employment of the violin, but it's hard to tell for me sometimes what song will resonate with me. Thanks again, I have a lot to look into now ^_^

Rehab, Graffiti the World is a good song, as is Jadakiss, Smoking Gun. I recommend listening to both if your into hip hip.

You're welcome. "Swift Horse" is probably the most upbeat, so that might be the place to start.

I'm not sure how these recommendations are related to the thread topic. Neither song has violins in it.

No problem, kon. I'm might look into your selections once I've saturated myself with violin music, haha.
Oh, and thanks once again Arthur.

A few I can think off of the top of my head would be:

Sinful Rose-Disgaea 2 (Although the entire soundtrack has a few violin based songs)-some medi-violin but close to realistic.

Hyrule Symphony in general is pretty good.

Let alone many Soul Calibur songs (more in general in 2, 3, and 4)

Hope that helps also.

-Edit:

Also forgot to mention:

Jubei Chan (1 and 2)- Ninja Girl soundtrack

Dragon Quest Symphony (All although I'd suggest Warriors of Eden personally which is Dragon Quest 7)

Don't know why, but I know I'm forgetting quite a few.

You're welcome.

For some reason though when ever I try to think of game/anime/etc. soundtracks that make use of the violin all I keep thinking of is those that have to do with the piano. Heh, guess my mind is stuck into categorizing classical instruments.

By the way, I forgot to mention:

Super Smash Bros. Melee Orchestrated edition:

Great Bay Shrine
Dream of Fountain
Pokemon Medley
Opening
Brinstar Depths

Have some more use of the violin. I don't remember the rest from that bonus soundtrack, but I guess it's possible.

Edit:

Aha!

Cancao do Povo from Grandia 2 also has some usage of it.
