Is it me or is anime some how becoming very much the same. I mean alot of shows have the usage of Mech's obviously with different names and designs, but the same basis is there. Characters for me have also been looking farmilar in different animes. It could be because of the designers and what not.
But do you think anime should take like movie forms. Say make them about old school wars and things like that, like real movies, or stick to the anime feel of futuristic tales and people/monsters with super-human powers.
I reckon it would be pretty sweet to see an anime about a World War, like I or II. Something along those lines would be pretty sweet. However, lots of blood and killing is the main reason I watch anime, plus the fact you can a hell of a lot more stuff, more outrageous stuff with anime than you can with real life movies, mechas etc.

I dont get the feeling that anime or manga or everything in this direction has become the same... Theres still a huge variety out there... Of course some shows try to be like another series, and some are stupid and boring, but theres still enough to choose from.
Every series I read is different and has its very own feeling, world, whatever. New ideas are basically everywhere... but of course good ideas get copied... I think its the same with ... Hollywood, for example. With the music industry, with every industry, I believe.
Lots of blood and killing are the reason you watch anime? Hmmm... eek. I must say... the reason I read manga are likeable characters and their character development... and thats why I dislike killing and blood... on a regular basis. Some blood, some killing is okay, but I do do do prefer a positive attitude, I dont want to see my beloved characters slaughtered and die... and when I am just talking rubbish it just MIGHT be you understood me I informed you that I have just read some mangas and witnessed what I call REALLY SHOCKING STUFF!!!!! >_< I dont want to cry...
Erh, blah. I think behind a good, unique anime or manga, there has to be one simple great idea. A unique world with an interesting background for example, and a main character that is well developed and likeable and somewhat different than other main charas. This is what can keep a story alive.

I know what you mean DMX...so many mobil suit animes. So many "Card game" animes...ugh, you'd think by now they'd have something different. But, y'know, Japan divereses in so many animes, where America only gets a small portion of it...besides, the Jap animes are usually always better. What I mean by that is origina; voice acting and subbed...and besides, they're usually un-cut, unlike America's imported anime. But anyway, getting back to your topic, yes, I do feel plots are overused WAY too much...especially those "monster evolving, card gamish" animes...Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, etc...

I agree with what Misao said about the copying of ideas in every industry. There ARE a lot of movies with the same basic plot or idea but there are different character, variations, twists. Anime is like that too. There are a lot about the same thing but they have unique characters and ideas too. Then there are of course blatant copies...but also some that are really unlike everything else. I dunno.....like what Misao said also...I read manga and watch anime that has interesting characters..they keep you hooked...because even a few bad storylines won't make me abandon my fav characters. I think as long as each series has something the makes it special, there will never be a big problem with endless clones. The attempted clones will hopefully die away anyway :)

Well that is a big part of the reason I watch it sure. But I do watch it for the stories and the character development etc etc.
Also I guess the movie industry is in the same boat as anime, but I think coz they have many different actors, directors etc it seems alot different to me. I will still watch the new anime of course I wouldn't abandon anime just like that.

i wanna see an anime where a 12 year old male child has an immense power deep inside that could destroy an entire star. But he has absolutely no idea about it. Freiza sends his henchmen to kill him but fails. Miko haves a try but fails so the boy(Kaneda is his japan name. Kane is his dub name) and Miko become friends. Then buu comes in to tell Kaneda about his power and he proves it by starting a fight. Freizas henchmen keep on coming and then once they are all defeated freiza retreats and is never seen for 2 freakin years. Then you the INTRUDER from toonami? well it comes down to swallow kaneda so it can get his Incredible power . WILL HE SURVIVE THE SLAUGHTER?
