While the level of interactivity is still up in the air and having worries about how truly ground breaking they can make it this is without a doubt the first time where I've been made speechless by something to come out of the games industry. I mean, I love the games industry to the point whereby I want it to be my career but this is special. It it all comes together it'll be something that should not only have the ability to bury the Wiis waggle stick but break through to the mainstream and get people to notice the leaps within the gaming industry. You can have your Metal Gears and Halos, this sounds just lovely.
Thoughts?

Didn't they try something like this or something similar on the N64 with "Hey You! Pikachu!"?

Absolutely amazing. And the slightest bit creepy.
It's really these kinds of developments that keep me associated with gaming as a hobby. I like a new instalment of X series, but I moreso look to new types of games and entertainment as tech improves. And to call this a game seems deficient.
To me this was more impressive than anything else in their conference by far. Seems like it could be revolutionary if they handle it right.
Asamiya, that strikes me as comparing a PC to a calculator. At least that's what I'm lead to believe. It's similar, but from how they presented it, seems much more complex than a mic game like Hey you, Pikachu! (N64) or Seaman (DC) given the camera. I mean if Lionhead isn't stretching (and we know how Peter can do that) it can actually attempt to read the emotion in your voice and face. I really haven't heard of that in gaming.

Would be great if it's all that its cracked up to be. At first, I was skeptical, because she said "I'm nervous" and his reply/worried face wasn't really that interactive. It wasn't like he recognized her face, just the word.
Later on, I was a bit more impressed. When she drew the picture and just flashed it at the camera quickly, and "it" went through to the other side and he recognized the color and everything, that was pretty neat.
Either way, definitely something to keep an eye out for. A good stepping stone, if it is all that it's cracked up to be. Will be interesting to see how they can incorporate similar technology into games that aren't just "talk to this kid". Imagine a good puzzle game with this kind of interactivity.

more reently, they tried this with N.U.D.E.
for the xbox, but only in japan.
i immediately disliked milo becuae he is a boy.
N.U.D.E. was a girl.
btw, a comment there won the topic:
"Gamers will soon be able to virtually interact with young boys".

This Natal thing can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned. The concept may be great, but being the paranoid type, I'm not going to allow any sort of internet-capable device to record my voice or facial features. Microsoft may come up with some neat stuff, but they don't have a great record when it comes to protecting privacy, and this thing is the biggest threat to privacy I've ever seen.

Isn't that jumping the gun slightly, Prak?
It's not like it's recording a copy of what's going on in front of the camera somewhere. I don't see where you're connecting this to being a threat to privacy. Again, I can only hope it turns out like it appears to be promising but we'll see.

It was enjoying to watch but I don't quite understand how it can be enjoying to talk to a Television screen and engage in conversation with a virtual personality. I also don't understand why technology keeps being created that pretty much wants people to not have to interact with living and breathing people.
Also, what fun is involved, It's interesting to watch but it may have been scripted.
Denny, it's already been shown to be fully capable of recording data on the 360's hard drive. I know I'm just being paranoid, but Microsoft has a bad track record in the area of data harvesting.

It's creepy, because this videogame will be a pedo's dream come true.

That was fairly horrifying, and boring. In all reality unless that kids picks up a gun and says "want to help me shoot shit?" I'm not interested. I don't play with little boys in real life, and I won't be doing it at home. I hate children, and AI is bull crap, no matter what even is triggered it was programmed. When that fucker gets a sporadic and illogical thought I'll call it AI, and I'll head for the hills robo-apocalypse is upon us. Kidding, but still it (Milo) is pretty eerie.

Not impressed.
I know it doesn't feature guys with over sized muscles, massive fuck off guns or it's not littered with every stereotype possible but I think it looks fantastic.
So at e3 what did impress you and why? Not being a cunt just wondering what floats your boat, gangsta boi.
Also, anyone remember Seaman on the Dreamcast? As soon as I saw it flashes of that came back to me. Great game for what it was though.

Wow, Denny, a little defensive over Milo there? What was shown wasn't very impressive. Oh damn, a motion sensor camera that responds to voice and patterns. How. Original. But not really. Looks more like a parent sim than anything and anyone who gets excited over that is loopy. or a pedo
What impressed me? Well not much, to be honest. Modern Warfare 2 was something I could look forward to, seeing as they raised the bar so much (which I didn't think was possible.) Uncharted 2 looked stunning! The entire graphical engine was absolutely impressive, with how much was going on and being affected by everything. Granted, I probably wouldn't pick it up just for that. If anything, I'd rent it and be "OOH SHIT IT'S PRETTY" for the entire duration. Assassin's Creed 2 due to the immense amount of content and features being added, in order to improve from the first.
So yeah, out of everything shown, those three titles would fall under the "I'm impressed" category.

I'm not defensive, just wondering. Well, to be honest I'm actualy working on Milo myself deep within the Lionhead Studios building but keep it under your hat. I myself can't wait for Modern Warfare as well to be hones.t I'm not much into first person shooters but the first one really blew me away. I recently started it on it's highest setting and it continues to impress.
But don't get me wrong, without a real time working demo of Milo it's hard to say if it'll be as good as I think it looks. Additionally, Peter Molyneux tends to over hype stuff but I'm being optimistic. It's just that because I want to eventually get into the industry I really try to welcome new ideas. Granted it's not exactly new (Seaman, N.U.D.E) but it seems like a giant leap in progression.
Modern Warfare 2 and the like is a given that it'll be good unless Infinity Ward make a balls of it but at least Milo is throwing us a curve ball in what we expect from games. I think in the age of gaming we're in sequels are a dime a dozen that slightly rework the original games mechanics and announcements like this are rare.
Just saying and don't mean to sound like a defensive asshole.
also more stuff about it

I'm agreeing with others here: not a big fan of it being a dude. Much less a kid. Sorry, don't like kids in the real world and I'm sure I won't like them in the gaming world either.
The concept is pretty cool and I like the Natal idea, but not so sure if "Milo" will be something I'll be getting.
But MTGS:R on the 360 on the other hand....
