Well I'm on the site now listening to the samples provided and I must admit I like it ... I'm tempted to buy it especially considering it is not expensive.

However money is EXTREMELY tight for me at the moment. So maybe some kind soul will buy it and post it for both of us but once my situation changes (hopefully sooner than later) I might just have to pick it up and if I get it I will post it.

Assuming someone else doesn't get it and post it first LOL

glad someone found the time to listen to the promo tracks, meanwhile I found a site where you can download some other tracks :

the more I listen to this the more I want the Full ost.
cheers Fulcilives, hope your "situation" get better and hopefully someday this gem will come up on this board..

the package seems also pretty cool
http://www.flickr.com/photos/shimoroka/3407963947/in/photostream/
as said I would buy it too and possibly bring it up here but I cant, I found one shop that would import it but it would cost me like 3 x the actual price and take forever (3-4 weeks-more) to ship..
it s a shame it is not that popular being a mod ost, but really it is better than a lot of AAA ost title out there..

That one website that you linked to has 4 complete songs that you can download and they are 320kbps CBR MP3 files (actually three are that way whereas one is VBR ... go figure). In any event they all sound good!

To make life easier I put them all in one RAR file:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/z9azp2bxb22/NEOTOKYO_Sampler.rar

Maybe we can get some people interested if they take a listen :)

So please anyone reading this feel free to download my RAR file and see what you think!

Then if you like it ... buy it ... then upload here in FLAC and MP3 :)

Hey I can dream can't I?

Hey, thanx a bunch Maeroris !
I thought you made my day but ....

why such crap quality ?
I mean I didnt expect FLAC compression zero but c'mon ! 128 kbps AND 22 KHZ ?!?

dont know if it was intentional or not but everything below 160-224 kbps - 44 khz is a waste, pretty much useless.

well at least now I can better make out if this is actually worth the purchase
so thanx anyway, but next time at least 44 khz please -:)

Hey Maeroris ... if you use Windows then try a program called Winamp and I suggest this program because it is freeware and fairly simple to use (knock on wood).

http://www.winamp.com/

Just pick FLAC and BEST COMPRESSION and away you go.

yeah, that would be really nice ! but he will end up with quite large files seeing there are 27 tracks on 2 CDs.
should Flac be too overkill then 320 kbps/44khz CD transparent audio would do it too :)

Well I suggested WINAMP because it is very easy-to-use BUT only the PRO (pay) version will allow MP3 ... but the regular FREE version will allow FLAC so ...

Just trying to make it easy :)

Uploading to sendspace right now. It's going to be a little bigger than before at 168MB for reposting the first CD. I think I got it right this time...The files say 320kps at 44.1KHz so hopefully they came out right this time. *cross fingers*

Hmmm ... it seems to be playing fine for me but I am getting some "oddness" with it. For example the tags were a bit haphazard so I used MP3TAG to clean them up. For some reason it was behaving very oddly ... very SLOW ... and it never does that. Also some of the tracks are reporting a track length in my media player and some are not. I wonder if there is some sort of corruption going on here either with the ripping or MP3 encoding or during the upload etc.

I'm on track 3 and both 1 and 3 show track times yet track 2 does not but it sounded fine.

So odd *shrugs*

yeah, unfortunately, I am also experiencing odd behaviour with the files, I was so happy about the 320 kbps but there is still something wrong with the compression I think, try to hear the first track "Annul" and compare it to the free mp3 I postet above (the ones you putted together.)... is just not right ....
other tracks seems ok though , so odd indeed...

well still thanks for upping it Maeroris but I think you have to double check your ripping again ...

FulciLives
06-28-2009, 08:53 PM
EAC aka Exact Audio Copy is really the standard for ripping as it makes sure to double check for any errors etc. but it can be tricky to set up properly. However there are guides for it.

WINAMP is probably the easiest thing to use but it doesn't have any error checking built-in (that I know of) but since this is a brand new CD and hopefully therefore error free I would say that WINAMP is probably fine if you don't want to get into the headache of setting up EAC properly. It is true that if you use WINAMP you will have to rip to FLAC but if you don't want to upload FLAC you can always then convert the FLAC to MP3 using LameXP (another free easy program that does conversion BUT no ripping) or you can do FLAC to MP3 with foobar2000 (yet another free and easy program).

Just some thoughts here :)

Here is a nice guide on setting up EAC:

http://www.teqnilogik.com/tutorials/eac.shtml

This guide is a bit old but seems perfectly fine. My only change would be to set up Lame MP3 with the following command: "-b 320 %s %d"
That will give you 320kbps CBR MP3 if using the newest version of Lame which is 3.98.2

Lame MP3 3.98.2 ---> http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php#lame-current

EAC ---> http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

Also when you run the EAC wizard you need to use a CD that is in the AccurateRip database. Anything ultra popular will do. Michael Jackson. The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Britney Spears. You get the idea.

Maeroris
06-28-2009, 08:55 PM
Hmmm....I don't know what the problem is. They all look fine on my computer and I don't see the problems with the times or the tags. I scanned them just in case and nothing came up either. *perplexed*

Sorry but I just downloaded Disc 2 and it is also screwed up.

I even tried to re-download Disc 1 just to make sure it wasn't a corrupted download somehow and no it's still screwed up.

I'm not sure what program(s) you are using but something is not right with these files.

It also doesn't make sense in that the tagging is very haphazard. Some files are tagged totally different from others. Makes no sense. I mean if they are all ripped from the same disc using the same ripper then I see no reason why the tagging would be SO different among files. Points to the ripper program you are using as being screwy if you ask me. Again though you haven't told us what you used or your process so ...

I implore you to try either WINAMP or EAC or something other than what you used before.

Maeroris
06-28-2009, 09:54 PM
Hmmm....I'm sorry the files were less than successful. The fact of the matter is, I ripped these files not from the CDs themselves, but from a stream that a person put up on Youtube. The encoding of the files were already 320kps at 44.1khz to begin with, and I merely converted them into manageable mp3 files.

I suppose the reason why the tags don't look screwed up when I view them is because I had to put them in and so load fine on my computer. Ripping from the net would probably explain why some have times and others don't. Again, something I don't see when I view them on my computer.

After reading your post, it was quite clear that the EAC stuff wouldn't work for me to clean up the files. It was never my intention to be misleading.

Though, for your interest, if someone uses a better ripping software than me, this is the channel from which my files were derived.
http://www.youtube.com/user/flatchersteam

Again, sorry for any misunderstandings.

oh, this explains pretty much everything, that youtube channel is usefull to get a better idea of the full ost though, need some more listen to decide whether to buy it or not even though if I do it will take forever to ship and maybe in the meantime someone else will up a proper rip ..

I have to post this... This is just too good. Here's the confirmation of my order from the OST's distributor:

Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure
it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money
can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Sunday, July 5th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh...
