Ladies and gentlemen, E3 2009 is upon us, and as game developers gear up to show the entertainment industry the future of video gaming, rumours of a new Metal Gear Solid title hitting Sony's PS3 console is upon us.
With the launch of the following website (Link HERE (
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/index.html)) by Konami's ever-so-famous Kojima Productions, a countdown is shown, where, coincidence or not, matching with Sony's official E2009 Press Conference beginning June 2nd.
Flashing letters and numbers appear haphazardly, teasing us with riddles and elusive mystery.
And even more so, certain "flashes" appear indicating a true PS3 next-gen MGS title.
Major Teaser Spoilers :
Could it be true? Could a new sequel to the Metal Gear Solid franchise be hitting the PS3 platform? And heck, isn't that Naked Snake, or rather, Big Boss?
In less than a week, we will all find out what could possibly be the biggest Sony announcement yet.
Another shocking teaser spoiler :
Oh my goodness. Is that Raiden? Or maybe Grey Fox (brown eyes, bandana, yellow armour tint, cyborg form)? If you still don't have a PS3 and are a MGS fan, go pick one up NOW, at least for MGS4.
So here is the leaked music BGM which was obtained from the website, before it disappeared shortly after. Epic music is truly epic.

E3 can't get any better than this.
Discuss your theories Here! And enjoy the wonderful track!
Here's a youtube version (mine is a website RIP, so higher quality) :

Edited : Major Update!
IT seems to be that the new Kojima game is entitled Metal Gear Solid - Rising, and features Raiden as the protagonist of the story.
In a fated twist of events, akin to the FFXIII hiatus, it seems to be heading to the 360 platform as well! Exclusivity to Microsoft's console is unlikely, as at E3's Microsoft Press Conference, they fail to mention any words of exclusivity.
For now, it appears to be a multiplatform title, and the countdown on the Kojima website is still tied to Sony's press conference.

I'd be happier if they were teasing a next-gen Zone of the Enders. :P

So friggin true. It's about time for Z.O.E to make a huge comeback. Maybe make Vic Viper Playable?
But hopefully Hideo Kojima can make this one different from the last MGS's. 4 didn't have that feel to me. It was still kick ass though.

Amen brother, Amen...
Everyone knows ZOE2 is the best mech game ever and one of ps2 best titles, I cant imagine with the power of the ps3 the amazing shit they could come up with.
Too bad ZOE just is not a banker selling game, lets face it mecha stuff does well in japan only, western people dont like it the only time mecha was mainstream ala Naruto was when Gundam Wing came out what 8-9 years ago now, but they messed it up by not following it up with something good and instead releasing the OG Gundam which is not as flashly or updated for new fans.
(Im huge Gundam Mecha freak and we all know UC rules)
Im disapointed that kojima's new game is another MGS, after he said he wouldnt make anymore, it seems the big wigs at konami wont let the series die because its their most profitable title.
Kojima is a victim of his own success, their probably going to milk the franchise again and again.
I just hope this new game is not some DMC spin-off with raiden.
Theirs a rumour that theirs actually two new games MGS5 for ps3 and some kind of psp game, wanna bet thats for the new psp go...hmmm yeah.
Sony also said they have an anoucnement so big nobody knows how they kept it a secret, rumours say it maybe a FF 7 remake, who knows.
Hell maybe kojima is working on ZOE3 as well as MGS :P

Actually, the other title Kojima seems to be working on is also a Sony exclusive, and is represented in the following website :
Link here :
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/mask/
It looks like a Sci-Fi Fantasy, possibly horror game.
Interesting indeed, but we can't really rely on the teaser until Sony's actual press conference.

Anyhow I will be completely honest I loved MGS4 and even though it ended I really didnt want it to but i agree that I dont want some type of DMC with Raiden either
but on another note a FF7 remake would be amazing *_* lol dont get my hopes up >_<

HEATermania, and thank you. I'm glad you like it. I didn't actually put METAL GEAR 5 on it in case that's not what the game is/not what the game is called. I DID put Gregson-Williams as the artists for filing's sake.

Gregson-Williams is fine,I guess, but I'm much more psyched about the possibility that Norihiko Hibino will return.

Nice track) reminds me MGS2, dunno why... Anyway I hope this (Metal Gear? Solid?) game won't be a PS3 exclusive since me and most of my friends have only xbox. =) And who cares who will compose music in the new MGS if music is great? ;) MGS4 had Harry Gregson-Williams and Norihiko Hibino and what? Music wasn't as great as it was in MGS 1, 2 (especially) and 3. MGS 2: Sons of Liberty soundtracks still remain my favourite.
Here's my take on the pictures shown in MGS5. They are indeed Big Boss and Grey Fox. Why do I think this? Well, those two were featured in the game Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, where they meet for the first time.
I'm assuming that is really Big Boss...the fact he's using old fashioned Radio tech when he could be using Nano's or a Codec would seem unlikely in a game set after MGS4. That sets us before MGS1.
I know what some of you may think though. "What about Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2, Grey Fox wasn't really a Cyborg Ninja in that." No he wasn't...but...Kojima has been quoted at some point as saying that he doesn't concider events in MG1 and MG2 to be 100% cannon to his saga. There are bits that are cannon however. I think Kojima is using MGS5 as a way of either getting around MG1 and MG2....or...setting us up for a remake of MG1 and MG2. That's my opinion. I am probably wrong. But that's my suspicion.

"Metal Gear?.."(c) Remake? hmm... that's an interesting theory)) 'cause not everyone even know what MG and MG2 are. +1
Heh, thank you, it's an intelligent theory...it's possible...and likely...and the pictures seem to point ot that for me. Who know's. This isn't the remake...but it's likely that MGS6 could be the remake. If my theory is correct.
It's also a great way to clear up any inconsistancies between MGS3, MGS Portal Ops, MG, MG2 and MGS1
Solid-Ares
05-31-2009, 10:36 PM
lol yeah and the name for this game will be "Metal Gear Solid: (not)Portable OPS 2". (OPS in this meaning - "power" (translation from latin)). =))))
Hah! Good one. But no, seriously..it does seem like that to me. Others are theorising that it's Johnny (Akiba) and Sunny, but I somehow doubt that. For one the ninja character does look more masculin, and Johnny...well...I can't really see him being a clone of Big Boss...
Solid-Ares
05-31-2009, 10:47 PM
Johnny Sasaki? Only if he is a clone of Big Boss' stomach and ass lol I doubt that... But maybe you're right - look how he changed in MGS4. And who's Sunny? Olga's son? I don't remember... Shame on me))))
Lol, Olga's Daughter. That's why I dispell the theory. The ninja in that photo looks like a male person to me.
Solid-Ares
05-31-2009, 10:59 PM
Whoops)))) But anyways maybe IT will be her son. I mean Hideo Kojima can suddenly announce that
he doesn't concider events in MGS1 and MGS2 to be 100% cannon to his saga (I perephrased you a bit).
Hehe, maybe that's so, but unlikely...Hideo Kojima had very much to do with MGS1 and MGS2...however...he had nothing to do with MG1 and MG2..thats' why he doesn't consider them canon :P
Solid-Ares
05-31-2009, 11:08 PM
well anyway... I think it will be both on 360 and ps3.
Lol, how did you guess what I was gonna say? In my opinion, it should be each console has equal oppotunity, and thus, every game. Unless the technology makes it impossible. Until then, and while you 360 people have decent DLC for games like Fallout, GTAIV and more...I say it should stay with Playstaiton. It's never set foot on another console since MGS1, unless you count Nintendos' MGS:TTS and Ghost Babel.
Solid-Ares
06-01-2009, 01:15 AM
nope)) you're not right: MGS was also on PC; MGS2 was re-released on Xbox and PC. Therefore since MGS3. =) Now as for the technology: 360 and PS3 ~technologically equal. But the main distinction between box and ps3 is that box uses DVD, capacity of which is not as big as Sony's BluRay. So yeah, "Unless the technology makes it impossible". But there is an Economical Crisis nowadays => multiplatform releases are better for publishers. So that's why I read your mind)) and that's why I think there is a probability of this game being multiplatform. I hope you got the idea. ;)
Whatever, besides, you've won anyway. It was revealed today that it's not Metal Gear Solid 5, but "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" a360 exclusive...no doubt I nearly murderd someone when I heard the news.
oh, and btw, Blu Ray does have a higher capacity than DVD's
A dual layer DVD is about 15GB, dual layer HD DVD (which is now obsolete) is 30 GB, a dual layer Blu Ray Disk is 50GB

It wasn't just MGS: Rising. It was the entire MGS series. Which leads me to believe they're working on porting MGS4 to the 360.
Sony fanboys are shitting bricks right about now. They lost Final Fantasy, now MGS? Doesn't really pay to be exclusive nowadays, does it?
Personally I'm inclined to say something rude to t0m, but I shall restrain. I don't care if it goes to 360, as long as PS3 also gets it. And by he looks of things it looks like it will be coming to PS3, according to the exhibit information pamphlet it says "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - PSP" and "Metal Gear Solid: Rising - PC PS3 X360."
right now..I don't know what to believe O.o
PS: Thank you for your colourful metaphor t0m

Why? Are you a Sony fanboy? I'm simply stating that it doesn't pay for one system to hold exclusive rights for a game over another. Now, it's a completely different thing for Sony or Microsoft themselves putting their game on their console.
I kind of think the whole economy had something to do with this somehow too. Kojima-san was right. They had to make a difficult decision to stay loyal, or go multi-system. The end result? Everyone wins.

"Kojima told the audience he was indeed bringing the Metal Gear Solid series to the Xbox 360, but in an all-new game." And " Kojima said, "but I can promise you that it will be a completely new experience." (quoted from
http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6210623/metal-gear-solid-rising-on-360 )So no MGS4.

Really? And I thought FF Versus XIII is the PS3 exclusive still. lol
...or go multi-system. The end result? Everyone wins.
Yes, BUT if they port the game off the x360 or whatever to another game systems proper, not like MGS2: Substance was ported.

If Metal Gear Solid - Rising was indeed an 360 exclusive, don't you think Microsoft's Dom would have emphasized on it during his key speech at Microsoft's E3 2009 Press Conference?
For now, it is assumed that MGS - Rising is a multiplatform title. Websites like Kotaku and IGN indicate this.

Ok, I have found the identity of the mask teaser website by Kojima Productions :
It is a Castlevania 3D title, a remake of the original franchise, heading straight to the PS3 and 360 consoles. Its title : "Castlevania - Lords of Shadow".
The trailer shows, at the very end, the very same mask we see on the teaser website, along with the Kojima Productions logo indicating a partnership between Tecmo and Kojima Productions.

For those who want a better picture to display for their mp3 player I made this one for my ipod. I didnt like coupling it with my mgs4 cover so I made one looking like the game's.
It looks a little crude at that size but when you drop it down to 300x300 or 200* like I do it is seemless.
Hope you enjoy it.
