Hey I'm just saying that I've noticed that no bodies really been paying much attention to Snake since Metal Gear Solid 2 came out. Hopefully the remake will greatly make up for it.
Also, what do you think Konami should do to improve the next Metal Gear or the Remake of Metal Gear Solid 2?

There making a remake?
Anyway....I think Konami have alot of making up to do with MGS3, I thought MGS2 was very poor and not what i expected.
To make MGS2 better they could have Snake back had the main Character :), and have atleast ONE female character to survive ;)

I mean the only female character to survive in MGS2 was Rose.
I also think the storyline was quite poor, they could make a better storyline :) What do you think?

Sho nuff, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is gonna be released on the Xbox later this year, and the PS2 early 2003. The story will remain the same, but there will be lots of little things added to it. One of those things is the ability to play as Snake, Raiden, Plisskin, or the Ninja throughout the entire game, weiliding whatever weapon you want. There will also be a combined 300 VR and alternate missions to go on. Oh yeah, and a stand alone skateboarding minigame has been added as well. There will be lots of other little surprises too, such as the ability to play in the tux and skin suit from MGS1.
With all the stuff added, there's really only one thing else I could ask for, but I know it would never happen. I wanna play as the REAL ninja, AKA Grey Fox!

i think MGS2 was a great game i thought it was good that you got to play as a diffrent player (Raiden) and the story line was good i think they could have made it a little bit longer than it was other than that it was fine.

Aww... man. I wanted to tell her about Substance. Oh well
By the way, there were only three female characters in the game. 1 out of 3 is a really good ratio. Hell, Snake, Raiden and Otacon. were the only male characters to survive and there were plenty to start with. Oh yeah, there was Ocelot/Liquid. But I donno what happened to him.

I think :eye:
i thought MGS2 was damn good. i think playing as Snake for all of it would have been better, because he just looks better, acts better, and is a REAL veteran.
i dunno if anyone else got the free documentary DVD with the game? basically, Hideo Kojima explains why he had Raiden...Raiden is innocent, his white hair symbolises this, and this innocence shows how futile war can be. and loads of other stuff, but i forget.
as for the plot, i thought it was great...ludicrously complex and twisting...and for the first or second time thru pretty damn confusing...but was great nonetheless.

Actually there were five if you count Mei Ling..... who doesn't show up but her voice is there. o_O
Anyways, MGS2 was a great game... the ending might be a bit off of what we usually see. (Snake telling us to live? THJATS NOT HIM!) Still a great game nonetheless.
But even with MGS and MGS2, it's challenge can't really compare to the games the started it all. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Only found on the MSX Computer which never came out...
And when I say Only... I mean ONLY. The NES version of Metal Gear was alright but not as great as the MSX Version.
If you get the chance to play these for the MSX, play em. They are the real test of survival.

Seriously, I don't see your gripes with MGS2.
I think that it was great that they changed the main playable character to Raiden, it was a good shakeup to surprise gamers. And personally, Raiden fit the role, because if Snake were the main character, I think it would be hard to pull off his whole "I don't know what I'm doing, even though I've done this before, I'm still naive" thing. Raiden was perfect, BECAUSE he was naive.
The cutscenes were AWESOME. *Spoilers*

The scene ending the tanker in which Ocelot takes the Ray was STELLAR. Just blew me away!
And the end scenes were confusing, but great cinema! It was SOOOOO badass when Snake and Raiden got surrounded by all those ninjas, and they flipped out on them like hell. And, the best line in the game, next to the purple-flap jaw in space is when Snake and Fortune face off, and he says, while aiming his gun, "You want eternal rest? I've got it right here!" Regardless of Raiden saving the day, Snake is still badass numero uno. I play the game JUST to see Solidus flip out on all the Rays, even though it's far-fetched. Although the Olga death scene didn't match Grey Fox's in MGS, and the Fortune scene was odd, watching Solidus go crazy even more was just... OOOH!! It kicked ass!

Snake was still there, the gameplay was better than the first, and the story was AMAZING. I was hoping for a Metal Gear, and that's what I got. :)
And after the ending, SEQUEL! NOW! :) I guess I don't want Metal Gear to end. ;)

I totally agree, if there is any one AS cool IF NOT cooler than snake then it would be Grey Fox.
But I REALLY honestly can't wait for MGS2: Substance, MGS had a amazing storyline, and with MGS with great graphics then it will be one of the BEST GAMES EVER!!!
I'm extremly happy right now!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Substance is also coming out for PC (Windows).
I personally just didn't like Metal Gear Solid 2. It wasn't as fun as the first, or as challenging as the Game Boy Color version (Metal Gear Ghost Babel, labeled as Solid in US). The M92Fs tranquilizer gun really killed it (just give us a normal Berretta, like the one in Metal Gear), it being the game. Some of the areas seem to be designed around it (cof cof Strut D cof cof). Annoying and slow without the tranquilizer gun (which I don't want to pick up if I ever finish playing through the game a 6th time, prob just wait for Substance), but lame with it. The Game Boy version was much harder and longer than MGS 1 or 2. Now where's my Game Boy?!
i heard Metal Gear Ghost Babel is similar to the earlier MSX and NES versions of MG, which would make it harder than the Sony versions.
i tried the MSX version of MG and MG2, both were very challenging. (but i cudnt play them for long...the MSX emulator i used was very tempremental, and i cudnt get the sound to work)

Has anyone played the first two in the series?
Because I want to play them and have that all important fight with Grey Fox in the middle of the mine-field, and see what Big Boss is like.

That's my point. It IS like them
As for the first 2, I never got around to beating them on an emulator (MSX). Need to download them again.

I will tell you this (I've beaten MG and MG2), the minefield.... isn't a minefield.
First Big Boss from MG doesn't look very different from the NES version... just a Pixelated POS.
The second Big Boss was alright, better detail and all. We even get to see him burn to death.
Now the minefield battle between Snake and Gray Fox is...
The two of you fight in the smallest room in the game with mines around the border, you fist fight each other and if you landed on a mine, it was only because you slipped with the control pad or whatever you use to play the game. The mines are not to your advantage.
Yeah... I thought it would be big too. o_O

I remember the first Metal Gear game, way back on the NES. That was a cool game. True, the graphics are kinda 8 Bit (gee, point out the obvious, why don't I?) But Snake's character was one of a rookie who was not meant to find out all of the information that he did. I even recall rescuing Gray Fox from captivity in one of the many bases. The final battle against the man who was meant to be your boss was also a cool twist in the tale.
MGS was an excellent advance on the series, with Snake having evolved. I'll reserve my opinion of MGS2 until I've played it, and I'll keep an open mind about it.
