Hi, I was currently looking for the ost for this when I stumbled upon it on a site. I have uploaded it to file factory. I am unsure if any of these tracks are from a CD that was given as a bonus for people who preordered the game or are direct rips from the DS game. Anyways I named the tracks "BGM 01...BGM 02" since I can't read Japanese and give them proper English names.

Anyways Enjoy

I translate a lot of stuff through both Babelfish (Alta Vista) and Anime Lab Online Japanese Translator. AL is better because it translates to romanji and (crude) english. It at least makes for good reference material (because it can be quite a pain translating SOOOOO many Exit Trance albums, lol). Hope it helps a bit.

Ok, what the hell...I started listening to the tracks, and they sounded off, so as I kept going, I noticed more and more tracks sounded weird.

It's as if the tracks are missing sound channels or something, it's really weird. The sound quality is awesome, but try listening to Reiji and Xiaomu's theme without cringing at how weird it sounds. You can't hear the drums at all, it's ridiculous! On the left side, it sounds like a cement mixer's turned on in the background!

Didn't anyone notice this? It's really bad...was ready to throw this on my iPod when I noticed the seemingly missing sound channels. I've been looking everywhere for it with no luck 'til now...please, someone fix this! I can't be the only one experiencing this problem, right?

Oh, btw, I used the Megaupload link, and I tried playing the tracks with Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player, and Winamp...all the same.

Man, oh man. I still haven't finished this game either but I can't get enough of the music!! It's been a while. The battle themes get me pumped especiallyl. :p

I was a bit sad when I found out the cd that came with the game only had like 10 tracks. It has orchestral army, one of my favs but still, yeah.

ty sir for taking the upload. *bows*

Joe, I also noticed that the tracks are missing some channels. I am trying to see if I can do the conversions myself; I have the midi parts of the files, but it seems that I am unable finalize part of the audio (drum channels are missing from the mp3, but is still inside the merged midi/dls file). Once I am able to tweak it to have in there, I'll convert the rest.

Edit: Got it. Here is the sample of Trembling City Of Aris (Reiji's/Xiaomu's Theme).

http://www.sendspace.com/file/vnzy73

As for the bonus cd that came with the US ver. of the game, it is somewhat a more arranged version of the songs, though it misses Reiji/Xiaomu and KOS-MOS's theme, which I would have loved to hear. I have it, will upload it soon.

Joe Kickass
06-08-2009, 07:16 PM
Thank you man, I'm so glad that someone out there finally noticed the very clearly missing sound channels. Kept seeing people congratulating the uploader, for a sec there I thought it might've just been my computer.

I just want you to know that I'm extremely grateful to you for attempting to fix the audio. Like I said before, I looked everywhere for this OST with no luck at all, so many thanks for your work on this. If I knew how to do it myself, I would've gotten on it by now!

chocobo150
06-08-2009, 07:48 PM
Yeah, this is pretty hard for a few reasons:

- the datafile inside both the US and JP version of the game are customized, so the standard .sdat (whatever it is called) cannot be extracted from it, making it difficult to get the music tracks.

- In my attempt of getting the files, the only way I was able to extract it was using 5 different programs to just get each pair of file out (.mid and .dls).

- Extracting one file from one program has each filename in sequential form (yadayada_001, yadayada_002, etc) while other program to extract the second part of the pair is what I believe is in hex (0001, 001A, etc). This is the part that gets tough, since I have to do trial and error to all 38 files to see which instrumental line matches with the drumlines (awkward listening to Code DTD with Orchestral Army drumline).

In the previous page, I have the sample of Reiji's/Xiaomu's theme from what I have complied. 1 down, 37 tracks to go.

Edit: In the meantime, the bonus cd that came with the U.S. version.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/u4s596

Second Edit: ok, from what I am compiling over at my side seems to not have the same quality as one would hear from a complete rip. It seems to have its sound convert to mono and totally butcher its quality. I am sort of impatient after finally to at least merge the files to one that has all the channels. It is sort of frustrating to have to reconvert every time it doesnt work right (takes about 5 min per tweak and saving the song to see if I have at least made something that would work).

Joe Kickass
06-09-2009, 03:02 AM
Wow...man, that sounds tough, damn. Wish there was something I could do to help.

Hey, I know this is probably pointless, but I thought, in case you haven't played Namco x Capcom, you might enjoy hearing the original version of Reiji and Xiaomu's theme "Trembing City of Aris", straight from the Namco x Capcom OST:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/25dbbq

Good luck on the compiling. *salute* Godspeed!

Oh, and thanks for the bonus OST upload! I have the disc from my copy of the game, but you saved me the trouble of ripping. Thanks!

xshinox

it shouldnt be the hardest to rip. there is a bgm test mode in the options after beating the game IIRC. just use the 3.5mm male to male connector and connect from ds to your pc speaker and use audacity to record.

Yes, it has a very unique coding that prevents it from being ripped properly. When ripped from the usual program, it basically takes out about 3-4 channels from the track, making it sound weird like the supposed soundtrack posted here. I tried attempting to get it to work, but ended up giving up as I was still only able to get back 1 channel. As with encephalon91, I would too like a properly ripped version, so using audacity to rip the songs through direct feed is not a likely way to get a proper one.

The Japanese were smart protecting the rip management of this game, heh. Even though the original poster ripped the game I'm happy with it but there are some flaws and sounds missing within the sound tracks. If someone can manage to clearly rip the sound tracks, hands down to them.

I really hope to look foward to it soon.

It's more trouble than it's worth. Most of the tracks in this game are rehashed from previous Robot Taisens and the few original tracks were included in the bonus disk. For example; the track "Etrangr" comes from the fourth disc of the Super Robot Taisen OG ~Original Generations~ Original Soundtrack as "Beckoned Etrangr". I think I got it from Goronmoron's thread. "True Order"; the theme that plays when fighting as KOS-MOS is a fortunate resample of "Fighting KOS-MOS" from Xenogears 1st OST; Der Wille Zur Macht. "Code DTD" the theme that plays when fighting as Aschen is "Ashes to Ashes" from... well, a lot of SRT soundtracks. It's one of their recurring themes. Likewise, "Arisu in Flukeland" is, as Joe Kickass already stated, from the Namco x Capcom OST. See where am getting at?

Because there are better versions already available, I wouldn't expect any rip coming anytime soon. Not ever actually. Unless the guys at Bamco get lazy and compile the next game just as this one and they don't release any soundtrack and there is an Awesome track. Not normal awesome. I'm talking the Mecca of Awesome. Then there may be a slight hope in getting this rip. But since that is not going to happen; your best bet would be to listen through the 20 or something Super Robot Taisen OG OST (and the Xenosaga series and the Namco x Capcom) and identify the tracks used in this game. Good luck.

Yeah, but #1: I've never played any of the games you mentioned.
#2: It therefore stands to reason that I wouldn't download several different totally alien soundtracks for the sake of a few elusive songs. It makes more sense in my case to download all the songs collectively.
And #3: I've only played Endless Frontier, and I liked the music from that specific game. I haven't heard the other renditions from other games and I don't care to.
So, That was just to illuminate you to a specific case where your rather pessimistic advice falls down.
I've yet to try out MiKowaii's rip, but if it's good then thanks man. Much appreciated.
