Aoi Teshima is a fantastic young singer who debuted on Gedo Senki Tales from Earthsea and has since released a number of short albums and a couple of singles. Most of the albums are fairly short thus their small size. I have them at the highest quality I could find and most of them are 320kbps.

1st Album - Gedo Senki Poetry Book

This is completely solo singing with very little to no background instruments, just her beautiful voice.
Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157691/Gedo_Senki.rar)

2nd Album - Haru no Kashu

This second album is more of the amazing vocals with some piano for background.
Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157606/Haru_NK.rar)

FLAC - http://www.mediafire.com/?nyonhtygcz0 174MB

3rd Album - The Rose ~I Love Cinema~

This is a bunch of old movie themes she covers. They are all extremely beautiful and fun to listen to.
Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157453/The+Rose.rar)

4th Album - Niji No Kashuu

Her Latest album that came out this year, background includes guitar, piano, and a little drum.
Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157583/Niji+nk.rar)

5th Album - La Vie En Rose ~I Love Cinemas~

Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157482/En+Rose.rar)

2nd Single - Kiseki no Hoshi
This is an orhestral song with her vocals released as a single track single. I put it on zshare so you can just listen to it and download it separate so it makes a good sample track.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QIXDQ7H8
FLAC http://www.mediafire.com/?njiouetjutd - 28mb

I hope everyone enjoys her music and anyone who has her two recently released itunes singles I would greatly appreciate it if they could share. (It is not very easy to access the Japanese Itunes store)

Aoi Teshima - From Up on Poppy Hill (Song Collection)
MP3 320kbps - 106MB - 13 tracks - YCCW-10156
female vocals|relaxing|ballad|piano

Download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22157554/Poppy+Hill.rar)

I left the file names with the kanji song titles but re-tagged it so that the song titles are in english translations from This site. (http://www.nausicaa.net/wiki/From_Kokuriko_Hill_(Song_Collection)) Thanks to the original uploader.

Teshima is one of my favourite Japanese singers - well, one of my favourite singers full stop... Pitch perfect, mesmerising voice - expansive but at the same time completely intimate... one of the few people who can make it sound as though they are singing only to you and nobody else on the planet.

Thank you very much. :)

Thanking you kindly sir!

I stand by my original assertion that she has one of the most gorgeous voices I've ever heard... But she really, really should NOT sing in English (or any language other than Japanese, for that matter...)

Some of the tracks here have the most horrendous pronunciation - Edelweiss is rendered as "Air-Del-Wise" - which, as any vaguely internationally-inclined individual will know, comes about by blind use of phonetic pronunciation - and that it's also about as far as you can mutilate the original German word without making it completely unintelligible...

Not to mention, "Ebbery mornin you greet me, small and white, clean and vright..."

Oy...!

I'm just glad its not as bad as "some say love, it is a laser" that you hear on the first I love Cinemas album. Considering she doesn't have to write any new music to do these and the songs are beautiful I have no problems even if she has some bad pronunciations.

I can't take the lyrics seriously when they're so mangled. It's a pity because everything else is great, but if she can't say the words properly, then she obviously doesn't have a clue what they mean. If she doesn't know what they mean, then she's just singing syllables. The sounds may be beautiful, but without the emotional connection, it doesn't reach me.

Edelweiss, in particular, is a sumptuously beautiful song; behind the sublime lyrics and heartbreaking, deceptively simple melody, lies a commentary on patriotism, love, family, and the power of memory. It really, really shouldn't be covered by somebody who doesn't even understand what it means to the extent that she can't even sing the lyrics coherently.

It's as if somebody said to her, "Sing these words - they're pronounced like this, we think - use that nice breathy vocal style everybody loves, and it'll be fine." and then off she went into the studio.

(I'll leave aside the obvious irony of that particular song being sung by a Japanese person...!)

Very, very beautiful, and I thank you so so much for being so generous. I was looking for some of her music after hearing her Gedo Senki song, and was blown away by how pure her voice sounds. Then I heard The Rose, and started this desperate search for her albums, you are awesome, you know that? *hugs*

I am having lots of trouble getting the 5th album....Rapidshare seems bent on preventing any download of the file for me, is there another server you might be able to upload to? I know its troublesome, so only if you're okay with it k? I love the cinema series she's starting, and she sounds amazing, can't wait to hear more =)

Am I the only one with this problem? I tried it with Safari, and downloaded Firefox and Opera to try the link at different intervals throughout the day, but it doesn't seem to work for me, and I can't explain it. Sirusjr, if you don't mind, can you perhaps post it up at megaupload or any other service you might prefer? The other links seem to work fine, it's just the latest two that seems to be problematic. zshare seems to have stopped working too =P

You are probably getting the error of no download slots for free users. In any case because I love to share Aoi Teshima's work so much I will re-upload when I get home onto a mirror. I didn't mean to sound like i don't want to upload, just best to figure out why one thing doesn't work before I go and fix it with something else or I'll have the same problem over and over.
EDIT: I added new links for the last 2 :) Enjoy!

Sirusjr!! You're the best!! The two new links work beautifully, and no, I didn't think you sounded like you were reluctant to upload at any point, so don't worry about it - you've been very kind in fact =)
About the free user slots, perhaps that may be the case, but at times I get a message saying that there are no slots but other times I actually get a proper countdown going and a download link actually appears, but then an error message would pop up without fail, saying there was an error but never telling what the error is. I believe perhaps rapidshare simply doesn't support free downloads, since its ridiculous how many times I tried and on two different computers, mac and pc. But that doesn't matter now, I can't express fully how thankful I am to you for sharing! I checked out the Angela Aki page you have as well, I only heard Angela before in the Blood+ anime series when I got the single for the ending credits by her, will definitely try to listen to more of her music. By the way, have you heard Emi Fujita or Olivia Ong? I believe you will love both their voices =)

Oh wow wow wow wow!
I have heard a little Emi Fujita but just found a terrible quality audio version of Olivia Ong on youtube and even still I get the chills from her wonderful voice! Thankfully one of my favorite trackers seems to have a few of her albums :D
Perhaps I'll even create a thread with all of them once I get them.
You are very welcome for the music and should check out the Kokia thread as well :) Best!
EDIT: You're just lucky you needed a re-up for one of my favorite artists! I always want to keep those thread alive to share the love!

If you like, I'll upload Olivia's album's online so I might return some of the favor you've done for us folks, I have all her albums and been to a few acoustic sessions of hers, love her to bits =)
Hold on a bit, I'll round up the albums now and hopefully more people will get to know abit more about her too. Emi's another awesome singer, I have three of her albums, and there's also Kelly Sweet who has that clear, clean voice too.
Should you be interested in singers with a bit more unique voices, I'll recommend Zee Avi and Joanna Wang. I have their albums and have no problems sending them over to you, I'll post links up but I don't think I should filter them into your Aoi Teshima thread. =/

Well I found Precious Stones, Touch in the Sky, Kiss in the Air, A Girl Meets Bossanova (1 and 2), Fall in Love with Olivia, and Tamarillo. Assuming I didn't miss any there, I only need Precious Stones, because the one I found is in 128kbps.

As for Emi Fujita, I just have Camomile Best Audio and its only in 128kbps so anything you have would be welcome :)
I suggest you make a new thread for either one so they get extra attention.

Many thanks. Aoi Teshima has one of the freshest voices in the J-pop seen, and I've been keeping an eye on her ever since Earthsea.

Though her English may not be perfect, as it is not her primary language, I disagree with one point that Tangotreats made regarding that she has no clue what she is singing. Just because one cannot pronounce the words doesn't mean that one doesn't understand the meaning. Japanese is a language that each word ends in a vowel sound, as well as not being able to distinguish between l and r sound. Thus, it is very difficult for somebody who did not grow up learning English to be able to accurately pronounce English words.

Aoi Teshima was picked for the part of Therru through her audition tape of "The Rose," which is obviously a song she loves and practiced a lot. If it is a song she likes so much, she most likely has studied the lyrics and probably knows its meaning. I know I do that for Japanese songs. While I agree that Aoi Teshima has much room for improvement in the English language, I think the idea is, let her practice and grow more because she has a heavenly voice and is still young and has much more time ahead of her.

Many thanks for the updates. I would love to see Aoi Teshima get more recognition. I fell in love with her voice the moment I heard her sing in Earthsea... The movie was rather forgettable, but her voice was absolutely haunting and sort of redeemed the whole movie. Her songs have an enchanting yet calming tone to it that seems to resonate with the soul and she's only been improving.

Please check out the latest single with Yoko Kanno, "Because." It's short but absolutely beautiful; coming from a Yoko Kanno and Aoi Teshima fan, I couldn't have asked for a better collaboration.

Hi,

This is the nice thread!

but,
I download nothing from this place...

As for the husky voice of Teshima Aoi, I am a favorite, too.
In addition, her singing voice resembles Taeko Onuki closely very much.
