One of the best parts of the FF series (to me at least), is the awesome music. Nobuo Uematsu is a master in my opinion. SO, what is your favourite piece of FF music?

For me, there are several choices.

I love the main FF theme (the Prologue) in all it's forms, but the moment I first heard it when crossing that bridge on FFI back in 1990, I knew that this was something special. And when I heard Gulug Volcano, only served to confirm that fact.

So what's your favourite FF music, and why?

Some personal selections:

FFI - Prelude, Town Theme, Matoya's Cave (obviously!), The 'Bridge Theme' (later called the 'Prologue'), Gulug Volcano.

FFII - Prelude, Theme of the Rebel Army, FFII Main Theme, Boss Battle Theme, The first Chocobo Theme (even though it was incomplete), the Ending Theme.

FFI - Prologue! If I had to write a list of my favorite songs of all time (which would be extremely hard to do since I love music), Prologue would probably be on it. I definitely agree with you about loving it in all its forms but there being something special about it in FFI. There are also two other versions that I especially like (and I strongly recommend that anyone who likes Prologue find these mp3s or even buy the CDs) are "Final Fantasy: Pray" (I believe the singer's name is Risa Ohki, or something like that. I'll have to check, I have the cd) and the celtic version (not sure the title).

FFII - I have only played part of it but "Rebel Army" is right up there with Prologue. I actually bought the FF: Symphonic Suite cd just because of the orchestral arrangement of it. (which, no lie, I actually hear sometimes in my dreams. That's how haunting that song is to me.) And I also like the world map theme. (the FF: Pray cd has a good version of it).

FFIII: I only played the beginning of it so right now I don't know the music.

FFIV: Troian Beauty (especially the celtic arrangement. I found an mp3 of that somewhere; it's probably from the same CD as the celtic Prologue). Theme of Love (I think that's what it's called. Rosa and Cecil's theme). Dancing Calbrina (only because it manages to creep me out so much).

FFV: This is probably my least-favorite in terms of music. However, I did like "The Dragon Spreads His Wings" although it was way too short.

FFVI: Don't even get me started. I would name every single song in this game. This is Uematsu at his best. I guess if I had to choose a few, though, I'd say: Terra's Theme, Aria di Mezzo Caratterre (Celes's Theme), the magitek factory theme and Kefka's theme.

FFVII: Tough choice, almost as tough as FFVI. Aeris's theme (and "Flowers Blooming in the Church," which is based on her theme). Mako factory theme. Rock de Chocobo (you know, the snowboarding song). Cid's Theme. One Winged Angel. Also, I like Tifa's and Barret's themes not so much for the songs themselves as because they remind me of when I first played FFVII (I guess because they are played in the beginning of the game). They make me feel nostalgic or something.

FFVIII: Waltz to the Moon. Eyes on Me. Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (I know I misspelled that...). Liberi Fatali. Man with a Machine Gun. The Oath. There are others but if I don't shut up now I never will...

FFIX: Haven't played it yet.

FFX: Haven't finished it yet. There are definitely some songs I really like but I'm not sure of their titles.

FF4 - Another Moon, FFIV - Mystic Mysidia
FF7 - Aeris' Theme, Electric de Chocobo, One Winged Angel, JENOVA.
FF8 - The Castle, SeeD, Lunatic Pandora.

FF1: The battle theme: This maybe my favorite battle theme out of all the Final Fantasies... don't ask me why. o_O

FF2: Overworld Theme (WS Version): The wonderswan verison of this song added a few more good notes which made it better than it was.

FF3: Haven't really touched it... so cannot say.

FF4: Haven't played it long enough

FF5: Overworld Theme: The only song that actually made me stay and watch the messed up Anime. >_<

Actually I just got the soundtrack in the mail about a week ago. I really like listening to it while I have to clean the house. It makes me feel like I'm playing the game unstead of cleaning:p .

Oh, dear Gaia, I could list almost every FF song in the book when it comes to which ones I like. Heheh... um.... let me try to make some order out of it.

FF1 - FF3 - Prelude/Prologue/Final Fantasy, Gulug Volcano, Have You Seen Me?. The prelude always really gets me into the "Final Fantasy" mode. The first time I heard the symphonic version, I was picking my jaw up off the ground. It was GORGEOUS. "Have You Seen Me?" is just cute. :) Mizu No Miko ia is also exremely nice.

FF4 - Main Theme (of course), Melody of Lute, Trorian Beauty, and Rydia's Theme. All of them are just so flowing, relaxing songs. Welcome to Our Town. I love this one for its warmth. Caming, yet energetic.

FF5 - Music Box will always be my favorite out of this sondtrack. Tenderness in the Air and Lenna's Theme, are ones I have become fond of because of their symphonic versions.

FF6 - Oh, where to start? Tina, Kidds Run Through the City, Celes, Kefka's Theme, Mystic Forest.... This, along with FF9 and FF10, has got to be my favorite FF soundtrack. Some of Uyematsu's finest.

FF7 - Aeris Theme is probably the one that stands out the most. Didn't care much for her, but loved her theme.

FF8 - Fisherman's Horizon always has been a favorite becuase of the piano version. Ami, Liberi Fatali, and Balamb Garden are the other ones I really enjoy. And, of course, Eyes On Me. :)

FF9 - Now THIS soundtrack, I could literally list the whole 4-CD collection! Melodies of Life is my favorite SONG, period. Of the game music, You're Not Alone! is my ultimate favorite. Favorite part of the game, too. The Place I'll Return to Someday, Eternal Harvest, Rose of May (Beatrix's Theme), and Unfathomed Reminiscence are among some of the real stand-outs. Others I enjoy are Dagger's Theme, Hilde Guarde 3, Kuja's Theme, Eiko's Theme, Freya's Theme.... Zidane's Theme.... Beyond Those Hills, Ukulele de Chocobo, Aloha le Chocobo, THE BATTLE THEMES!!!! Hehehe, like I said, I can pretty much list the entire soundtrack. :)

FF10 - To Zanarkand, Otherworld, Rikku's Theme, Yuna's Theme, and Brass de Chocobo always stand out. And of coure, Sueki Da Ne.

Thanks for clearing up a mistake I made with the FFIX soundtrack Kuro. I named Beatrix's Theme 'Loss of Me', because that's what it was titled on GameMusic.com's track listing for the FFIX OST (obviously their translation skills aren't too good). But, 'Rose of May' sounds far more appropriate, given the fact she has a rose embrodiered on the back of her cape, and she was apparently born in May if my memory serves me correctly (That's what it said on the CG Shrines anyway, I think). So I assume that's the correct title. Thanks!

Hehe, that entire fourth CD is AWESOME!! Assault of the Dragons is also one of my favorite FMVs. Just gets me excited to fight Nova. I just wish that theme kept playing into the fight, though!
