I was really starting to believe that no one was interest in this thread. :)

I bought the first tape with the first episode. I really loved what I saw...and in the ending you had many previews of next episodes. I was very sad because the company that was delivering this tape it went down.
The first episode really marked me want to see more...so i downloaded the episodes...and as result....
I loved it (or still love :D )

The series was quite unique for japanese style and I enjoyed it quite a lot, really nice mood and overall production.

Yes, I very well know your opinion of his music, but I don't see the point that you have to state your opinion over and over again as the whole forum seems to know very well that you don't like Kaoru Wada's scores.

It doesn't give that good impression of you. You can state it once or twice, but repeating that fact of yours does no good. Just like you say that Wada is over-rated, well in that case you seem to over-use your statements.

No offense, but it's rather irritating for you to state that opinion all the time, no matter the topic or reasonable arguments over things.

Everyone has bad and good things. You just need to do what you are doing now... complain. :)
I admit that kaoru wada looks better on game soundtracks.
You understand when I say the kaoru wada looks like he recicles is own soundtracks?
I dont find kaoru wada that good of a musician.
I've notice you are a kind of fan of him. Right?
But I confess to you!
You, The one that is protecting Karoru Wada! :P
I was afraid of hearing HARLOCK SAGA. Because it was him (I'm allways afraid of hearing anything of him).
I just heard 5 first songs of the soundtrack 1, and got stuck on those 5 tracks....
When I have my courage back... I think I will do a KAORU WADA MARATHON.
Because of him been so repetitive in his soundtracks, I loose my will to continue listen. Although I canfess he is the RARE composer of orchestra that still composes on the old days, If know what I mean. some songs it looks like i'm journey back time, to where mozart is alive. :D

Morbus

You have totally misunderstood me and my intents, for I most certainly not protecting Kaoru Wada or his music or musicianship. I am a "fan" of Kaoru Wada as I am a "fan" of hundreds of game, film, anime, classical, rock, heavy-metal, etc. composers. There is no limit to what I listen to (but only when it comes to mainstream shit and styles such as rap, hip-hop, mainstream pop, etc. stuff that I cannot tolerate anyhow) and I don't protect anyone.

I think you should check my opening comments on this thread:
Thread 60195

the second post on the top of the page, maybe then you understand my intent.

Your comment against my opinion of Kaoru Wada's music is as stupid as I would say to you that you like Kenji Kawai's music so much and protect him by that.
Same thing, same context and totally out of place ;p

Orie

I was not against your comment. I was simply...commenting your comment (i think i write it wrong)

Well, anyhow, I love his work and I haven't yet found any score - no matter how repetitive or variated it was compared to some other OST of his - that I would be bored of, or wouldn't like at all. I find his music truly appealing, invigorating and striking. He has certain emotion he can draw upon and especially I think what makes Kaoru Wada truly appreciative is his ability to make truly tense, horror-movie kind of soundtracks with bombastic approach.
That somewhat draws my attention case sensitive.

But as stated many a times, to each their own, right =) .

Kishin the Symphony: Kishin The Symphony (http://www.mediafire.com/?dogcdn73vshsa60)

it's my upload guys ;) and on OGG but on very hard quality :) Orie, it's for you :)

Kaoru Wada for the first time I heard his music I was blown away. It was on 3x3 Eyes. But the problem is that unfortunately this composer uses and reuses the same melodies, the same rhythm, as Kenji Kawai. There are at times, moments of grace, like Inuyasha or Kishin Eidan, or bo Kindaichi Tantei, but it stops very quickly. This is a good composer, who does his job with serious but unimaginative. It was also among American composers (Jerry Goldmith among others)

Thanks, Yotadelatisane for the Vorbis. Album information with composer credits at VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/24968).

I asked for a re-up, because of this comment:

The first track here is actually from Silent Mbius, but was performed live at this concert. Later on the entire score for Kishin was performed live with the movie on a giant screen a la John Williams and E.T. The Kishin score is a good effort by Wada to take the Western approach to scoring a kid's film and make it his own.

I will re-upload as soon as I can.
And no, I am not going to forbid you guys of having this just because of my opinion of kaoru wada. I would never do that.

I just recently saw Kishin Heidan, just because I missed seeing it. And when I was hearing the soundtrack, even in the anime show, it was just getting damn annoying. I just don't know how guys like him when he recycles his stuff over and over and over and over again. It's always the same compositions in everything.
I just could not enjoy the show as I did as a kid. Because has a kid I never actually heard much of Kaoru Wada, and actually thought he was cool. But after seeing like, 4 different anime stories, and hearing the same exact stuff.... Yeah, I wish I never knew kaoru wada or never heard his stuff. Maybe like that, Kishin Heidan would still seem magical to me.

When I can I will re-upload.

I underestimated the anime because of its character design. After I saw the first ova, which I own the video tape, I was just amazed with it. Character design might look very childish, at least for me, but it's mature plot is and the mecha working system were just incredible. I then tried to get all the episodes on the web and saw the anime. And it's one of my favorite anime ova. With a special place for it.

Yes, re-upload of the OST for the series would be most welcome. I once had them, until the day my PC decided to obliterate itself. So if someone would be kind and upload this masterpiece back here, I am sure there are plenty of of Kaoru Wada fans who would appreciate the effort. Thanks!

Orie: Are you not a fan of Wada, then? I've never quite understood why he's supposed to be so special. He's a frustrated concert hall composer snoozing through anime to pay his mortage, at least that's the impression I get from his music. I don't find anything he's written particularly noteworthy; most of his scores just annoy me (and I'm not quite sure why) with a handful I find tolerable but I'd rather be listening to almost anything else...! I find myself somewhat relieved that he seems to be semi-retired now.

Orie
01-18-2014, 04:16 PM
I could believe you knew I did not like Kaoru Wada. 0.o

His music is annoying because he recycles every damn composition throughout endless animes. When I was a kid, I first heard Kaoru Wada in Ninja Scroll. That was when I was getting interested in him, Then I saw/heard 3x3 eyes, and I was hearing certain compositions that were already on Ninja Scroll. When I saw Kishin Heidan, I actually loved the soundtrack. But then I have heard other works of him, the soundtrack is annoying at 1000%. I was wanting to re-watch Kishin heidan and the soundtrack was make it look so damn annoying. Because I just can't stop my brain from pointing out itself the tunes that were already used in other of his works. That is why I say if you want teh soundtrack for ninja scroll or 3xx3 eyes, or kishin heidan... just buy a random soundtrack of him and you have all soundtracks in 1.
There is one particular composition that grew a great hate on me. I call it the "Hope theme" which he used has vocal in that kishin symphony, and the same exact composition was used as vocal... again... in silent mobious movie 2. When I was watching back in 2006, Samurai 7 anime, i was surprised "the man is making different music", but then 6 or 7 episodes to the end of the series THAT "Hope Theme" pops out "Oh For Fuck Sake!!!".
I can understand, when a composer likes his own composition and wants to put it in all of his soundtracks to work like a signature of him. But in his case, that tradition is getting annoying. The only original soundtrack he ever composed in my opinion was in GUNNM (also known as Battle Angel Alita). We really have new compositions and those he never touched them again to re-use or anything like that. Maybe that is why I like that soundtrack so much. It's not annoying, and sadly is the one that had no soundtrack release. Ok, yes we have some, typical again re-used themes already in ninja scroll, but the new stuff was never released. "GUNNM ANOTHER STORY" has new bgm and different versions, not in the ova.
Anyway. I fail to understand what's the fuzz about Kaoru Wada being such a great a composer. Either people have hearing problem, or they are just fanboy/girls, not willing to admit that he just sucks.
A friend of mine started to see Kishin Heidan, and before that, he had seen Inu Yasha, and says he is hearing Inu Yasha compositions in the anime.
And I have not yet finished Tekkaman Blade, not just because it is a bad show, but the music makes it annoying, and it does not fit it at all.

Morbus

Tangotreats: I guess you dislike Kaoru Wada's music - just like many others - for the reason that he (like Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer) recycle the certain themes and makes variables out of them on most scores.
But then again, like those two composers - alongside many other - are what I call "thematic" composers, yet really talented. Wada's music is complex on many occasions and he has really intriquing style of making the horror/tension music,
which is his fort. There are scores that are truly original apart from other OSTs, such as "Harlock Saga: Der ring des Nibelungen" and "Kindaichi Hajime Shounen no Jikenbo" and "To Hearts" and "Gakkou no Kaidan". These OSTs boast a different approach and new themes, though similarities can be found, whether it was 3x3 Eyes or Silent Mbius movie OST and the like. But, to each their own, just out of boredom wanted to share my opinion on this great composer, recycling themes or not.
