Today Square confirmed rumors that it is developing semi-sequels, or sidestories to its hit PS2 game, Final Fantasy X. Square plans to develop two such titles, tenatively titled "Yuna" and "Rikku". The games will utilize the FFX engine, and reportedly concern adventures transpiring after the events of Final Fantasy X. While most of the original FFX team will have moved on to other projects, director Yoshinori Kitase will remain to oversee the development of the new games.
Square plans to release both titles in Japan by the end of the fiscal year, but no mention was made of an international release at this time. This announcement marks a new chapter in the Final Fantasy series, as no previous FF game has been given a sequel of any sort, let alone two. RPGamer will continue to keep you posted as more developments on this story become available
What do you think?

Where did you hear that?
That sounds pretty amusing and something that I might be looking forward too, but often these kind of rumours get squashed...maybe...just maybe...

Uhm... yeah, where'd you hear that? I don't want rumors spread here 'cause people might believe it, and it might not be true. So if you could give us the link, I'll be really thankful =O

I have heard this on Gamespot as well... It's possible alright... but for the US... >_<
Since we haven't seen the DVD disc, they have a good reason to not release it to the US... but then after screwing us with FF4 and not releasing FF5 earlier... I guess they might o_O

Yeah I heard about this too. Probably a 90% chance it won't go international though, just like FFX: International. Since FFX didn't do as well as square wanted in the US you can almost guarantee these sequels (IF they do in fact make it to the shelves in Japan) will never hit the US. Man do I hope I'm wrong on this one though =). I'd love to see them translated. I won't bother to import them as I speak Japanese very poorly and read Japanese even worse =p. I could barely get through DBZ: Hyper Dimension's text much less a hardcore RPG *lol*.

Well if it is true, and they don't go international, then I will just have to go and learn some Japenese and take a vacation there so I can pick it up!:D

I think they didn't release FFX international because it was almost hte exact same except a few kinks. I think Square will release these in the US because these are two totally different games, but just in the same world. If they don't Square is making a mistake =P.
PS
I think FFX did pretty well in sales, not sure what Square was expecting, but i think they earned a profit =)
