I really need to know what everything associated with FFXI will cost so that I can convince my mom to allow me to get it:lol .
Remember no prices have been annouced officaly by Square.
But the Beta Packadge consisting of the game, the Hard drive and the modem was sold in Japan for about $89. I'm not sure if Sony/Square want to keep the price around that. Monthly fees will be about $10 a month(the AVG price for most MMORPGS out now). Plus whatever you pay for an internet connection.

Thank you very much. I know it will be a while before Square announces their final prices for everything, but having a place where everyone can pool their information is very helpful. I don't think any two sites will ever agree on what the truth is, so if we collect all the rumors here, that will save some time!:lol

Man! I hope they have a secondary package. Like instead of using a modem you can use your Lan connection. It would suck if I use modem. Talk about lag heaven.

The newest issue of the Official Playstation Mag says that the Sony modem will cost around $40.

Im pretty sure you have to buy a special playonline modem to play. I dont think PC will change that.

They might require the Hard Drive for it also. If it is like most on-line games they are all the time haveing you download patches to fix bugs, or to have special events, add new zones, change zones, etc. I would doubt the memory card would be enough for that. But then again maybe it won't be that way. IF that is the case I would think it would get boreing after awhile?

In PSO, Sega fixed up servers without you having to d/l a patch...I hate how companies are trying to make consoles into geek machines (computers)...

this is how I picture them working this out. Either its PC or PS2. When you first buy the game it will come with a serial number on the case. this serial number you use to creat your account. When you log into the game you have to put in your account name and password. BAMB! you are in and ready to play your character. Nothing hard about that and its safe.

Eh hem. They will charge you a month and can't do that by a serial code. They will need your credit card.

They don't really need your credit card, they can have the time you play chared to your phone bill instead, like the porno programs do.

PlayOnline doesnt have a monthly fee but ff11 does.
and the game will work through dsl and broadband and networks so if u have LAN or broadband...then ya have no lag but if ya use modem...then there is lag:mad:

Will you be able to type in messages to other players by getting a keyboard?

How much stuff do you need to buy just to get the game? Keyboard, modem, hardrive, game, monthly bill. *Thinks about getting UO Back...*
