I'm currently working on the complete soundtrack for 24 Season 6, and I present to you Disk 1 :)



24 Season 6 - Complete Soundtrack /// DISK 1

This is DISK 1 of the complete soundtrack for 24 season 6. This disk contains EVERY piece of music from the first four episodes of season 6. Disks 2-6 are either available as your're reading this, or they are still in progress, and will be available to download when ready. This is obviously not an official release, but these 6 disks of music should keep you going until the official soundtrack is released, which going by previous releases may be a while yet, sometime after season 7 or 8.

This is a rip, so there is some light SFX in certain tracks. However, my extraction and editing methods have cut down on the amount, and voices have been completely removed without any loss of quality. I've done my best to touch up some of the tracks where necessary. Disk 1 seems to have more SFX in the first half or so, than the last. So bare with it :)

The piece of music I remember and am interested in listening to again is the music that plays during the VERY end of the season, throughout when Jack is with Audrey, and when he walks outside to the ocean. I guess i'll have to wait a while for that, though :-(

Dude, awesome work! However I have noticed some missing music - there's a little (part of a) cue in between tracks 4 and 5 on disc 1. See...this is how good a job you've done...I'm having to find fault in something as small as this. :p

Listened again to the rip of the episode and i'm afraid all you hear during that time you mentioned are a light instrument (violin?) playing roughly the same note for about 30 seconds that is essentially a bridge between the two tracks. There are repeated car door shutting sounds during the time, and it would have been too hard to neutralise them on such a minor track.

Your epic-ness keeps increasing!

Be sure to include the "escape" theme that played throughout the latter half of 11am-12pm of Season 1, from when Jack's family gets into the van up until the clock ticking at the very end. Was VERY dissappointed that it wasn't included in the official soundtrack :-(

That scene had a lot of gunfire from what I remember :) I'll see what I can do ;)

I was hoping to make this a surprise release, but I actually need the communities help :)

I am working on a rip of Season 5 (not complete like the Season 6 one, but more of an 'expanded' version of the official soundtrack). It contains 56 tracks, which are currently in the editing process.

What I need help with is the order of the tracks. I have two choices, a) to order them as they appear in the season, or b) keep it more varied and random, like the official soundtracks. The disadvantage to the first option is there may be one track that's similar to the one before it, where as this is the advantage of the second.

So, what do you think?

Either way works for me - as long as the track titles are specific enough so we can work out what scene they are from. Even if you just write in brackets which episode they are from that should be sufficient.

Hmm, not keen on the bracket option to be honest. Is it really important to know what episode they are from? I'm going to keep them roughly in the order they appear, i'm not going to be having the ending suite as Track 2 for instance :)

Then how about:

01. 5.01 Track name
02. 5.07 Track name
03. 5.12 Track name

etc?

At least specify where they are from somewhere (even if it's just in a notepad file!) :)

I'm very pleased with how this rip is going. It should be released in the next couple of days :)

I've decided to mix the tracks up a little, to give a little more variation to the tracklist. Nothing too drastic though - you won't be hearing the ending suite as track 2 for instance!

Speaking of such, how exactly are you doing this? If I were to guess, i'd say that you have an external audio source playing into the computer (or a program on the computer) that's manually cutting off some of the source audio to just hear (mostly) the music layer of the dvd audio. I think as such because I accidentally did something like that before when I was watching a Stargate DVD.

How exactly are you doing it? I ask because a certain composer, Joel Goldsmith, has been INCREDIBLY stubborn in his efforts to release the music he's composed for Stargate SG1 over the years. A majority of the series' incredible music and themes has been developed and seen since the release of the season 1 soundtrack, but in the past 10 years, we have not seen a SINGLE release of the TV music (not counting the two movies, of course). I would like to apply this technique to get some of the themes i've loved for years in their (almost) pure form :-)

Oh awesome. Just a shot in the dark here, would you by any chance happen to have the music from when Jack and Nathanson are in the building, fighting off a bunch of people coming after them? I've been looking for what episode it was but I can't find it, however I'm pretty sure it was in the first 3rd of the season. I remember really enjoying the music and hoping it would be on the CD release but it wasn't.

An important post concerning other seasons - please read before asking me to rip them :

Season 1 - Not Possible except with all sound effects (SFX) and voices included. You will be hearing exactly what you hear when watching the episode (yes, i'm sad about this season too...)
Season 2 - Possible but with lots of SFX, and music quality will be poor (quiet) in comparison to the SFX. No voices.
Season 3 - Complete
Season 4 - In Progress
Season 5 - Complete

May I ask why? Have they been doing different mixing in the newer seasons? From the sounds of it, the music is just layered over the top of everything else rather than properly mixing it on all the various channels.

Downloading the disks now. Not an overly huge fan of the series, although its got some good moments, but the music is generally pretty good so much props to you, Thalin, for taking the time to actually do all this.

It will be an expanded score rather than a complete score, so it'll be released as one. The music just hasn't been good enough to warrant a complete score, but it's had its moments.

Nice release on Season 6, very well done. Shame Season 7 doesnt warrent a complete release, perhaps you could reconsider... As you know, someones trash is another mans gold (perhaps it is worthwhile?) anyway, great stuff. Looking forward to season 7 and if you consider (or rather reconsider) doing the first 5 seasons (complete) that would also be cool :)

Sean Callery did a wonderful job of creating a unique vibe / atmosphere for the scenes shot at FBI headquarters, which builds strongly on the established CTU themes. The moments leading up to the split-screen climaxes are as frantic as ever. And you gotta love those pulse pounds (boom...). Complete or expanded, I'll be looking forward to this one!

Hmmm... I thought this year's music was really well done. But if it's just as long as your Season 4/5 collections and it gets the high points, I'll be an extremely happy camper.

I've ripped the music from the first disk. I estimate it'll be around the length of my season 3 rip, which is 24 tracks. Which is still definately worthy of a release!

Just a quick note regarding this particular rip, taken from the readme -


Due to popular request I have decided in some of the tracks to keep the 'whooshing' sound in. Fans of 24 should know what this is but for those who don't, it is the sound that plays as the final cutboxes appear in the episodes. In past rips I have cut this out as it can be quite distracting, but I feel that it makes the music cut strangely in it's place and it is better to keep in. You might notice some slight volume changes around the time of the whoosh sound, this was necessary otherwise the sound would be much to loud. If you still don't know what I mean, listen to the 8:15 mark of 'The Trade' in my season 3 rip. This is an example of where it's been kept in. Obviously if it can be cut out without it being noticable, I have gone ahead and done that.

Oh, have you ever tried to rip any of the "Previously on 24" tunes? It's basically a mix of various songs, but I've always wanted to have it lol

I'm getting constant requests to rip the 'previously' tunes, and the answer is no! There is simply too much SFX and loud sounds every time a name appears, it just wouldn't work.

Heh, I really did think he had an amazing score this year. IMO he deserves an Emmy.

I couldn't agree more, Callery has come so far from his mentor, Mark "X-Files" Snow. Great Stuff.

I hope so. Just started watching this season over again on Blu-Ray, and I am actually impress. Yeah that I certainly noticed too, he did borrow quite a bit from before. He did tweak some of those ones though if I remember correctly. I haven't picked up the DVDs yet.

First of all, thanks a lot for all this score. Just awesome.

But I've seen the rip is not a complete score (as you did with Season 6). I'm missing some cuts... like in episode 7x23, while Jack kidnaps the FBI wagon on the highway. That cut is absolutely amazing, pure action music.
