Thanks!
I was wondering if Don Davis worked with Holdridge on Beauty and Beast (TV)? The Star battle in Star Command, the 10 minute track - Davis developed some of the chromatic chord progressions from Star Command there right? The trombones match Matrix Revolutions in parts. What do you think?
Anyway, these are great. Listening to Nimph. Very nice

Thanks dannyfrench.
The only Holdridge score I'm familiar with is The Mists of Avalon, which I thought was great. It will be interesting how these compare.

I just listened to Star Command, and it's really good, especially the Star Battle.
I don't know if the theme that plays at the 7:14 mark in Star Battle was one of the pieces you thought inspired my theme144 suite thing, but I can hear the resemblance. It seems to happen all the time, for example, something I wrote long before Williams scored Prisoner of Azkaban ended up sharing a tune with that score, and also one of my composition assignments a few years later ended up becoming a central theme in Zimmer's score to The Simpsons Movie the next year. But the craziest thing to ever happen is some 8 years ago I wrote Debney's Seaquest DSV theme without ever having watched the show before or seeing/hearing its opening credits. They're not exactly the same, but similar enough that I could never use it for anything in the future. :(

Holdridge and Davis shared Beauty And The Beast - I believe Davis started off helping out Holdridge with arrangements and so forth, and it grew to a 50-50 sharing of workload. So there's definitely going to be some crossover in styles there. :)

Now you mention it, yes, there is a similarity.
I feel your pain. I've written themes that show up years later in movies, in video games, and I think, DAMN! -- Two things spring to mind, both bad:
a) The themes are generic and crappy to the extent where anybody could've thought of them.
b) The themes are great and somebody made a success of them. And had I been in there position I could have done the same.
Both are bad news...

Thank you very much for Star Command / Freefall. I had these on CD but it warped so badly that it became unplayable. So you gave me the opportunity to get a copy. I have been waiting for a couple of weeks for the download because the Sharebee site has been down and I didn't expect the link to work after so long. Very grateful and best wishes.
