I think the title is "End of Small Sanctuary", the track that plays when Heather is walking about bathed in the orange light of dusk, near the beginning of Silent Hill 3. Nothing but that droning strum of an electric guitar and those crazy drum beat/industrial mayhem sounds he's known for. Absolutely my most favorite track Yamaoka has made for the series.

I haven't played 3 or 4 yet so I haven't checked out the soundtrack.. I haven't listened to the first one's OST on its own.. but one of my favorite songs, I believe it's from the second one, is Laura Plays The Piano.. I'm not sure why it captivates me so, but it's just.. amazing

The songs I listen to the most are: Room of Angel, You're Not Here, Letter from the Lost Days, Shot Down in Flames and O.R.T.
My favorite pieces of instrumental music are Theme of Laura, Die and End of Small Sanctuary.

You're not here is a must in many SH fans' playlist XD
And I also got in my mp3 player and playlist Your Rain, I Want Love (both remixes) and Hometown (c'mon, it's nostalgic)

For vocal tracks probably the usual favourites of "You're Not Here", "Tender Sugar", "Waiting For You", and "Cradel of Forest" even though I've always found Romersa's voice somewhat odd.
As for vast number of instrumentals:
SH2:
Laura's Theme
Angels Thanatos
Terror in the Depths of the Fog
The Reverse Will
Overdose Delusion
SH3:
End of Small Sanctuary
Walk on Vanity Ruins
Sickness unto Foolish Death
SH4
Waverer - Slide Mix (LE OST)
Sunrise
Sliced
Drops of Shame
Wounded Warsong
Underground Dawn -never come-
I also have a few collections of unreleased tracks with monster sounds. Love to have them going at full blast all day long. Really freaks out the neighbours.

I listen to all the albums but I mainly play the tracks featuring Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.
I've recently been playing 'Shot Down in Flames' from the Silent Hill Origins OST. One of my fave tracks, check it out.

I kind of wonder why, with an OST full of good tracks, most of the posters so far have limited themselves to the scant number of vocal tracks. Are the soundtracks not your genre? Have you flat out not even listened to the other tracks altogether? Or have you listened and found the music lacking in some form?
Just curious.

I love Yamamoka's music in general. Die is probably my favorite track he's written for the series, vocal or otherwise. I just happen to listen to the vocal music a little more often than the purely instrumental (if you can call metal clanging on metal instrumental).
I find that as I get older, I have a slightly more sensitive ear. And a sensitive ear doesn't really gel well with some of this music (particularly from the first game).

I didn't shell out a load of money on the discs just to listen to the vocal tracks but my wife moans when i play the non-vocal tracks (except Theme of Laura).
She just gives me a funny look and asks "what the hell is this rubbish". She obviously has no taste. lol.

Same here. Sometimes I listen to some of my 'old favorites' and ask myself how my ears never bleed back then.

Yeah, soundtracks aren't my genre. I honestly only know a handful of instrumental VGM tracks by name.
