And J. Peterman knows bad conferences :p.
Also I've heard of MAG, but with Sony's poor online stability, it's gonna cost them quite some money, or it's gonna play really choppy.
I was actually just about to make a thread on the topic, but really, there isn't much to say about it. It was an even worse conference than Nintendo's, so I'm quite glad that I didn't have to bother with it.
I think it's entirely safe to declare Microsoft this year's winner.

Not that Microsoft's was that good. FFXIII coming to 360 was news but who really cares about FF anymore? Rock Band 2 got some good news as well, but everything else was just as shitty and boring as the other two IMO

Hands down, worst conference of the three. The lack of things I was expecting to see was kinda frustrating
I only heard a single release date for a PS3 single game.
GoW III trailer wasn't a trailer, it was a fucking teaser :/
Would it have killed them to show some GT5 with cars that actually have damage models? Or at least a new trailer?
Also, come on! Release PS Home!

Pimp Daddy, I think we shouldn't really pay attention to this Sony Company. We should save that money we planned on using to buy that Metal Gear Solid 4 Playstation 3 Bundle and use it on something much more productive - Asian hookers.
There isn't much to say other than I'm looking forward to GOWIII

My god, E3 sucks this year.

It was ok..E3 was lame as shit this year..well, at least the press conferences were..Nintendo's was criminal, the shit that company gets away with is unbelievable..anyhow I'm going home to watch the 5-8 coverage I taped..I heard the Killzone 2 demo is amazing

The only good thing about the conference was GOWIII, and that's pretty sad. Sony rolled the dice one too many times and crapped out. The only other game they have is Killzone 2, and while it may look great, something tells me the gameplay will be broken just like the first game.

there are a few gameplay vids. And I can say unbiasedly it doesn't look that way. The physics and graphics are incredible, and not that I've felt the controls but they looked pretty steady in the vid.

It was either you loved it or hated it. Sadly, and understandably, the majority hated it. I was one of the few who loved it. But by the time they came out with the analog patch for the game it was too late. But I doubt it will be anything like Lair.

Lol @ them mislabeling Valkyria Chronicles as a PSP game.
I'm not really into E3. The types of games they want to show off aren't the type I'm interested in. I only watched the Sony conference at the prospect for news on the new Team Ico game (which didn't happen, despite them raising my hopes by showing a copy of Ico earlier at the beginning) and the first few minutes of Microsoft conference for Fallout 3 (which didn't really impress me). I will say that Resistance 2 looked interesting, although I have a feeling that whole monster battle was heavily scripted.

technically you didn't win the bet, since the 80gb version we have now is (presumably) being discontinued.
The 40gb version is being upgraded to have 80gb and will stay the same price.
I make this distinction because it will have the same lack of backwards compatibility the 40gb has now. This also answers Garamond's question lol

shh, dont tell that to my neighbor.
he doesnt care for consoles anymore because he turned to the dark side and became a pc gamer only.
but if what you say is true, then sony has ran out of ideas.
next year (or several months) sony will anounce a 120 GB for 600 dlls.
the current 80 gb version should drop in price then, if its getting discontinued.

I don't see how it's emulating the Wii mote. Newsflash the Wii was not the first motion capture gaming system. They've been in arcades for years. All Nintendo did was bring it into your house and make it affordable.

Yes the sixaxis system is limited. Because the PS3 is not made to be a Motion capture system, it's merely an added extension of the controls. Now I'm not saying that exempts them from having crappy controls.

Hell, as far as I know, the only big 360 game is Gears of War 2. The Wii already had Brawl and Mario Kart. The PS3 still has LPB, Resistance 2 and SOCOM coming. I'd mention KZ2 but that's in Feb of '09.

360 has, just to name a few: Fable 2, GoW2, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, and maybe the new Banjo Kazooie, as well as Lost Odyssey and Ninja Gaiden 2 which were already released.
Wii has: Brawl and Mario Kart already, as well as Boom Blox, No More Heroes, and Blast Works, with Samba de Amigo, Castlevania Judgment, Animal Crossing, and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World coming this year. Plus The Conduit and MadWorld coming Q1 of next year...
PS3 has: MGS4, LBP, R2, SOCOM, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, and I guess Ratchet and Clank.
That's being generous with every game I listed. The 360 and Wii both have way more exclusives than the PS3, but these were the ones that I understand will be decent from the list. Not sure what you mean by "Big title" though.

Wii Sports Resort will likely outsell every game scheduled to be released on every other console. Wii Music will likely do okay, but I'm not really sure what the market is for that to be honest. Nobody here probably cares about these games at all, but these will sell extremely well and continue to make Nintendo huge profits off of games that likely had much lower costs to make than something like Final Fantasy XIII or Metal Gear Solid 4.
It's just people who play games like us don't care about them while the casual crowd who only bought a Wii for Wii Sports and junk will continue to help Nintendo stay a money-printing factory. And I'm sure there are still people who want these games that haven't been able to find a Wii (like my cousins)

The new 80GB PS3 has backwards compatibility. I know, since I just got the 80GB/MGS4 pack.
Also, Fable 2 and GOW2 look great. Those are going to the 360 over here, of course. The multiplatform games are going on the PS3 as well as SOCOM, GT5, and Killzone 2, though. Mainly because I like the PS3 menus and because my ps3 has a bigger HDD than the 360 I've got.
A word about the first Killzone: If they'd waited about 6 more months, the game would've been great. They should've been patient with it and produced a better game. Mind you, I liked the game, but it definitely should've waited.

This whole backwards talk is silly to me. Like Catastrohpe said, I have a fully functioning PS2, so I don't care about that. Also it won't probably be until 2010 or 12 before I think about getting a PS3. That's if the system is still around, and if it is, they might fix the BC issue.
J. Peterman

you see i care about backwards compatibility because my monitor for my computer has no component but has hdmi/dvi/vga and i would basically use the ps3 to play my ps2 on my monitor through the hdmi
without that i don't care much about getting the system
I would've cared if most of my games weren't imports and backups. Unless Swap Magic works on the PS3 of course. But I'm going to agree with CATASTROPHE as well and am perfectly fine playing the PS2 from time to time.

Those without the PS3 right now can go and get the 80GB model like what came out with MGS4. That one's BC all the way. I'd much rather do that than fight with MS and hope for a patch for my XBOX games.
A really good reason to get the PS2-BC model of the PS3 is so you folks with HDTVs can play your PS2 games and not have them look horribly out of resolution since the PS3 does a killer job of upscaling the resolution. Besides, the cost is worth it. My MGS4/80GB package cost about $630 after shipping, but it came with a $60 game and 2 DS3 controllers, so the extra controller puts the package at $110 worth on top of the system along with the console itself.
Also, I've had no problems with my PS2 games running on the PS3. I've got about 40 of them, and have had no problems thus far.
