So, I have all the classics on my PS1 except III (obviously) and IV (don't have Chronicles). But can someone clear me up on a brief history on how they were released and what versions?

So, correct me if this is wrong (because it might very well be as things I heard contradict each other)

So, the first six were released in Japan for Nintendo, and then were all released in the US except for III. Though, what confused me is I heard that VI was called III in the US. It wasn't anymore by the time they remade it for PS1 under Anthology, but my question is, how did they get back in sync with Japan when they released VII? Did they just have a lot of clueless Americans asking "what happened to VI"?

Of course with the PS1 release and all and the remakes of III-VI for DS must have cleared that up for everyone by now, but what exactly happened with the classics?

Ever hear of a thing called translations? Also the fact that FF wasn't known to be a success so they didn't plan to release it outside of Japan. Hell, we didn't get FF until they got FF2. So by the time we got another FF, the SNES was coming out and they sent us FFIV, but since it was the second we got they named it FF2.

V was skipped due to translations and time contraints. Then VI came over and became FF3. When VII was released, Square said, "Fuck it, name 'em correctly now"

I can't believe people are still curious to the numbering... GODDAMNIT ZAK READ A FUCKING WIKIPEDIA PAGE FOR ONCE

Discussion of classics belongs in the Classics section. Moving.

You would think everyone would have them straight, guess it depends on age.
What I mean by that is a lot of us that in our early 20's or are at least 16 have been FF Fans for a while a we know the numbers, but some of the newer fans dont yet, and I dont blame them because of all the fucking remakes. It would be confusing as shit these days.

'f course I wouldn't judge a noob who has no idea about any Final Fantasy but FFXII or something.

But seriously, Zak is registered here since 2006, and he still didn't know that.

For your information, if you read the entire original post I said that I did play the Sony versions of the classics. If you weren't such a shallow cunt maybe you'd consider the fact that seeing at the sony versions are almost the same, then someone who's played them might not have cared less in the past as to what they used to me or whatever, and that's nowhere near having no idea about any final fantasy before X or whatever, sorry to say. If you're gonna equate it to that, then honestly you're no better than people who truly think that.

Why would anyone with only a sony system be obligated to know how many systems those games have been through when it's the same game?

And of course I wouldn't expect anything better from Swami. What's wrong? You seem to be having a miserable week. I've seen you do a lot of things, but not talk out of your ass.

Look dude. Here are thousands of threads. And it's not like that answer hasn't been given before. There are thousands of pages answering that question. Not only Wikipedia.
Hell, even the MAIN SITE (meaning http://www.ffshrine.org ) states the informations about the IV/II and VI/III confusion.

Seriously.

You don't have to call me cunt just because you're too lazy to get your ass into Google and type "FF4"

For the record, I did do that, and found different things that contradicted each other, including wikipedia. And that still doesn't explain why you would think it's a big deal despite me registering in 2006, and blindly assume I'm one of those people that thinks FF started with VII or something. Maybe I misunderstood but it sure as hell seemed like you were equating me to them, hence why I called you a cunt. But if you weren't, then I can take that part back.

Actually I said: "I would understand your unnecessary question if you were a FFXII-kiddo".

The fact you're 1 1/2 year registered here already actually made me wonder if you didn't read any threads going on here at all and just were spamming in the General Discussion board or something. Because you're registered long enough that you should've seen some of these threads during those 18 months. The fact you didn't means you're blind or didn't pay any attention on what was going on at all.

Touche. Apologies and for the record yes I actually frequent about every FF section but this one for some reason, and General Discussion indeed.

Sherlock, if you'd want to live up to your screen name, maybe you should realise that most people who come here don't talk much about Final Fantasy. In fact, an elementary constatation would show you how the FF forums don't really touch the "number" subject and focus on rumbles and some help people might need.

And it is a well known fact that most people who come here don't check the "main site" as you call it.

And for you information, there are people here who don't even play Final Fantasy games.

That may be, but I'd suppose someone to play FF and talking on the FF boards would read threads on them.

Yeah. Unfortunately I'm an optimist. I always calculate more intelligence and attention than little to none at all to most of the users here. Sorry. From now on I'll try to act on the assumption that noone is able to make some clues by themselves and too stupid to get informations on their own, and neither anyone is paying attention to what's going on.

Yeah because, you know, you never ever once asked a question to get some knowledge from people more knowledgeable than you.

Seriously, shut the fuck up.

As we have moved fully away from the topic of this thread, and the original question has been answered satisfactorally, we are done here~
