Well there's two grandia right now and a third one coming out. I'm not sure which one you're talking about I guess the first one. I haven't really played the first one but I've played the second if you couldn't tell by my avay. I do like Feena (spelling?) though.

Grandia is one of my favourite RPGs, even though I haven't motivated myself to play through it a second time. Grandia 2, I have only played for an hour on the PC. At first I was annoyed by the shadows. Now, they've settled down into proper shadows, and I'm a happy chapper.
I would be playing a lot of Grandia 2, bar four things. Exams, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IV. I think I'm pretty close to the finish of Final Fantasy VI, and I bought IV and V today, so Grandia 2 takes precedence once I've completed VI.
I'd recommend either of them, for Playstation or Saturn for Grandia, or PS2 or PC for Grandia 2.

Well, quite honestly, I haven't played Grandia I , but as for Grandia II, it is a very good RPG, though much too easy and a bit too short...Great nonetheless, mind you...however...
As for Grandia II, do NOT get the PS2 version ! I'm serious. If you happen to have a Dreamcast or "good" PC ( a PIII with 128 megs of RAM and a video card that has at least 8 megs of VRAM should do) , get either one of the two ( my preference would go the PC version because of the Hi-resolution ... )Why is this ? Because the PS2 version is a poor port of the original Dreamcast game, overloaded with bugs, the main being SLOW-DOWNS ! Yes, you heard right : slow-downs ! Quite a bit not understandable since the PS2's supposed to be a more powerful machine than the Dreamcast, but it is so.
Mind you, if you're "stuck" only with a PS2, I advise you can still try the game...it STILL is worth it. But, trust me on this one, if you can avoid that version, you better do it.

I have amd beat both and am eagerly awaiting the third. THe first is the better of the 2, IMO. The second was a lot easier to me for some reason. I maxed out my magic and moves way too easily. I love the battle system in both games, it is something different and more strategic than a ot of other RPG's. I recommend both to anyone.

Nearly completed FF6 huh? Were are you then? And I don't have a PS2 or decent PC or Dreamcast so I guess I can't have Grandia2... That makes me >_< (sorry, just a thing I have today for>_<)

Levels 5 and 4 sounds low for this area of the game... (My memory is a little sketchy, but I think I was a tad higher than that.) Find one of the map areas, or even the dungeon underneath the church. Stick around the save point and find as many monsters as you can, come back and heal up, and then leave the dungeon and return. Hopefully this'll reset the monsters.
A higher level will help you out a bit in the battle. Tactics for the battle? Get Justin to use V-slash as much as possible, and have Sue use a combination of whatever magic she may have with mana eggs (equip them from the weapons store by talking to one of the men in there) to healing the two characters.
(Just checked a save game I have not far from the point you're at. My levels were 9 and 7 when I defeated Chang.) Hope this helps, and don't give up on Breath of Fire III. It's a better game than Breath of Fire IV, even if the graphics aren't as good. The story's a little better to play through, with more depth to some of the characters. (Although Grandia is better than it aswell!)
