Im sure someone posted something like this before, but i dont see it so...

What do you think is the best few out of the bunch?
I would have to say, (in order from best to least) these are my top three.
7 6 and tactics

I likes 7 and 6 for the storylines, and nice character background, i like tactics just because of the gameplay xD

What about all you people?

I don't think there is any point in me posting an on topic answer. This thread will surely closed. It has been done. Many times. But Its not my call if its closed.

If you want a real answer from people, I'll be happy to answer via PM. But i don't want to waste my time typing in here anymore than i already have.

Also, welcome to the boards.

Well, I liked it - in a nut shell: I enjoyed the junctioning system which allowed for some easy leveling up of characters. And I also enjoyed the story line. I though it was pretty decent (and entertaining). The characters were not the most well-rounded but I wouldn't consider them weak either.

You should play it.

Final Fantasy VI!

For me it dominates and destroys all other rpg's, and the only game that has a chance of trying to come close is Chrono Trigger, but also that game dominates and destroys all other rpg's, including my # game Final Fantasy VII

My favorite rpg's
1. Final Fantasy VI
...a gap...
2. Chrono Trigger
...a gap...
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy X
5. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Final Fantasy Tactics has the best story in the series, the best rendition of the job system and a cast of fantastic characters. If it has to be something out of the main series though, I would probably go with Final Fantasy VI.

I think Final Fantasy VI is the more interresting FF. It is personal because it it the first game I played which managed to make me notice how music can be so important. Though I think Edgar is overpowered in this game, I still love it. Final Fantasy IV could be my favorite if the musics were longer in the OST :P. Before FF VI, i was only appreciating a game for gameplay, after FF VI, it was for the gameplay AND music.

Roffle, Edgar, Terra, Celes, and probably at least one or two others are probably way overpowered. FFVI is still excellent, though.

What always annoyed me about VI was the way the Attack command was often totally useless. The secondary commands such as Tools and Blitz were more powerful and did not expend any MP or HP. Hence you have no reason to use the Attack command for much of the game, except maybe to try a limit break/desperation attack, but those are random.

I like some of FFVI's music, but in comparison to some of the later OST's, it isn't so good. Obviously though, much of this is down to console restraints, and there are some truly excellent pieces like Terra's Theme in there.

Final fantasy 9 is my favourite, there are so many things that make me think i'm a bit of a fanboy. But luckily not so many people hate FF9 fanboys.

You can tell there was a lot of love and imagination put into it which kinda makes FF7 and FF8 look a bit bland in comparison. Artistically anyway.

I love every Final Fantasy (except II...), but the one that stands out most for me is Final Fantasy IV. That game is godly. I loved the story, the characters, the airships (I'll make an airship one day)... The Cecil-Rosa thing was great. I like a little romance in my games. Gives you something to strive for.

Thats actually very true I hardly ever attack. I only do so when I get bored of destroying everything in one hit with my magic. As soon as you get vanish and doom or x-zone all leveling and strategy goes out the window.

Psycho_Cyan

Genji Glove+Offering+Illumina+Atma Weapon=Broken Attack Command.

Other than that, once you start getting some decent weapons, your attacks will tend to be better than some of the secondary commands. Edgar's a great example of this. If you don't use Espers to pump Sabin's Magic stat, he's another example. So is Setzer, unless you're absolutely godly with the slot command. Needless to say, I'm not, lulz.

Honestly, though, once you start getting into the higher levels, barring some broken glitch like Wind God/Psycho Cyan or the Genji Glove+Offering+Illumina+Atma Weapon setup, Magic>everything. Like Desert Wolf said, there's the Vanish+Doom/X-Zone trick, but there's also Ultima, Flame Shields+Merton, Float+Quake, and there's Ultima.

edit: Yes, I mentioned Ultima twice. It's that good.

yeah, maybe crash bandicoot.but metal gear...no. i play metal gear often on the ps one, and final fantasy 9 too. they are the only games i still play on the psone. and i honestly don't think that metal gear has better graphics. hey, i don't know... it really doesn't. i mean in metal gear, the face isn't well drawn. in ff9 is. oh well.

Psycho_Cyan
07-14-2008, 04:29 PM
Wait a month to answer much? roffle.

Anyway, the only point where the faces are "well-drawn" (if I understand you properly) is in the FMV's. MGS has no FMV, the cinematics are all done with the in-game models. Overall, though, MGS does have better graphics.

It's because he's in Portugal. Time Zones, ya know?

Anywho, I'd have to agree with the whole faces thing. MGS' faces were all just 3 lines, basically (eyes and mouth). But everything else was stunning for its time. That cannot be denied.

Outside the Final Fantasy series among my favorite RPGs there is Xenogears and Chrono Trigger.

this is easy.

8 (dont ask, even i dont know the reason).
4
tactics/war of the lions
9
and last but not least: adventure (for the GB)

oh and getting very technical, MGS does have FMV, all the real life sequences were FMV, but they could well be excluded from the game.
