Well, I happened to notice that there are few topics regarding the DMW, which in my opinion can be a confusing concept. Just figured I'd start up a thread for those who don't really get it.
As for me, I'm curious: why is it that during a Limit Verge, a cutscene - even still pictures - will randomly appear. Is there some significance to this? Also, this happens much more frequently when I simultaneously tap the L and R buttons. (Not sure if any input is required for the cutscenes/pictures to occur; it's just odd how frequent they happen.)
Let me know what you think - or know.

Wouldn't surprise me. It's just weird, I kept messing with it and it does the same thing when tapping X repeatedly.

i believe DMW is called Digital Mind Wave.. not media.. :x
anyway, for me, repeatedly tapping x does have chances of either going into chocobo mode, summon mode, or changing " almost failed " limit verges into power surges by moving the reels.. the pictures that occur are like "flashbacks" of what has happened before and it will have a [Edit] NEAR 100% power surge chance.
not sure how they calculate the levels of the power surge attacks though.
my 2cents worth :D

Haha, you got me there; it's unfamiliar to me so I couldn't quite get it right.

Same goes for me, I've come to the conclusion that doing so definitely affects the DMW.

edited what i posted before. I had a failed limit verge (3rd slot) even though i got the flashback scenes, albeit only 1 picture. maybe 5 pictures would be 100%? cant say for sure now .__.

I glanced through the strategy guide during my visit to GameStop and heard that you can actually view those pictures in-game, though I've yet to find out how.

Nothing can ever make it 100%...
I've had 5 pictures come up, with 'Heavenly' DMW status, and it STILL missed!
The same for the cut-scene with 'Heavenly' status!
It's bloody annoying!
BTW, has anyone found during mission 1-1-6 '1000 ShinRa Troops', the DMW seems to fuck up a lot more? Seriously, I've never had that many freaking 'Verges' (where the 2 outside pictures line up, but the middle one misses) before! It's like that mission is cursed or something!
I even had 'Rebirth Flame' materia MASTERED, giving x10 chance for Phoenix to appear, PLUS 'Heavenly' status and it STILL missed!!!
I mean, come on!
