Some days ago me and some friends stumbled onto an interesting point. we were talking about what our favourite FF was, and all our favrourites were different.
I thought FF6 was the best.
Two liked FF8 the most.
One liked FF9 the most.
Just a small group, but the thing we saw was: we all liked our FIRST Final Fantasy game we played the best. FF6 was the first FF for me to play, and the other 2 played FF8 the first, and the other one played FF9 the first.
So, if this is the fact with you people to, then we can conclude that we all like our first experience with Final Fantasy the most, and that the games we play afterwards wont quite compare with our first experience we had.

Ive foud this trend too. FF7 was the big breakthrough and most people played it, hence why it is the favourite of most people.

Well in case of me, I bought FF8 first, I like it a lot more than the others, but it's not the best. Kinda hard to explain. At least I've taken care of it better than the others... FF7 covers are broken, FF9 I dropped coffee to manual and FF6 disc has a little scratch, but it doesn't matter the playing. Maybe it's not coincidence :D
Well FF4 was my first I completed. I thought It was gonna be my fav of all time, but after I got my hand on FF6, I just couldn't compare FF4, 6 was alot better. Nothing can beat that game in my opinion. So for me it was my second experience that was the best.

FF7 was the first FF, and actually the first RPG, I ever played and you're right; It's my favorite FF. It was just a great experience, so I guess I'd have to agree with your theory, Homeboy.

That's an interesting point.... in a way, it's true with me, too.
FF7 was the first I tried, but I never finished it. I actually didn't get all that far into it.
FF9 was the first Final Fantasy that I finished. In a way, I guess it was my first complete trek into Final Fantasy. It revived my interest in the series. And it is, to this day, my favorite FF.
So, I guess you're right about that. ;)

Interesting point, and one that I conform to for the moment.
My favourite Final Fantasy game is VII, and it was the first one I played. However, I am currently playing through VI, and I am slowly getting addicted to it in a way that I haven't been addicted to a game since Final Fantasy VII. Also, I have yet to play Final Fantasy X, but at the moment, my first is my best.

Hmm...I've noticed that also. The first one I played (or actually, one that I actually concentrated on) was VIII. That is my favourite...yeah, probably because it was the first one I technically played. I liked the others, but not as much as I love VIII.

I played final fantasy VII, VIII, IX and my favorite is 7 by far. It was the first game I played I liked ever thing abut my second best is 9 because it had a good storyline, and then 8 because it used real human charcaters. After all I think FF 7 was the best they ever made But, I have never played FF X so I wouldn't really know about that game.

My first was FF4. But FF6 is my fave.
I used to support this theory too. FFVII wasn't my first RPG, but it was the first I'd ever played through to the end. But I still count it as my first anyway since the last time I'd played a game of the same genre was when I was around 10, maybe 11-years old. 7/8 years ago.
I hailed FFVII as my "favorite" until I met Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Then that was #1 until Vagrant Story, which had roughly a two year-long run in my personal spotlight until I got about halfway through FFX. ;)
But when you experience something for the first time you're bound to hold it to heart moreso than something you're used to, whether you like it or not. After all, it is new and refreshing and the mind tends to like exploring new realms. Especially RPG ones.

Well, I've nearly collected everyone of them since January, when i got into X.
Here's my order:
1. FFX
2. FF8
3.FF7
4. FF4
5. FF9
6. FF1
I have yet to beat any of them, have all the other PS ffs, except anthologies. I can't really compare any of my FFs as an overall Fav.
But I think 10's storyline is more compelling, 8's graphics are the best with the most action. 8 has the best battle system. 9 Has cool Characters, and 7 Has wonderful battle options. So it's sorta like i can't compare them. As for the nes and snes,
1 is ok. But i hate the way the characters have no storylines. 4 is pretty good also.
