I was also searching for high quality soundtracks of Shinobi Legions and Shinobi X but, to no avail. I had given up on trying to find it.

However, I accidently stumbled on to a site (which I forgot to bookmark) which had both soundtracks of Shinobi X and Shinobi Legions aswell as many others.

So here are the Links to both soundtracks and the Winamp plugin (Required to play the .minissf format)

Yeah check out www.hcs64.com for all the emulated goodness.. Look for SSF (Sega Saturn Sound Format) , Nintendo DS, Gamecube , Nintendo Wii, Xbox emulated music and rips :)

Where do I extract the AOSSF files to

plugin for winamp http://foobar2000.xrea.jp/up/files/up799.zip (1.16) or the one you already downloaded..aossf ....Use the plugin (in_aossfu.dll) as that is for winamp. put into winamp plugin folder and then it should play the ssf files. The SSFLIB files for a game must be kept in same folder as the minissf files.. The minissf files are the ones you play with winamp :-) Hope it helps.

Make sure you use music that are minissf/ssf to play with winamp.. If they are bin you need to convert them to ssf :P

That's a pretty rare soundtrack. Very good work from Richard Jacques. I've owned a low quality MP3 recording of it for a long time. I would even go so far as to say it's the best Shinobi soundtrack yet written.

It's a pity the game Shinobi X wasn't up to the greatness of the music. The cut scenes were laughably bad...

Yeah its damn good.. I always listen to the music from the SS rip :) I think also its the best music of the Shinobi series !! I also love soundtrack from the PS2 game Shinobi :) Great music !!

I don't know. I never quite understood the fuss about The Revenge of Shinobi. I like "Chinatown" or "Terrible Beat", but otherwise I would say the Shinobi 3 or Shinobi X soundtracks are more successful at evoking the ninja atmosphere :)

Yuzo Koshiro has done better work as well, methinks...

Oh dear no. I think the most criminally underated Shinobi game -Shadow Dancer- had the best soundtrack. Shinobi 3 also had an amazing soundtrack. I am torn between those two Shinobi games on which has the better soundtrack.

You know I am big Shinobi fan and I always wondered the same thing. Maybe at the time, the appearances of Godzilla, Spiderman, and Batman all in one bad ass game series held some sort of sentimental value. Thats probably one of the coolest features of Revenge of Shinobi. I hated the look of Shinobi sprite in Revenge of Shinobi as it always reminded me of an old geezer.

I am waiting for him to rip some more SS games but yeah this one definitely was a cool rip ! Cotton 2, Panzer Dragoon Zwei are also cool rips.. I always had a soft sport for Shinobi games and yeah I remembre Shadow Dancer well too :) Good game..How about Ninja Warriors.. not shinobi series.. but had a nice first stage music which I always loved to hear !!
