So, do you believe it's possible that Japanese anime is somehow affecting the economy? If so, is it a positive effect or an negative effect? You the posters will decide.

I believe it helps trade, throught other nations. Otherwise, the other main things Japan would be importing is video game sand food. Keep in mind I said main, not all. I believe anime throughout foreign countries helps Japan, merchandise wise. So, yes, it doe do some good.

Its about money, you know, yen and greenbacks. You forgot to stick that in there as an option.

I will say trade. People order them and what have you from Japan, wherever they are and whatever they want and then it spreads to their friends, etc.

I find that anime does have a profound impact on the economies that export them. People have been more interested in Japan and have exported/imported products. In all...I think anime's very successful throughout the world!

Kayin is right. It's all about the money, nothing more. It could effect the world economy a bit, with Question and Offer or whatever it's called in english (marketing mechanisme) It also keeps up the currencies of valuta o_o
Anyway, it's mostly about the green, like they care for us having a addiction
they would care. if they found out were addicted to something, they'd exploit it to the max! like they did pokemon. now look how rich them bastards are.

That would actually fall under my first poll option.
It provides a lucritive source of income for the members of the industry.
Sorry for being offline for so long.
Well as I was about to say, (despite having given no prior implications that I was about to say something) I was in a very wierd mood when I put the poll up. I was being sarcastic with half my poll options, but I think that approach resulted in having a choice for pretty much any standpoint you could have on the issue. (If you can call it one.) For now I'll call it an issue.
Japan exports billions upon billions of dollars worth of anime and manga. This helps provide money that they in turn need buy off our real estate, that they in turn sell back to us. I'll take the approach It's essentially another link in a chain, that intertwines with other chains, creating a world wide net of commerce. Just doin' it's part I guess.

I didn't pick the first option because its not a huge money making business, yet. The only series thats really raking in the dough is DBZ, otherwise anime isn't pulling in truckloads of cash. The companies are noticing anime's rising popularity, and because of that, anime is coming out faster and more frequently, and the motivation behind that is the success you see with Dragonball Z and other series like Gundam Wing. In no way does anime compare to what Sony does with electronics and other huge asian companies that the U.S. trades with..so its really about the anime companies wanting to fill their personal pockets, not make foreign trade better or anything like that.

There's no way anime and manga is making billions and billions of dollars in profit. Please provide some real statistics.

Fine then, I'll find real statistics to post here, but I wouldn't go assuming that they aren't either. By conjectur, DBZ alone has grossed easily over 10 million, and it's just one of literally thousands out there. We all know it's bringing a large amount of money to the members of the industry because if it didn't, there would be no reason to keep exporting it to the U.S. and other countries.
I was exaggerating on the billions, mostly to be sarcastic.
