This has been irritating me for ages now. On my first run-through of the game I managed to get the ranch working (somehow), and now - on my second game - I can't! I did the obvious - that is, get Clasko on the airship in Chapter 1 - but the mission doesn't come up in the Calm Lands. Can anyone tell me what I have to do?

i couldn't get this to work at all I didn't even get the alchemist dressphere lol

Damn O'aka...I never realised you had to pay off his debts so early. I guess I did it in the first runthrough cos I did a lot of digging to train my dresspheres, hence I had money to pay him.
