Here is the complete rip of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin's soundtrack. There are 50 tracks. The Megaupload link has the whole set in one archive, while the Rapidshare and Zshare links are in two halves.
Here is the album art. If you'd like a higher resolution version of it, I have up to 1280x1280...

Thanks for zshare links, they are much better.
Bad quality. too much distortion on guitar parts.
Beware.
The one on the other thread, (incomplete rip 12 tracks) sounded better.

Bad quality? I didn't notice. The game's music just kinda sounds like that in game to me, but I'm not an experienced ripper by any stretch of the imagination.
My apologies for any poor quality - I can rip the songs again if you'd like; it's no trouble at all. Is there an optimum setting I should record the songs with?

I downloaded part one, and you did a nice job with the ID3 tags and everything - I appreciate it. But sorry, it is a bit too distorted.
Same here , i appreciated to all the rippers, whoever worked hard on rips, but its distorted, have to call spade a spade.
Check other thread, there is guy who posted
"
http://www.goear.com/ufiles.php?t=user&u=Raingna
( If you want to download them, use this site:

^^ sounds much better, i mean less distorted.
If you can match this quality and give me some samples to judge.

Check the bass of guitar in this one, your rip guitar parts sounds too shrill.
That is giving distortion.

I don't want anyone to get angry with someone for telling it like it is. I'd like to provide the best possible rips I can, and I don't want anyone worrying about my feelings when critiquing the quality. That said, I don't think I'll be able to do the rips properly with my equipment. I recorded the songs at the highest bitrate or whatever that my system would allow me to. I'm going to give it another shot; maybe my line-in plug is messed up or I'm just doing it completely wrong, but I'm going to try again and replace my links with the (hopefully) improved soundtrack. My apologies for the bad rips.

Before I make a horrible mistake, I'd like to confirm this here: The only way I was able to get Track 6 to sound somewhat like the one track linked to in the YouTube (That other link provided does not work) was to lower the Sample rate to 22050Hz from the 44100Hz I originally was recording in. Is this a bad idea? I'm somewhat new to this whole ripping-without-distortion thing, so I don't want to ruin it with a misstep. Er, ruin it again.

I've managed to achieve this quality with my latest rip, but since that one has been uploaded there seems to be no need, unless multiple loops per song are important to anyone here. I have some high resolution album art to post, at least; I'll post it when I get home from school. Thanks for the rip, Ric!
Shaun
01-29-2008, 12:53 AM
Mogman, that isn't too bad though I'm sure it could be higher quality. The main problem is the lack of ID3 tagging. Guess I could do it manually. Thanks anyway.
Edit: Oh wait, I don't like how Brenner's Theme ends... sorry man. :(
Edit 2: TheBlackMarket, I think multiple loops are favourable.

@Turbodrive
Heh, I found that out when I finished making the cover art from the Manual. I'm kinda ashamed that I didn't think to look there in the first place. I have Illustrator, so I was able to make very high resolution album art. The album art should be within the tags, but if for some reason it doesn't load, I've included it in the rar file.
@Shaun
My rips loop maybe two or so times I think... I used the game's music player in its repeat all mode, so it loops however many times they loop there.
I'm uploading my new rip with the better album art and less distortion... (I hope.) If there are any tracks that sound sub-par, let me know so I can fix them. The megaupload version of the upload should be finished about a half hour from now, the rapidshare should take a bit less time and the Zshare doesn't let me know anything. I'll update when it's finished.
[EDIT] I no longer have any of the stuff related to this uploaded to my site, so I'm removing the links to artwork and etc.

@TBM: I'm always appreciative of people taking time to rip music, so thank you. Have the links been updated since the original post? I've been listening to the ones I just downloaded, and they seem to be a little noisy. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I agree with juni (in the sense that I've heard better rips), so was just curious about your 2nd attempt.
TheBlackMarket
01-29-2008, 07:11 AM
No, those links aren't changed yet.
My internet connection got knocked out for a while, so I've had to get prepared to upload them again. I'm actually on my third attempt; I uploaded one set before my connection died, but after giving it a second listen, it sounded horrid, so I tried again. Hopefully this set I'm uploading right now isn't bad... it sounded fine to me, but I'm always ready to try again if this set is unsatisfactory.
Hopefully it won't take more than a half hour to upload.

TheBlackMarket, that's awesome. I like the album art too. :) Will look great on my iPod, hah. And I didn't realise Mogman's rip had no loops with no fading out until today as I only really listened to Brenner's theme 'til the end. I like the quality in Mogman's though.
Anyway, I only just got home so I'll download your update version now. Unfortunately my ISP uses a shared IP for most customers so hopefully Megaupload will work... *tries link* Actually, I'll assume the Zshare link is updated so I'll try that one and give you feedback. ;)

@Shirona
To tell you the truth, I preferred the old one as well. The improved one sounds a little too much like someone ran the actual game's audio through the ol' Youtube music grinder for my tastes... That's why I kept the old one on my Zune and made this one for everyone else... ;)

Could you? I'd be very thankful. It's just that my crappity-crap router keeps dropping my connection every once in a while, which usually isn't a problem, but given a 100+ megabyte download, it's unfortunately common for it to freeze midway. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem either since my download manager knows how to pick up where it left, but these free web hosting services mask their files in a manner where this is impossible (the link is only valid for one download). If you have your own server and all, you could upload it there and send me the link via PM if you're worried about bandwidth.
On a side note, I think the "recommendations" for file hosts are for people who don't have their own.

First of all, thanks for a great rip!
However, I think I have to agree with the others that the second rip is a lot like the original NDS audio. I'm no ripping expert either, but I know that it is possible to do direct extractions from DS ROMs.
Seeing as I can't find a good way to do an extraction, though, we may have to stick with direct recording. Is there any feasible way for you to get the best parts of both rips into a single, final, "perfect" version?
Oh, and where can I find the 1280 x 1280 album art?

38 - Next Destination (
http://www.supload.com/listen?s=03T7L35NJBIQ)
47 - Power Up (
http://www.supload.com/listen?s=F03LE34NY1SN)
Are these any good? Also I have no idea how/where I should cut the endings. I used the same timings as TheBlackMarket's rip minus the fade into the next loop for now.
I recorded with +8dB of gain then encoded to mp3 with Lame 3.97 with 160-224kbps VBR and switches "-V0 --vbr-new -q2". This of course was an accident. I re-encoded with "-V2 --vbr-new -q0" and got smaller files and probably closer to the original waveform. Still a DS rip at 160kbps+ is basically transparent anyway, I should probably do 128-192kbps VBR really.

If you are using Windows, please download this program and install it:

After you install the program, you will be able to open the .rar file, which contains the music in .mp3 format.

So did you even download the soundtrack from here or are you just taking a swing at it just because you didn't like it while playing the game?
You should thank the uploaders anyway if you downloaded it here even if you didn't like it, but keep your mouth shut if you didn't because you'd have no participation in this thread to make such a comment in the first place.
YouTube is a great way to listen to many soundtracks before you go wasting your time to download it and then blabbing away at how you hate it and making yourself look like an arse.

Well I've played both Advance Wars DS and Advance Wars DOR and I can say that I liked DOR a little bit more than DS.
The past Advnace Wars games seem to feel much like a child's storybook or something like that, that was they charm that the Advance Wars series has.
Then Days of Ruin comes out and it is like an entire new game.
Sure, past Wars World fans are going to complain but I LIKEZ NEW THINGZ unlike other Nintendo peoplz that like to pay for the same game they have played lik 5 yearz ago!
Now we just need a game where GTA and Super Mario Galaxy are mashed together...
Super Pimp Mario Galaxy...the raise of the Mario Mafia!
You know, where Bowser is the drug lord and the Mario Mafia doesn't like that idea...well going off topic here.
I've played both, I like days of run for what it is and Dual Strike for what it is.
I like them both, although I wish they carried over the War Room from Dual Strike to Days of Ruin...that would have been interesting. BUT COME ON! You could make 50 custom maps and even upload/download from the wi-fi server!
