Movies crashing? Game not letting you do the chocobo races? Want to play without a CD or is your disc ruined? The end all solution to all of your problems is...
Install the final fantasy VII patch for XP ver. 1.4 (
http://www.fileplanet.com/120095/120000/fileinfo/Final-Fantasy-VII-XP-Patch-1.4)
Use a no CD crack for the game (
http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36324%29) and edit the path to your movie files with start>run>regedit>hkey local machine>software>squaresoft>ff7.exe as it says in the thread I've linked to.
MAKE SURE THERE IS A BACKSLASH AT THE END OF THE FILE PATH!! That's the problem a lot of you are having. The game should start up as normal, if not then one of your paths is off.
Go to
http://fmv.thehylia.com/final-fantasy-7-disk-2 to download any movie files you need. That's disc2 but they have a link to the others on the side of the page. Hell, download 'em all if you got time, and you'll only need the install disc to play the entire game.
Any problems beyond this I can fix, just let me know.

One more thing- Movies might also be fixable by downloading the TM20 codec as stated in this forum:
http://forums.eidosgames.com/archive/index.php/t-62737.html
But if you just replace the movie file with the downloaded working AVI then there shouldn't be a need.

Hmm... The No-CD file requires registration to get to, and I didn't recieve the activation e-mail, even after 50 requests. Could you please put the files on FilePlanet or any other place so I can actually reach them?

True. Forgot about that. I'll do that before the weeks out and post the link on here.

Would you please tell me in the game there is a time where cloud climbs up a pipe to come down looking to buy batteries. Where? I can't find a place to buy any batteries. am I missing something?

Question about the PC version:If I don't have an nVidia card, am I forced to use software acceleration only because at 640x480 fullscreen, the game looks good but the frame rate is jerky. Is there a patch for other graphics cards to be used?

Yes, there is a patch for that somewhere. It's on the same site as the No-CD Patch, if I recall correctly.

Does anybody care if you use an emulator to improve the performance of a game you bought for the PC?

Like I said, grab ePSXe and download the ISO of the PSX version via torrents, or better yet, grab a PS1 and find an FF7 PSX auction on ebay or amazon. Trust me, it's worth the hassle since the PC version sucks so much glitchy shit.
